      The NY Times is a liberal newspaper. They admit as much.

      Complaining that they hire BLM-favorable reporters is like complaining that Fox hired Tucker Carlson or Steve Doocy!

      OMG! Did you hear that BLACK BAPTIST CHURCH down the street hired a new BLACK pastor?

      Like 90% of your diatribes, this is FAKE NEWS...

    • RE: Bipartisan Committee Votes Unanimously to Investigate DFL Senator’s Role in Voter Fraud

      Regardless of the port of entry (Macedonia), the port of Origin is Putin & the Russian KGB.

      This is par for the course.

      As I pointed out: like most click-bait, the headline is somewhat misleading, if not entirely wrong. In this case:

      • Senator implies US Senator, but no US Senator is implicated...
      • DFL implies ties to the US Democratic Party, but is actually the Minnesota Democratic Farmer-Labor Party (though, in national politics, they caucus with the national Democratic Party). Just an aside: the DFL is "large and in charge in MN politics - holding nearly, if not, every statewide office... they are implicating one of their own here...
      • Voter Fraud is highlighted in the title, but the voter fraud portion of the charges are minimal: they delivered mail-in ballots inappropriately. The real "ethics crimes" here are the misuse of funds... no small issue, but not in the headline!

      Go figure!

      You are arguing with a rock. @raphjd is the site administrator (not the site owner, but damn near as high up in this site's orgainzation)... I've been pointing out that his articles come from Russian-sponsored troll sites (you call them click farms - I like it) for years now... he just calls me names and ignores the obvious anti-American bias and divisiveness.

      BTW: @raphjd does not live in the US - he is in the UK. His infatuation with US politics goes hand in hand with his adoration of all things Trump and belief that authoritarian rule (by someone he politically agrees with) is the best form of Government. "Off with their heads!"

      Oh, and while he used to let the politics section run "fast and furious", he's decided lately to (ab)use the power he holds as Administrator to ban people who challenge him. Just so you're warned...

    • RE: Heartstopper gets 2 more seasons

      This one was a keeper for me... While I didn't like the 30-minute episode format, i really liked the story - and I think there's plenty of room for more exploration - like Tao (a straight? friend of lead character Charlie's) budding attraction to trans friend Elle...

      Like the above poster, I also watched this series with a teary eye - because my own childhood awakening was NOTHING AT ALL like this! I was bullied, attacked - physically and verbally - and ostracized because I was "different" in High School, and even still in College! It wasn't until my first career job that I ever met anyone else "normal" like me! LOL

      I've downloaded and kept a version of this - for one, I have a 16 y/o who is struggling with his sexual identity.

      And I very much look forward to new seasons!

    • RE: Shower before sex or after ?.

      It kind of depends on the "state of things" after... if we were particularly "frisky", built up a sweat, and have bodily fluids all over the place, a shower after is necessary. If the only bodily fluids around are a few stray drops of cum - and it's pre-sleep sex, then maybe not.... I like falling asleep after sex (without a shower), and I don't mind waking up with a little dried cum on my chest - or elsewhere LOL.

      Likewise, shower before sex also depends on other things... but if its evening, and I haven't showered since morning (or the night before), then yeah - I gotta get rid of the "stink" before I get going... I do NOT like the smell of my own body odor! (Of course, if I'm going to bottom, there has GOT to be a cleanse ahead of time... and for me, that means a shower).

      What I find annoying though are guys (usually younger ones) who seem to have learned all about sex from porn videos... they cum and they jump up and head for the showers! Like in less than 30-seconds! No! An orgasm is not the hard & fast END to love-making, it's just the beginning of the end! Stick around and enjoy the "afterglow" of good sex!

      Unless there is someone else there hollering "end scene", the orgasm is NOT the end of sex!

    • RE: Fauci admits to Paul no scientific evidence booster vaccines in kids reduce hospitalization or death

      That's not true!

      What he said was that there weren't sufficient numbers to draw ANY significant conclusions! That's not the same as "no evidence"... not by a long-shot!

      Also, the shots have been shown to be SAFE in children over 6-mo in age.

      So let's take a step back here... a LOT of children get COVID and have only mild symptoms (e.g.: cold/flu-like symptoms)... many have no symptoms. Are you proposing that - BEFORE we allow or support the distribution of the vaccine to children, we should intentionally expose test subjects (kids) to COVID to see how many get hospitalized or die?

      The nut-job, conspiracy-theorists out there keep making the expectation that these vaccines (and the tests behind them) must be "miraculous" to be "worth it" - and that's just plain bullshit!

      MOST children didn't die from chicken-pox (they were just scarred)... but many DID die... so we developed a vaccine... one that in the later days of the 1950's and early ones of the 1960's had plenty of instances of bad side-effects. But we still vaccinated nearly all of our children! The RISK from the vaccine was worth the REWARD of healthier, better-looking (non-scarred) kids!

      We don't have sufficient NUMBERS yet to show whether the mRNA vaccines reduce hospitalizations or death of toddlers and infants... but we DO KNOW that they are shown to be safe, and that they generate the same immune response seen in adults.

      Rand Paul (an ophthalmologist, not an infectious disease expert... hell, Paul hasn't practiced since 2010! I wouldn't even see him for an eye problem now! Do you think the science of eye care hasn't changed in 12 years? He's been OUT of practice longer than he was ever IN practice!) is well aware that the medical field WILL NOT "certify" that medical treatments that work in adults will work the same way in children until a lot of data is collected to make that conclusion. They are very protective of children, and what they will approve for their treatment - far more so than for adults! So he leverages the fact that Faucci (and other NIH and CDC doctors) will "couch" their statements about children - because there isn't sufficient evidence yet - and purposefully re-casts their comments as-if they're purposefully trying to harm kids.

      Look, the Trump Administration's response to COVID-19 was a complete shit-show... and the Biden Administration hasn't been much (any at all?) of an improvement. So, what does that mean? It means the Presidency didn't have (and doesn't have) a lot to do with the Public Health Infrastructure's response to disease! (In other words: stop blaming Trump - or Biden - this is a Government Bureaucracy problem, not a Presidential one. Of course, that discounts the whole "inject bleach" comments Trump made, but that's a one-off...)

      Look - we don't have ANY PROOF that atoms exist the way Neils Bohr, Albert Einstein, or other theoretical physicists say they do... but we DO know that when you force certain kinds of uranium together with an explosive force, you get a really REALLY big explosion - which FITS their theories, but doesn't PROVE them!

      And we don't have any PROOF that these vaccines will protect kids from COVID-19, but we DO know that when we give them the shot, there are no new side effects, and their measurable immune responses are in-line with what we see in adults... so it FITS the theories that it will help them, but it doesn't PROVE them....

    • RE: Buttigieg Says Feds Have Power to Force Airlines to Hire More Workers Amid Travel Delays

      @raphjd

      Look! A dog peeing in grass!

      This is not uncommon Governmental business... he hasn't issued any new orders, just proclaimed that he COULD! It's a "threat" to try to goad the airline industry to do more to address the problems EVERYONE has been facing (in the US) with airline staff shortages (esp. flight crews!).

      Just an aside, so you don't think I'm anti-airline:

      • To maintain your pilot status/rank for a specific aircraft type, you have to FLY that aircraft type a minimum number of hours per year. Failure to maintain the hours means you lose your "license" to pilot that aircraft until you re-certify (not a short, and not an inexpensive process).
      • COVID-19 grounded a LOT of planes - some of them were "mothballed" (that is: sent to long-term storage facilities in the desert). You don't just trot out to the storage facility, gas up, and take off! There are a LOT of steps necessary to re-certify an aircraft before it can be put back into service! (not a short, and not an inexpensive process).
      • Flight crews (pilots, co-pilots, flight attendants, etc.) are not generally staffed by stupid, untalented, UN-ambitious people! When they were furloughed by the airlines during COVID, they didn't go home and pout - they found other jobs! And a LOT of them actually found BETTER jobs!

      So, long story short: airlines don't have enough planes OR crew to maintain all of the routes they already have, much less add new ones... and 2022 is looking like a RECORD year for travel!

      OOPS!

      BTW: The Buttigieg statements are no better or worse than Trump's constant threats to sue people - before, during, and after his Presidency! In other words, this is a common tactic... in business, politics, government, even on the elementary school playground (if you don't do this, I won't sit with you at lunch today!) 🙂

      @raphjd

      Just to be sure others understand: the "Senator" here is a MN State Senator, and the charges stem from his, and his family's involvement in running his campaign.

      Most of the charges have to do with illegal use of campaign funds, and illegal attempts to get ballots to people (presumably who would vote for him)... the numbers are small - it wouldn't have affected the outcome of a state senate race! But the moral/ethical ramifications are large: he likely will lose his seat if all of the allegations are found to be true.

    • RE: Teacher Bragged About Sex With 13-Year-Old Boy During School Lunch Breaks, Shared Child Porn With Fellow Teacher: Feds

      @raphjd

      It is said that when Jesse James was asked why he robbed banks, his reply was "that's where the money is"...

      Pedophiles are naturally drawn to jobs that put them in contact (preferably in control of) children! Priests & ministers, teachers & coaches, scout & other "youth group" leaders... even police! Any position that puts the adult in close proximity to, and esp. with authority over, children!

      Parents must be ALWAYS vigilant when entrusting their children to the care of other adults...

      I was a Boy Scout leader (several positions, including Scoutmaster of a Troop, and District Training Chair on a larger scale)... the former Boy Scouts of America went a long way towards eliminating child abuse in their organization with a very simple concept - one I taught my children for years AFTER I ended my affiliation with the BSA: two deep leadership

      It comes down to this simple rule: There is never a good or reasonable time for 1 adult (not the parent) to be alone with 1 child. There must always be someone else within easy & direct view, if not earshot.

      It's not a perfect rule - it didn't eliminate all abuses, but it eliminated most of the opportunities for abuse... no opportunity, no abuse (usually)...

      And again, I taught my own children to follow this rule: never meet an adult alone "behind closed doors" - ask a 3rd person to join you, or decline to meet with them. And stand your ground! A person who does NOT wish to harm you will not object!

      My views on the punishment of this teacher are pretty gruesome... most involve a very messy death (pedophilia is not really "treatable" much less "curable" - this guy will ALWAYS be a danger to children!). But as with my abortion views shared earlier in another thread, I don't expect my own personal views to be enforced on others.... prison (life * 3 - until his corpse degrades to ashes?) will have to do!

    • RE: Iowa Supreme Court Delivers Major Ruling on Abortion Waiting Period Law

      @raphjd

      Assuming Roe v Wade is overturned later this summer, some 26 States will make abortion outright illegal - instantly!

      • Some have "trigger laws" - laws that only take effect once Roe v Wade is overturned
      • Some have already passed legislation that far exceeds the current SCOTUS rules, but are expected to be upheld.

      I will re-iterate my beliefs on this topic:

      • Abortion as birth-control is barbaric and an anathema to my moral compass...
      • "Exceptions" for rape & incest are absurd - this would be the ONLY area of law where a living being (a fetus) can be punished (with a death sentence) for the crimes of their father!!
      • Some (many) abortions are NOT for simple birth control - there are complications (malformations, changes in the fetal and/or mother's overall health. These kinds of abortions do not offend my moral being...
      • I believe that my views on abortion are good for me and my life
      • I do not believe that I have the right (moral or legal) to enforce my morals onto other people. Some MAJOR RELIGIONS believe that abortion prior to "survivability" is OK - by their moral compass - and who am I to enforce my morals onto them?
      • If it is determined that it is OK for one group to enforce their morals on other groups, be prepared when you have to start chanting prayers and smoking weed every time you cook a chicken (Rastafarianism & Santeria)! (Oh, and ALL male children MUST now be circumcised! It's a moral/religious requirement)????? Absurd... The STRENGTH of your religious belief doesn't increase (or decrease) the limits of how much you can force others to believe as you do...

    • RE: House Republicans Accuse Rep. Adam Schiff of Allowing Colbert Staff Into Capitol

      @raphjd

      You messed up the headline!

      It was an insurrection!

      Stephen Colbert is a former (failed) Presidential candidate! He sent his film crew in (Schiff was only 1 of a handful of MoC who were filmed) to "test the waters"...

      In reality, it seems the production crew had stayed behind AFTER the actual "filming with people" had wrapped up (and AFTER they were believed to have left the building)... they were getting "filler" shots from around the House office building... and they did NOT have permission to be where they were, so they were detained.

      Mind you, it's not Republican House Leadership trying to publicize this - its the "back benchers" - and if you read most of their "tweets" - there's a definite aire of comedy to them... no one's breaking out laughing, well because these are MoC, not comedians!

      However, I will mention this: IF the film crew HAD gained access (not just overstayed their access) to the US Capitol - they way some right-wing media is hyperbolating - then the Capitol Police are REALLY falling down on their jobs! There should be a follow-up to the Jan 6 Commission hearings... A June 16 Commission?

      Seriously - if the talking heads on the far-right are right, questions about the safety of ALL of our representatives is at risk... If Adam Schiff can let in Colbert's film crew, what's to prevent Rep Matt Gaetz from letting in under-age prostitutes (oops, he's already done that!), or MTG from letting in members of The Proud boys (oops, done that too), or AOC from letting in actual ANTIFA members (oops, done that one too!)...

      Wait - what if, and I'm just guessing here - what if MoC regularly allowed just regular people to come see them in their offices?? And what if some of of these visitors legit got lost (and some less legitimately)?

      I'm pretty sure the Colbert crew had no weapons (save their recording devices - which can be politically deadly to some MoC who can't keep their mouths shut!). Likewise the Proud Boys MTG welcomed into her office were NOT ARMED, and the ANTIFA members AOC beckoned to her side were also unarmed...

      Curious... once you think about it.... there's something different about this and the Jan 6, 2021 "tour"...

    • RE: Texas Woman Pleads Guilty to 26 Voter Fraud Felonies

      @raphjd

      Quite honestly, most cases like this DO plead guilty. By the time they press charges, the evidence is usually overwhelming.

      What's missing is that most of the remaining cases will be individuals who just messed up. Here in Fla, our courts are full of people being prosecuted because:

      • They are ex-felons who believed their rights to vote had been restored
      • They were right! They had been restored, except that they were then taken away again...
      • They were not aware that the "restoration" of their voting rights had been rescinded - so they voted
      • In a very curious twist: many Supervisors of Elections were ALSO not aware of the re-loss of their rights, so their names were STILL ON the voter rolls - which is how they were allowed to vote to begin with!
      • Most of THESE cases are on hold - awaiting a small number of "trial" cases - even prosecutors think the cases may be thrown out because of Governmental incompetence (that is: the Government's inability to tell the voter of a change in their status before they voted).

      The cases like the one cited here are not numerically rare (there are plenty of them) - but they are statistically rare! What's the difference?

      • Every election cycle, the local (I live in Florida) Sheriff's charge a couple-dozen people in the area with voting charges... a few of these are people who voted twice (old people have a pattern of early-voting, forgetting that they voted, and then showing up at the poll on Election Day), some are for "ballot harvesting" (a neighbor got in trouble because her neighbor gave her her ballot to take to the early voting poll... she did, and that's illegal.)
      • The total number of votes that these charges represent is almost always less than 1 in a thousand, sometimes less than 1 in 10,000. Except in rare instances of exceptionally close races (usually in our really small beach-towns, or for something like the Fire District Board). Regardless, the sum total of all of the cases is statistically insignificant.

      Where do I get this kind of data? The Florida Secretary of State (who oversees the Supervisors of Elections in each county) reports on things like this after every election cycle. They are not heavily publicized - usually because there is nothing exciting to see! - but they are Government Documents, so they are open to the public.

      It's one thing to have a "lazy" reporter ... it's another thing entirely to have a reporter who just makes shit up!

      This should have been caught earlier... as you mention, USA Today has an excellent reputation to protect... they did the right thing, taking down all of her stories that didn't check out 100%... but this should have been caught earlier!
