Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were great in their roles, and their chemistry was the best part of both movies, but I was otherwise unhappy with the rest of it. Spider-Man had a great take on the origin, and Amazing's take was comparatively sub-par; I really disliked that Uncle Ben never says "With great power comes great responsibility." The villains lacked menace, and didn't feel like credible threats. Peter unintentionally came across as a jerk; while Spider-Man 3 is derided for its unsympathetic take on Peter, at least it was intentional there.

RE: Hannibal (The Homo)
Having Chilton go through all he went through and then end up as the head of the asylum gives a lot more depth to the character. Based solely on the books/movies, Chilton came off as really petty when it came to treating Hannibal, and now it makes so much more sense that he'd be utterly spiteful since Hannibal was responsible for everything.
Oh yeah, Harris's ending for Hannibal the book was awful. It was probably during writing Hannibal that Harris fell in love with the character too much after having written him in small doses in his prior two books and he had this weird idea that a romantic ending for him would be a good idea, even if it meant character assassination on Clarice.
Hopefully X-Files turns out great. It'd suck if it got everyone back only for it to not live up to expecations.

RE: Hannibal (The Homo)
It's great that he wants to keep trying for a continuation especially since there's still a lot of stories left to tell. As someone who loved the Silence of the Lambs movie, I was really interested in how Fuller would adapt that book considering how integral Will's relationship with Hannibal was to the series. Though the series finale seemed to reconcile a couple of things anyway, most notably Chilton being alive and getting skin grafts, and Alana leaving with Margot, which could mean that Chilton would resume being head of the asylum.
That said, I was more interested in Fuller's plans post-book canon since he probably would have given a better conclusion to Hannibal's arc than Thomas Harris did.
A couple of my friends and family who were fans of the series have expressed the same sentiments. They're more optimistic since this extra season's a miniseries so it requires Carter to be tighter with his plotting rather than making it up as he goes along.

RE: Hannibal (The Homo)
I don't get Amazon's reasoning for passing on it because of not getting it immediately; it's not like Amazon has a dedicated "season" anyway, and launching it without a significant advertising push could cause the show to tank.
Only very tangentially related to American Gods, Starz would have been a nice home for Hannibal. Imagine pairing up the two shows for 2 hours of Fuller? That would've been really cool.
Looking forward to X-Files! I haven't seen the show at all so the upcoming revival sounds like a good place to get into it.

RE: Hannibal (The Homo)
If it will continue, I expect that it'll be a while since Mads Mikkelsen, Hugh Dancy, and Gillian Anderson all have series that they're filming right now or in the immediate future. Gillian Anderson is particularly busy with X-Files and the third series of The Fall coming up.
Yeah, I'm really annoyed that it didn't get enough attention, even among awards giving bodies. I'm pretty sure that the show will be recognised as a classic a couple of years from now, but it should have been watched by a wider viewership while it was still airing. There really is nothing else like it on TV, just from how surreal its imagery was to its treatment of its characters.

RE: Hannibal (The Homo)
Fantastic ending to a great series. It's highly unlikely that we'll be getting a continuation in either another season or as a movie in spite of Fuller's declarations - I'm still waiting for those Pushing Daisies continuations he promised a couple of years ago - and this was a completely satisfying ending. It's really disappointing that we're likely never going to see how Fuller and co. would have handled the Silence of the Lambs arc, but we at least got their take on Hannibal, Red Dragon, and parts of Hannibal Rising.

RE: American Horror Story vs Penny Dreadful. Which one is better?
If we're judging it solely on two seasons, I'd go with American Horror Story since Murder House and Asylum were very strong. With all of the seasons thus far, Penny Dreadful would be significantly stronger; AHS went off the rails starting Coven and wasn't either scary or interesting at all during Freak Show.

RE: Utopia - Best Series Ever
I heard the first series (i.e. season) is on U.S. Netflix as of this month. I watched the whole thing a couple of months ago after reading this thread and liked it a lot - both the story and the character developments were quite interesting. According to the solarmovie date listing (hxxps://www.solarmovie.is/tv/utopia-2013/), the second series ran in July and August 2014. Does anyone know if there'll be a third?
Unfortunately, there won't be a third series since Channel 4 decided not to renew it.

RE: Do you like Tom cruise?
Yeah, he's a very charismatic actor and he's got a great filmography (Mission Impossible, Edge of Tomorrow, Magnolia, Minority Report, Interview with the Vampire, Top Gun, etc.), and he's generally spoken of as a really nice guy behind the scenes. There was just this period in the 2000's when he had just divorced Nicole Kidman and during the whole period when he was married with Katie Holmes that he was insufferable.

RE: How to get away with murder!
I had to stop somewhere in the first third of the show because work got busier but I enjoyed what I watched and I'm going to catch up sooner or later. Viola Davis is amazing!

RE: Utopia - Best Series Ever
Bad news for HBO's take on Utopia: HBO and David Fincher couldn't come up with an agreement regarding the budget, so the project is dead for now. HBO owns the rights to adapt the series so Fincher can't shop it around.

RE: Favorite BG wrestlers?
Reese Wells, Diego Diaz, Austin Cooper, and Jake Jenkins.
-
RE: Alexi Adamov
Does he still even wrestle anymore?
He doesn't; Aryx Quinn mentioned that Alexi stopped a couple of years ago.

RE: Dragon Age Inquisition and Dorian Pavus
Thanks, I saw that amulet quest but he said he didn't want my help. maybe he's just saying that?
Is it possible to have more than one romance? He's just saying that he doesn't want your help; help him anyway and do it non-violently to further the romance.

RE: Gay movie that will make you cry
In addition to the ones already mentioned, I recommend The Love of Siam.

RE: Philip Seymour Hoffman vs. Heath Ledger
That's tough. Hoffman's performance was showier whereas Ledger's was naturalistic (oddly enough, that Catherine Keener's performance was so naturalistic is probably why she didn't win for her role in Capote). I have to go with Hoffman for this one, but just by a smidgen.

RE: Is anyone into Rupaul's Drag Race Season 7?
Now that the season is pretty much done, I can safely say that this is my least favourite season aside from All Stars. Just like All Stars, it focused too heavily on team challenges, which gave the queens too little room to show more of themselves; the ratio of individual to group challenges is 1:3, whereas it's the other way around for the other seasons. I'd like to see the whole cast do the season all over again, but with individual challenges; there's no doubt that the season is as strong as any previous season's, but the challenges were just off.

RE: Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
That's not too bad. Most of Fey's writing has really been friendly for a very broad audience, and it might change the voice of the show too much if the show gets more risque in its second season after having established its voice.
