      Here you go disrespecting our President again.  Trump promised hundreds of times of times to repeal and replace ObamaCare.  He said it would be very easy in fact.  I'm really getting tired of you coming here constantly and accusing him of lying.  It's disrespectful.

      If ObamaCare already failed then why is still the law?  If it failed it would be easy to repeal.  The fact is that Republicans LOVE ObamaCare.  They can't do any better than this.

    • RE: ObamaCare Repeal is Possibly Dead

      @Frederick:

      Actually.. the ACA was not Obama's invention.. but Hillary's.  When Hillary was the first lady under President Bill Clinton, she came up with a socialized healthcare plan, and she was laughed at by both Republicans and Democrats.

      Trump is going to have a massive number of new supporters who are currently being forced to purchase healthcare who will no longer be required to buy it.

      Hillary's healthcare plan was very different from ObamaCare.  ObamaCare is based off a plan from the Conservative Heritage Foundation think tank.  The plan was kicked around in Congress by REPUBLICANS for a couple of decades.  It was always their plan.

      Then Governor Romney faced with huge healthcare costs due to the amount of uncompensated care given to "freeloaders" as he called them took the plan and implemented it in Massachusetts.  Before RomneyCare (and later ObamaCare) people could just go to the ER and never pay the bill.  Those costs were forced onto taxpayers and people who had insurance.  RomneyCare and ObamaCare ensured that everybody paid something even if it was just a fine.

      Romney campaigned against his own healthcare plan when he ran for President which was a huge mistake and likely cost him the election.  It seemed like such a big deal back then.  Now we have a President who is against stuff he was for just five minutes ago.

      That's part of the job.  If you don't want to take a beating in the press then don't run for President.  Every President deals with this.  Trump get it a little harder than most but that's because all he does it lie.

      How many times did he tell us on the campaign trail that he had a great healthcare plan?  He refused to show it to us but promised he had one.  It's now 7 months later and we have seen nothing.  He whines on Twitter but he hasn't offered up any plan whatsoever other then to let ObamaCare "implode" (even though he is blowing it up).

    • RE: Strange Mr. McCain

      One of the reasons that costs are so high is because employers are involved in the equation.  Patients don't know how much their healthcare costs.  I have no idea how much it costs my employer.  If the insurers have to market and sell to patients directly the prices will come down.

    • RE: Strange Mr. McCain

      I do have to wonder if McCain's recent diagnosis played into his decision.
      We are a long long way off from single payer.  The biggest reason that a President has never pushed for it is because of the impact on the economy.  Millions of people work in administrative healthcare jobs.  It's a huge waste of money but you can't just kill all those jobs overnight.  My last job only existed because of the ACA.  If they did a full repeal my job would have ceased to exist.

      I have a plan to fix healthcare and I really think it would work.  The first thing you do  is prohibit all employers from offering health insurance.  You keep the mandate that everyone has insurance but you require that insurers market and sell their plans to YOU, the consumer.  The insurer will have to price their plans accordingly and compete for YOUR business, not some CEO's.  Everyone will have to buy from exchanges just like the ACA plans of today.

      Then you create a public option.  Make the insurers compete for customers and compete with a government option which will offer low prices that are government subsidized.  This isn't unheard of.  Medicare operates this way and Medicaid in my state does this as well.  Medicare is the overwhelmingly popular choice for Medicare beneficiaries.  85% of them choose the government run traditional Medicare instead of a private plan.  There are pros and cons to this but it's about choice.  The government could use their public plan as leverage to keep the private insurers prices affordable.  Over time they could slowly put the insurers out of business or they could just choose to co-exist alongside the private plans.  The important thing is that Americans have a choice to choose either the public plan or a private plan.  This is already how Medicare has worked for the last 15 years or so.

      Do you want to see Samuel L Jackson fuck John Goodman?  lol

      The Purge is a movie set in a world where crime has been totally eradicated except for one day per year. All crime is legal, including murder.  This is one reason why I hate that the President has a child working in the White House.  Ivanka could literally became a serial killer and get away with it (not that I think she would).

    • RE: Trump is refusing to pay contractors again…...

      The contractors I am referring to are the insurers that Trump is threatening to take away CSR payments to next year.  This will ensure that premiums skyrocket and the sickest Americans will not be able to get healthcare.  Many will die.

      BTW, if ObamaCare is imploding why does he need to smash it's head?  I thought it was going to implode all on it's own?  Perhaps that was another lie…...

      Everybody know Trump knows absolutely nothing about healthcare.  Just last week he was telling us that a young person could get health insurance for $12 per month.  Like most issues, he is clueless.

    • Trump is refusing to pay contractors again…...

      This man never changes.  For decades he has made money off the backs of hard working people by simply not paying them.  Now he is doing it again with ObamaCare.  He had his usual Saturday morning Twitter tantrum and announced he will not make any ObamaCare payments to insurers next year which will effectively cause prices to skyrocket and people will die without care.  He is a very sad man.  This is not how a leader should behave.

      @Frederick:

      A new law is needed.. to automatically "pardon" all actions that took place during a campaign after the election is over.

      Have you seen that movie The Purge?  That's pretty much what a law like that would get you.

    • RE: My predictions…

      Trump has done nothing to help the economy.  The only REAL job announcements that have been made are from Walmart and Amazon (warehouses).  These are very expensive jobs for taxpayers.  Walmart employees alone use $6 billion in public assistance every year.  Bezos and the Waltons are just a bunch of welfare queens.

      I tend to not be as tough on Bezos because Amazon also has a lot of good paying jobs in other areas of the company.

      Trump has made a lot of fake job announcements. He announced that he saved Carrier and then they layed off 600  workers.  Then he announced he saved Boeing and they layed off 200 workers.  Then Microsoft layed off 2000 workers.  Then Macys…..and JCPenney.....and Kmart.......and Sears.......and many other retailers.

      FoxConn is just a big lie.  They have made these announcements before.  Here is one from 2013.  It never happened.  It was never built.

      @Frederick:

      @spam17:

      I never expected such high costs for administrative costs by a country like the US..

      :cheesy2:

      Especially now that just about everything is automated, paperless, and computerized.

      That's what you think!  Healthcare providers are still using FAX machines!

    • RE: Does anybody think this is NOT outrageous and unacceptable regarding healthcare?

      Lol. No it's not 30%. Obamacare put a cap on the medical loss ratio. Insurers can't spend more than 15% on administrative costs. However, your point remains. The administrative costs are too high and way too much of it is spent on billing.

      This is why ObamaCare addressed some of these problems by creating the Financial Alignment Initiative and Accountable Care Organizations. It's still too early to tell if these programs actually save money.

      @Frederick:

      Here we go again…
      On the one hand.. people are complaining that Sessions is attacking gays..
      While on the other hand.. people are attacking Trump for criticizing Sessions and warning him not to fire Sessions.

      This is exactly the same two-faced logic that reared it's head with firing James Cumonme.

      I don't think so.  People can criticize Trump for his treatment of Sessions and criticize Sessions for his policies independent of one another.

      We need to criticize all we can now.  That sort of thing will be frowned upon once Putin moves into the White House.

      I don't think Trump gives a damn about gays one way or another.  I don't think he will hurt gays for the sake of  hurting gays but I do think he will hurt gays to punish us for something else he doesn't like.

      The gays need to stop dressing his wife and daughters immediately.

      @raphjd:

      I'm not sure I support joining the military so the taxpayer has to pay for your transition.  Not to mention all the time you will not be able to work.

      Why not? The military actively advertises that it will pay for your education.  They use it as a recruiting tool.  Why should healthcare be any different?

      Also the military spends 10x the amount on viagra that they spend on transgender healthcare (not just reassignment surgery but all healthcare)

    • Congress just passed a bill imposing sanctions against Russia

      Obviously Trump will sign the bill.  He was very angry a few weeks ago that so called President Obama did nothing about Russian hacking.  I'm so glad we have a real President in charge now who will take care of these things.  He won't let Russia push us around like that pussy Obama did…...right?

    • RE: A win for Trump.. one more hurdle cleared! Whoo hoo!

      It doesn't.  In one version of the bill (I don't know which one. There are so many I can't keep them straight) you had to pay a HUGE surcharge on your premium if you allowed your insurance to lapse.  Basically the government would tell you that you don't have to buy insurance but then if you got sick they would charge you a LOT moe money.  On what planet does that make sense?  A lot of sick people can't work or can't work as much.

      Anyway, it doesn't matter.  Once again Trump has FAILED.  He is a huge loser.  He loses more than anybody!

      I've said this many times. Republicans love ObamaCare.  It was always their plan.  Obama stole it and they are mad at him for it.  ObamaCare takes all of the best market based conservative ideas and rolls them into a health law.  Any other plan that covers all Americans has to be more left leaning.  ObamaCare is as far right as you can go.

      Republicans have three options.

      1. Take coverage away from people and kill Americans
      2. Leave ObamaCare as it is
      3. Repeal and replace it with something more left leaning.

      Their best option is #2.

      There is no doubt in my mind that If John McCain won in 2008 we would be in this exact same position today with the exact same healthcare plan.  The only difference would be that Democrats would be crying for repeal and replacing it with single payer.

    • RE: Everything has consequences…

      I don't know if it will get you out of the military.  I suppose it may depend on how bad you want out.  I had a friend who was going to join the air force about 15 years ago.  He was 18 and was lost.  He changed his mind after he was well into the enlistment process and went to his recruiter and told him he was gay.  The recruiter didn't care.  He was still going to let him join.

      Transphobia is probably a little more prevalent that homophobia though.

      This isn't a real policy anyway and Trump knows it.  He is embarrassed because he is failing on healthcare and he needed a distraction.  Usually he pounds on immigrants because they are easy targets and he is a cowardly man.  Today he chose to pick on an even smaller and weaker group.  This policy will never hold up in court.  He even waited until Rex Tillerson went on vacation so he doesn't have to face him.
