    • 105GB of videos freeleech for 24h

Hopefully it's cool to post this. I just spent about 20,000 seed points to make https://www.gaytor.rent/details.php?id=7b28122cc4c9d769c91a397988232f5a716d2f5e422f6e15 freeleech for the next 24 hours.

I'm not the original uploader but had become the only seeder, and found it while looking for large torrents to clean up to reclaim some disk space. I wanted to try to build up some more seeders for this one. If you've got the disk space, maybe download it while it's freeleech and help keep it available as a seeder?

(While searching to try to see if it was OK to post stuff like this, I learned that apparently I could have just asked a mod to make it freeleech rather than spending most of my points. 😆 But I had a ton built up, so it's no problem. Just didn't want to spend all those points and have no one download the thing.)

    • Hello from a long-time lurker

      Hello!

My account on the main site tells me I joined "287 weeks ago," so I'm not actually new. But after a long time away, I'm back, and want to get more involved!

The site is faster than I remember, and the forums look better than I remember. It's great to be back!

    • RE: Seeds don't upload

The big thing to check is to make sure the port your torrent client is listening on is accessible. If it's not, no one can reach you. It's a fairly common problem: you can open connections to others to download, but if the port isn't open to the Internet, no one can connect to you. (It's also really hard to help with because everyone's setup can vary so much based on what torrent client you're using, whether your computer has some built-in firewall getting in the way, and whether you have a router that can set up port-forwarding.)

It's also possible that nothing is wrong with your client. Freeleech torrents can sometimes be somewhat of a race. If you get in early, you upload tons. But if you're among the last to grab a freeleech torrent, there aren't others that will come along to download it, plus there's maybe 50 other seeders by that point, so those that do come after you will be downloading from all of them. Watching for new freeleech content can help a lot.

You also earn points if you leave stuff seeding even if no one downloads it, and over time those can be redeemed for upload credit.

Full disclosure -- some of us addicts to this have seedboxes: servers running 24/7 on a fast connection. I do it because it's a lot more convenient for me and my home connection has a terrible upload speed, and I like to think it makes things better for others overall because I can seed stuff for others 24/7 on an extremely fast connection. But ratio is somewhat competitive in a sense, and we can kind of tilt the playing field a little without meaning to. 😬

    • RE: Are no-fee VPNs any good?

I'd be deeply suspicious of a free VPN.

Fundamentally, a VPN is just tunneling your Internet traffic through someone else's computer. That gives an unscrupulous VPN operator a whole lot of opportunities -- spy on your traffic, inject ads or malware, etc.

Reputable VPN providers wouldn't do this, of course, because they'd be dragged over the coals and go out of business when it was discovered. But if someone's not charging for a VPN service, I'd question what their motives are. It's possible they're just a privacy advocate with pure motives, but it could also be a lot more sinister.

@Rapsey-0 said in Who are the trolls?:

Given how many activists there are online pushing the notion that being gay has nothing to do with genitals (to accommodate those who identify as the opposite sex but haven't had surgery)

But trans folks aren't our enemies. There's enough hate aimed at LGBTQ folks without us needing to add more by trying to use trans folks as scapegoats or (checks notes) spurious DMCA reports.

@Rapsey-0 said in Who are the trolls?:

Their entire identity depends on it.

Maybe we hang out in different crowds, but none of the trans folks I know have ever advanced an argument like this? A person can identify as male regardless of their assigned genitals, but none has ever argued "videos of vaginal sex are gay porn!" to me or anyone I know.

It occurs to me that some of the trolls making fake DMCA reports are the people who want to flood this site with STRAIGHT content.

If I were straight, I would not want to see a bunch of guys fucking each other like bunnies. But since I am gay, I am perplexed why straight people come to a gay site to begin with, and why they post straight porn.

Does it show somewhere who is reporting them, or are you just guessing? I have always assumed it was homophobes or something.

The straight porn doesn't make sense to me either, but I have to say -- if I was straight, I wouldn't be on a website called "Gay Torrent" to begin with.

      Wasn't this reported in 2020? https://www.wzzm13.com/article/news/politics/elections/police-investigating-after-muskegon-clerk-finds-irregularities-in-voter-registration-applications/69-569903d4-b0f0-43c4-acb5-ff96b7af9a9e

Evidence that the state successfully stopped fraud, reported it to the police, and issued a press release doesn't seem like the smoking gun TGP wants to make it out to be.

    • Amateur from TwinkCity?

This may be too obscure, but it's my white whale. I'm looking for the video this still came from:

      OB4-5-1-320x180.jpg

It was linked from https://web.archive.org/web/20200813163926/https://twinkcity.com/tag/aggressive-wank/ but I never thought to download it when the site was around. I've been able to figure out that the video was hosted on twinkybf.com, but both sites now just redirect to Chaturbate. Wayback Machine archived a bunch of their content, but this was not one of them.

    • RE: What kept you from completing suicide?

A few things have helped me.

I noticed that I always feel my worst at night. I can have a great, happy day but sometimes, lying in bed trying to fall asleep, something in the back of my head tries to tell me I'm an absolute failure. It probably sounds silly, but when I was really struggling with depression, I made myself a promise that if I'm ever feeling like committing suicide, I'll put it off until the morning. There was something weirdly comforting for me about that. I don't have to wrestle with the decision; I can shrug and say, "Meh, maybe tomorrow."

You're apparently not supposed to tell suicidal people, "Think about how much it will hurt others!" because it just makes them feel even worse. But when I was considering it years ago, an image of my little brother popped into my head. He's (to use what seems like an inappropriate comparison in this situation) probably the only person in the world I'd give my life to defend. I realized he would be completely devastated if I died. And I realized that, if I was willing to die to protect him, I needed to be willing to live to protect him, even if it meant coping with the stuff that made me not want to.

Several years ago, I told my doctor that I felt sad a lot of the time. I was, unsurprisingly, diagnosed with depression, and found a medication that helped. I didn't know what to expect and had heard some scary things about anti-depressants, but it changed my life for the better. Don't rule it out as an option!
