@peteinoz It's definitely a server issue. I tried some images that I had successfully uploaded earlier today and it rejected them. The fact that almost nothing has been added in the past several hours indicates that it's site-wide and not restricted to just a subset of users.

We're just going to have to wait for an admin to give us an update. Or for the problem to go away on its own.

@NF16 When you take into account the numbers on Florida you have to include the demographics of the population. You also have to take into account the economic impact.

I'm aware of that. Florida is still not at the top of the list. Your statement was simply false.

The grooming I believe refers more to grooming them into transitioning rather than being gay.

You're welcome to interpret her comment any way you like but that isn't what she said. Nor is it what the law says.

This is part of a decades-long "no promo homo" effort in multiple states and communities. In Texas, for example, a law remains on the books that insists that certain educational materials must "state that homosexual conduct is not an acceptable lifestyle and is a criminal offense." That law has not changed, even though gay sex has been legal since Lawrence v. Texas in 2003.

A South Carolina law made it illegal for public school educators to discuss "alternate sexual lifestyles from heterosexual relationships," unless they were talking about STIs. A federal judge finally overturned that law in 2020.

The earlier laws were and are pretty clearly unconstitutional and most have been successfully challenged. This Florida bill is part of a nationwide effort by Republicans to try to weasel their way into the same restrictions in a less explicitly bigoted way. We've seen similar efforts in Tennessee, Montana, and Arizona, among others.

Florida is the first to try to make their law unreviewable by the Supreme Court, though, by employing the same citizen vigilante tactic that Texas has so far successfully used in their abortion law. That tactic, should it end up being successful once the Supreme Court officially rules, is likely to result in some pretty significant consequences down the road on all sorts of issues.

@ocpete said in Florida to Enact "Don't Say Gay" Bill:

No state has fared better during the pandemic than Florida

I'm sorry but this is simply false. Florida is much closer to the bottom of the list than it is to the top, regardless of which metric you choose.

As for the bill, it also bans such "instruction" in grades 4 through 12 if it "is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate," neither of which term is defined in the bill, so it affects far more than just kindergarten through 3rd grade. And because the terms are not defined, teachers will self-censor, afraid to say anything for fear it will be misconstrued as "not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate."

All it takes is a single parent to sue, as the law creates a vigilante enforcement scheme giving cash payouts and damages to parents who do so and prevail. And with the terms undefined and ambiguous, the chance of prevailing increases markedly.

This is what DeSantis' press secretary said about it on Twitter:

"The bill that liberals inaccurately call 'Don't Say Gay' would be more accurately described as an Anti-Grooming Bill."

"If you're against the Anti-Grooming Bill, you are probably a groomer or at least you don't denounce the grooming of 4-8 year old children. Silence is complicity. This is hbow it works, Democrats, and I didn't make the rules."

So we're back to the old standby that gays are pedophiles and that we "groom" children. Both the attitude and the bill are indefensible.

@ocpete said in Florida to Enact "Don't Say Gay" Bill:

The grooming I believe refers more to grooming them into transitioning rather than being gay.

Let's take a look, shall we? Representative Carlos G. Smith, an openly-gay Florida legislator, responded to Pushaw's tweets:

"DeSantis' spokesperson openly accused opponents of #DontSayGay of being 'groomers' -- aka PEDOPHILES. Bigoted attacks like this against LGBTQ people are the worst of the worst. They're disgusting and dangerous and have NO PLACE in the Guv's office. #ChristinePushaw must resign."

      Another responder replied:

"Sounds like she hit close to home. These people get nasty about being denied access to kids and that is a huge HUGE red flag."

      Pushaw responded to both:

      "A hit dog hollers."

This wasn't, and isn't, about transitioning. This is about demonizing us as pedophiles. We've seen this tactic over and over again for decades.

    • RE: Why are porn star ID request posts being deleted ?

@lololulu19 : It took me 30 seconds on Google to find examples of porn studios winning lawsuits and using the threat of legal action to force sharers and sites to settle. I've even given you a clue about one such studio in my last post. Your failure to do even basic research on a subject that you have repeatedly and vehemently posted about is duly noted.

The rest of your post didn't merit a response, other than derisive laughter. Thank you for living up to (down to) my expectations of you. I'm not going to bother to engage further, as you're not worth my time.

    • RE: I can't upload any pics, torrents

@ham0911 : There is a known issue that is causing problems for a lot of people. The site admins are working with the sysop folks to solve it. For now, the approach that seems to be working for most is:

      1. Instead of logging in to gaytor.rent , instead log in to the old site: gaytorrent.ru .

      2. Upload just one picture rather than a full set. You should probably make the picture a small one, 100kb or less, but that's something that we're still not sure about. You may get an error in this step but keep trying. I usually have to do this 3 to 5 times before it finally sticks. If it fails, just reload the page and try again.

      3. Complete the process to upload your torrent. As with step 2, this may fail and you may have to try it again a couple of times.

      4. With the torrent now added, you can use the "add pictures" link to add your remaining pictures. As with steps 2 and 3, this may initially fail but persistence will win out. Plus, you'll get a few extra seed points for adding the pictures once a site admin approves them.

      5. Download the torrent and seed it as you normally would. You can do this either from gaytorrent.ru or from gaytor.rent.

Yeah, this is a real pain but until this is fixed these are the only steps we know of that should result in eventual success.

Please note that steps 2, 3, and 4 might not fail at all. It's pretty variable as to whether you'll get an error or whether it will succeed right away. You might have to retry each step 5 times; you might not have to retry them at all. Once they fix the site problem, things should return to normal.

@peteinoz Yeah, the zero-length torrent file issue hit me, as well. I was finally able to finish uploading pictures and post the torrent last night, and was rejoicing that the problem seemed to be over. Then I went to download my newly-posted torrent..... A zero-length torrent file that was useless. I deleted the torrent immediately.

Judging from the dearth of torrents posted overnight, and from the results of a test case this morning, the problem is still there. It would be nice to get an acknowledgement from the site admins that they know about the problem.

The bill passed the Senate and DeSantis has already said he will sign it. As you might expect, the debate from the Republican members of the Senate was woefully and willfully ignorant:

      From the Tampa Bay Times:

"Sen. Dennis Baxley, R-Ocala, the bill’s sponsor, also said the bill would address 'social engineering' in the classroom that he said could be leading to an increasing number of children coming out as gay or transgender in school."

And let's not forget Republican State Senator Ileana Garcia who insisted that being gay is "not permanent" and that this is a "good topic for happy hour." Oh, but it's all okay because she has a "close trans friend."

This is not a good time to be an LGBTQ student in the state of Florida. "Cancel culture" at its finest.

@raphjd : This conversation would go ever so much better if you had actually read that letter and were able to cite from it. Free clue: your paraphrasing of their letter is ... creative ... It is most definitely not what they actually said.

Similarly, the conversation would also go better if you would actually read what I write and respond accordingly. Another free clue: I did not write anything that even remotely resembled, "Ok, so everyone except the 51 'intel experts' is lying about Russian collusion and Hunter's laptop."

See above, where I pointed out that you're just making up shit. Thank you for so quickly proving my point.

Oh, and for the record, you should also learn the difference between "Hunter Biden's laptop" and "Hunter Biden's emails." Some of the latter have been confirmed; the former has not. Hence, the weasel wording of both the New York Post and the New York Times in their respective articles.

But hey, if it makes you feel better, I promise to refrain from voting for Hunter Biden in the next election.

    • RE: Can't download file from Torrent

Check the file size for the torrent files you downloaded. There has been a problem on the site over the past 12 hours with torrent uploading and, probably related, with some of the torrents previously uploaded yielding 0-size torrent files when you try to download them.

If that isn't the issue, forget I said anything and wait for someone more knowledgeable to reply. 🙂

@john32123666 I just got halfway through another upload, with half a dozen pictures accepted, after which it started balking again and won't let me upload the rest of my pictures.

So, intermittent, but definitely more failure than success. After the long tracker error issue the other day, this is getting pretty frustrating.

Yup, although it appears to be intermittent. I was able to do one upload, then a short time later, I was blocked.

Judging from the lack of traffic on the site, it looks as though it's broken far more than it's working.

    • Continually getting prompted to verify email address

Every time I log in to the forum site, I get an email that says, "You've requested that we change or confirm your email address," with a button to "Click here to confirm your email address."

I click the button and I get taken to a page that says, "Email Confirmed. Thank you for validating your email. Your account is now fully activated."

This is consistent and repeatable, happening every time I log in to the forum. This only affects the forum, not the torrent site. On the torrent site, I log in without incident. But here, I have to re-validate every single time.

It's true that I changed my email address here, but that was months ago. So how can I get the site to stop asking me to validate my email address?

@raphjd said in Fox News hosts know they're lying.:

Are we just supposed to accept voter fraud because it was a few years ago?

No, you're supposed to accept the reality that the "voter fraud" you're claiming simply does not exist. The few isolated incidents that have been identified were nowhere near enough to sway the election. Every single one of the theories and claims put forward by the election denialists has been thoroughly and completely debunked.

This has been examined by local officials, state officials, federal officials, news organizations (like Fox News, which we now know didn't believe the shit they were spewing on air), over 70 courts, including judges placed on the bench by Trump, and including multiple Appeals Courts and all the way to the Supreme Court, multiple recounts in multiple counties and states, including recounts overseen by election denialists, and the result has always been the same: there is nothing there.

The fact that you still cling to this big lie is not our problem. And since you clearly have closed your mind to reality, this will be my last post on this. I know when I'm wasting my time.

    • RE: Can a ratio be too high?

I think the real answer is that "it depends." If the bulk of your high ratio is coming from your own uploads, that isn't a problem, in my opinion. You're supplying the content; you're entitled to the ratio boost that comes with it.

If your ratio is coming from seeding torrents where you're the only one, that, too, isn't a problem. I'm currently seeding a large collection that has been around for months, and that everyone else has abandoned. It's still getting an occasional leecher, and it's given me a nearly 1 TB boost to my upload stats. If I weren't seeding it, the content wouldn't be available.

That said, this has been a thought-provoking discussion, and I'm going to be a bit more cautious about how often, and how long, I seed going forward. I think I got a little over-cautious because of early ratio problems caused by downloading a large collection in my first few weeks on the site. I like knowing that I can download such a collection now and still maintain a good ratio, but I might, just might, have carried that a bit too far.
