The fear's common: the fear of not being accepted by your friends, relatives, society. It's ok. Generally speaking, in most social groups your sexuality doesn't matter and the only important thing is your personality - if you behave like sh*t people would treat you the same way. Conclusion: be a good man and everything will be ok.

Though my society is quiet homophobic I didn't have any problems caused by coming out. Even with a straight guy on which I had a crush.
I still don't believe all this to be true.
