Does anyone here know about any effective treatments/remedies for body acne? I have dark blotches left like scars from acne on my back, thighs and butt, and it makes me feel really insecure and embarrassed of my own image. I have already asked some people (especially some girls who are interested and well-informed on cosmetics) and they have told me that lemon juice is probably the most effective on these particular dark marks, it basically bleaches the spot (in fact one girl in particular told me she has paid thousands on professional procedures and products to get rid of her body acne with none of them having any noticeable result but lemon juice worked exceptionally well).

Any suggestions are appreciated! Thank you!!

Guess you can try the lemon juice…

But honestly, if you have acne in other parts of your body besides your face I think you might use some products used for facial acne.

It can also be that you just have very greasy skin (due to age or genetics or both) so you have to use an exfoliant soap when you bathe/shower so discard any humectating soaps you might be using and use a body scrub or sponge.

Well it's not that I have greasy skin, in fact I don't even have acne anymore. My problem is different, I have dark blotches left in the spots that I used to have acne, they are like the aftermath of it and they take years to heal. I have already tried the lemon juice and it helps a little bit but only on the smaller not so dark blotches.

I had lot of acnes. They hurt so I went to the doctor. He prescribed me Tenutan (it might have some other name in your country), the active agent is doxycyclin. It's an anti-biotic. It only works on certain kind of acne. The stronger version is roaccutane, the active agent is isotretinoin. It is used in more severe cases of acne. It is more effective, but the sideeffects are also more severe. It is really the last resort. Fortunately I didn't need this one. The third drug is called skinoren(again it might be branded something else, where you live) the active agent is azelaic acid. It is used against the dark patches that certain acnes leave. All three of them must be prescribed by a doctor.

Also neither of these three drugs can be used during  the summer, and you can not use tanning boots, because your skin will be susceptible to the light.

Yes, that is very true. In fact, this doesn't apply only to drugs, even lemon juice makes your skin more sensitive to UVs

Have you tried the old dandruff shampoo trick? Shower as you normally would and dry yourself. Apply dandruff shampoo to the area and let it dry (might take about 10 mins). Usually done at night and then shower again in the morning.

I had the same problem. I bleached all my dark spots. Twice a month, I would exfoliate all over, then combined baking soda and 3% hydrogen peroxide to form a paste (don't want it to a liquid so it slides off.) Then I applied the paste to all my spots. Over the course of 3 months, everything cleared up.  Although, if you want quicker, more surefire results, you can have a professional laser them off.

you don't get the spots anymore but the hyperpigmentation persist?… I'm not sure, but I think they might be permanent then... hyperpigmentation should only last weeks, months at most.
You could try skin bleaches (not recommended since they're unregulated!)
To lessen their appearance, avoid any and all sunlight on them if possible (sun screen helps but not perfect, covering up is best)

I had issues with acne on my back two years ago and doctor told me to hit the tanning bed for few times and they were really gone. It wasn't something serious and they weren't many, but it did the job so maybe you should consider it too.  😉
