What would you rather download or see?

      A collection that is 100GB

or the same collection that has been divided into ten separate torrents at 10GB each.

      To continue

A collection that is 40GB or the same collection divided up into smaller parts of 10GB or less.

I am working on some collections and was wondering how people would prefer them uploaded. All at once or divided into smaller parts.

There would need to be some kind of advantage or good reason for the separate torrents.

Some people will be put off by the sheer size of a collection of 100GB. Not everyone realises that they can choose which bits of a multi-file torrent they can download. Some members would think they had to download all or nothing.

I don't know how many files you would intend to post in one big torrent but it can be a real pain looking through long lists to choose which parts might be good to download for me.

For my part I prefer one movie, one torrent but I'm peculiar anyway 🙂

            The advantage.

More people are likely to grab a 10GB torrent then a 100GB torrent.
The torrents will download to completion faster.
uTorrent and seedboxes (at least mine) can take a long time checking a 100GB torrent before seeding. I think the time for checking is over an hour.

I realize people can download just a part of a torrent, however, to vote on categories they need to download the whole torrent.

I would rather see them split up.  Agree with Levi's reasons.  Also makes it more convenient if you end up wanting to delete one part but keep seeding another.

If it is part of a collection, maybe include links to the other parts for convenience, but I'd rather download ten torrents than deal with one massive one - and having to decide which parts I want based on 10-20 pictures for maybe hundreds of videos.

For normal files I would prefer one torrent to one file.

However for a series or related files, I would prefer them bundled together and save me the troubles of hunting for each and checking that their qualities are consistent as a set. The wonderful thing about the Net is that there are a few very nice guys who would consistently do this bundling for the benefits of everybody. I would look for their torrents and never disappointed by the qualities.

For that reason I would wait till series like Modern Family to complete and bundled before I download. Then I would bing watch the whole series without waiting week by week for each episode.

                I like to talk dirty.

Personally, I'd prefer a large torrent be divvied up into smaller ones. My eyes kinda get wide and glassy when I see 100 GB+ sized torrents. O_O

Split up for me too. 100+ GB torrent are simply too much to comprehend for my poor little brain.

Even if they are 10GB in size!   **

I think large collections are the way to go, personally. Why download 15 torrents for a complete siterip when you could have all the files in one folder? It just doesn't make sense to me I guess.

If you don't want to download a huge torrent, just download parts of it. As for needing to look through a long list, you either know what you're looking for in a big siterip torrent or you don't; filenames won't help you choose which to download if you're unfamiliar, only the description/pictures. A well made torrent will have screenshots of each video, several videos to a picture, multiple pictures attached to the torrent as a preview.

This is just imo, of course 🙂

I'm afraid I disagree with most of that. Let's not assume all big torrents are site rips.

Downloading individual files is not a great chore in the scheme of things

You are assuming people will know what they are looking for. Part of the 'charm' of torrents is stumbling across things you didn't know about.

File names can be very useful.

Downloading a part-torrent means you will never become a seeder for that torrent. You can still seed the parts you have but you will always be a downloader.

A well made torrent will have…

Can't disagree with that but not all torrents are 'well made'.

So I still prefer individual torrents 🙂

I suppose that's true, not all large torrents are siterips, and we all probably download plenty of single file torrents.

I guess even with non siterips, and even when you don't know what you're looking for, I just don't want to download a hundred torrents instead of one. The examples I was thinking of in my head were, first, IslandStuds. There was a huge torrent with all the files in a single folder, sorted by name, but it was deleted and now we have 15+ smaller torrents. Each with their own folder structure. Or how about a Tube-rip torrent (like chaturbate and other webcam sites)? Would you rather download a individual torrents or have the option to download them all at once?

I suppose in the end it depends on what kind of torrent it is? Collection vs random, and also if there are screens or not.

Also, if you seed all you randoms, the less common mega torrent partially downloaded isn't going to hurt you much for the lack of uploading.

Personally I would rather see them split up. However as a crazy idea why not provide both options? Then people can choose which one they want?

The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you’re hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward

I don't think I've ever downloaded a siterip. I prefer to choose individual movies by name and because they look interesting

I sometimes download popular siterips that are here (belamionline, bilatinmen etc.) without wanting to view them, because I know they'll be a near constant upload for me; coupled with great upload speeds, it's a nice ratio bump over time.

I prefer spilt up, where I can pick and choose. But preferably it should have previews at the screenshot area.

Its always better smaller torrents, more if you take into account most countries don't have super wide broadband connections and must be more picky when it comes to download. 10GB is rather big, not to mention 40GB.

I think 10GB parts would be better. That way you can choose what parts are you most interested in. I know that you can choose what files you want when activating a torrent but then it will appear in the leecher list forever because it isn't completed while you seed it…

That's very true but you can still seed those parts you did download. Once you have reached what you consider a reasonable upload ratio for the parts, you can just delete it from your list 🙂

Yes, I always do that. I never remove a torrent until I haven't seeded it enough, even if it's a torrent I haven't downloaded in full. Considering all the above I finally think it doesn't matter 10GB or 100GB, every way has its advantages  ^-^
