Lovely little rabbit hole here - let's dig in a little, no? Critical thinking anyone?

So, Alice - since Hospitals are reporting having 5x-10x more patients than "normal", and there is, indeed, a pandemic, but these extra people (patients) are NOT due to the current pandemic (COVID-19)...

What, pray tell thee, is the "real" cause for all the extra influx of patients?

Is there some NEW pandemic we haven't heard of?
Are they there, perhaps, due to "mask fatigue"?
Are the illnesses, perhaps, imagined - and not "real"?

I know, they've been watching too much Biden lately on TV! (Have you noticed he's started to take Trump's view of this - get on TV almost every day!)

In any case, inquiring minds want to know? WHY are our hospitals so full? Why are our healthcare workers starting to QUIT over the stress caused by 2+ years of this shit?

I want to know? What's your explanation?

@bi4smooth You again missed the point of the article.

Let me explain it to you. There are more people because of the pandemic. TRUE! but only about half of the reported Covid admissions is because of Covid.

Their must be a reason behind the over claiming by the hospitals. I think it has to do with the amount of financial assistance they are receiving from the federal government but that is my under educated position.

"Almost half of reported NY COVID-19 hospitalizations are not due to COVID-19"

That means that almost half of them are due to COVID-19, and it's a very large number.

This reminds me of a newspaper article (supposedly) published in Oklahoma several years back, that said, "The late Mr. X suffered four gunshot wounds, but fortunately three of them were not fatal."

The death rate for people with omicron is very much higher than that for people with a winter cold.

I suggest that you become more familiar with facts before posting nonsense like this.

No one in the US has died from Omicron. People have died who also had Omicron.

Much like the article states just because you die with Omicron does mean you died of Omicron.

Not true. See https://www.webmd.com/lung/news/20211224/first-omicron-death-in-u-s-was-reinfection and https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-omicron-survival-rate/fact-check-omicron-does-not-have-a-100-survival-rate-as-posts-online-claim-idUSL1N2T72E6

There's still a lot that we don't know, in part because of the lag between infection, hospitalization, transfer to ICU, and death. We'll know more in several weeks.

Until then, let me pose a thought experiment: Are you so sure of your beliefs that you would (a) willingly infect yourself with the omicron variant, and (b) refuse any treatment other than over-the-counter cold remedies? If you answer in the affirmative, I'll nominate you for a Darwin award.

I stand corrected there has been one death from possible death in the world, The only other death was a man in the UK who died with Omicron.

In several weeks it will burn itself out. Meaning the majority of the population will have contracted Omicron.

If I was young and healthy I sure would. But I am neither of those things so I would only take on Omicron if I could be treated with prescription medications.

Try using a search engine other than Google regarding Covid related articles. Google eschews toward the Biden administration view of Covid.

                          I do not use Google.

I also know the meaning of "eschew," which is pretty much opposite from the way you used it.
