Have you ever met some muslims who come out?
-
it seems that even in western countries, it is difficult for them.
-
I've had sex with a Muslim or two, but my goodness they will never come out of the closet!

I can't speak for other nations as i am Australian but i have tonnes of friends that are both out and Muslim
I know several guys and girls who are Turkish and Out , as i am myself , though i am an Australian Born Jew of Turkish descent.why would be out and Muslim be any different than say out and catholic or out and mormon , out and hindu or Jew ?

Hey there! Ex-Muslim (now atheist) here living in SE Asian country where apostasy is illegal and you will be sent to brainwash camp should you renounce your Muslim faith publicly. Here the Malays are forced to be Muslims and no, you CANNOT change your religion no matter what even though you are not practicing it (thus most of them fled the country…)
Problem with Islam is that there are a lot of extremists out there, you should watch what ISIS did with gays... they threw them from tall building! Even the so-called moderates mostly not really moderate at all, you will never see them condemning what ISIS did with gays, heck some of them even support that. Blame the brainwashing since kids tho...
So yeah... I guess I will remain in closet (only come out to my close friends) for my safety...

I'm a muslim and I had tried to came out .. The result is terrifying and luckily I managed to reduce the catastrophe and out of the radar (bullies). What have I learned ?… In a muslim country like Moderate Malaysia, you don't have to shout that you're a gay. Just relax.. no one bother if two men live together. Just don't cross dress and do public display affection (PDA). I know people get satisfaction for being able to express them selves but.. this population will never accept "sexuality is not a choice".
-
I mean I'm in Pakistan and I'm out to basically everyone I know apart from my dad (mom was hard but she's cool now). It's more the fear that you give yourself than the people around you

That's the problem with those 'olier-than-thou, condemning the gays but seek for lesbian porn smh ::)
As for my experience, I expose myself indirectly to my colleagues, you know… those typical gay stereotypes but never publicly said that I'm gay. Not trying to be narcissistic, but I am quite good looking (as most of gays too), thus by indirectly exposing myself like that, I don't have to deal with girls who are seeking a chance for a relationship should I didn't expose myself
And so far so good.

I am Muslim. And I find it very difficult to come out and doesn not necessarily to be out as long as you don't do something prominent. Indonesia, being a country which the majority of people are Muslim, they don't really accept homosexuality and heavily despise it. If you do, there's a high chance that they will judge and reject you because they think it's wrong. There are only a few of them who tolerate gays. My best friend and his girlfriend are some of them and they're Christians.
Due to this, I still haven't come out to my parents. They'll be sure disappointed if they find out…

I have a Muslim friend who came out to his parents when he was around 20. They initially had a negative reaction to it but mellowed gradually. They're now at the point that, while I'm sure they'd prefer him to be with a woman, they accept his (also Muslim) partner and treat him as part of the family.
This is a guy who like me, lives in the UK. His experience is that younger people in the Muslim community are more likely to be accepting of his gayness than those who are older. In that respect, that's pretty much the same pattern as found in the general populous.

Same here in Indonesia. They are still heavily intolerant of LGBT and think that they must be eliminated, despite the fact that Islam never promote violence. It's kinda sad really…

I have a few muslim friends that came out. It was no easy ride and caused a lot of drama for a few years. One of them was a real horror story however after a few years things have settled down with all of them and their family's now accept it. The friend who had the real horror story would tell you the end result was well worth the stress during the process.

That's a good question..

Im a little surprised that PakistanS hasn't blocked gay websites such as this seeing that youtube was (is?) blocked. Stay safe none the less.

I have had some muslims. But no one has had a coming out. They have a problem to be gay as a muslim. Every time they think about religion and sex. They are unhappy about that. They want to change that but the religion is "strong".
-
Not yet be interesting though
-
I have several friends in Algeria and they cannot come out to the family or anyone else. The religion is just set up too strongly against this.
It would be the same for a Mormon in the US.
I think it is bad enough when society says we are wrong but when they try to sell you the idea that God thinks so too, that is way too much -
I am from India. Some of my friends who are gay have parents who have accepted them. But mine haven't. The social and political situation will never change. Heck even America is filled with many people who are racist gay haters and yall know it's the truth, so there is no hope for any change happening here or any of the other countries.

Well I'm Turkish myself and a Muslim. And i don't really want to come out to my family or so.. My sister found it out some years ago and i don't know how.. i don't bother eather where she find it out.. but her reactions was terrible.. she said i'm sick and i need to turn into my religion and pray that it'll change it somehow..
besides that my sister should be more open to it because she's "the younger generation" but when she's like that i don't want to know my parents.. i think they would hunt me or something like that.. they wouldn't accept it. but my dad said some years ago that in turkey and other muslim countries exists many homosexuals we don't get it; just because they're hiding itselfs,.. how he know that? dunno ^^
Edit: umm and i am from austria.. ^^ -

it is utterly obscene to say that islam and its pedo prophet never promote violence. ISIS, Taleban, Lashkar e taiba, hizbt u tahr,…. anever ending list of fanatic extremist islamists and you dare say islam is peacefull. it is the worst cancer plaguing this earth.
