The SNP and their fanatics can't do basic math.  During the last independence referendum, they outlined their post-independence budget and spent every penny they had/will have several times over.  The plane of existence I live in doesn't work in such a utopian money from nothing sorta way.  If I only have £10, it means I only have £10.  In independent Scotland, it means I have as much cash as I want and never have to borrow any.

The UK, like the rest of the west has "social housing" more commonly known as "council housing" but that term is going away as the housing stock is being, more and more, transferred to charities.

Rather than having the rents set at 100% market value and subsidize base on need, the government put a 60% market value cap and subsidize from there.    This was set by the UK government and when it was devolved to Scotland, they kept it as well.

Previously, once you got into a council house/flat, you were in for life and your rent never went up, only ever down.  You could also leave your council house/flat in your will.  Over time the list of people you could leave it to was reduced, but still sizable considering it actually belonged to the state.  Anyway, a few years ago, during the coalition government, rUK ("rest of the UK" excluding Scotland) changed the law for anyone moving into council housing after the date the law came into effect.    If you were in prior to that date, you could keep on keeping on, as it were.  Anyone going into council housing after that date will get reassessed every 5 years t make sure they still qualify.  Scotland, under the SNP, is the only part of the UK to keep the old rules.

Due to "right to buy" and the lack of building of new council housing, there's a massive shortage of council housing.  Also the "right to travel" within the EU, people from poorer EU countries have flocked to the UK, now it's the mass immigration of economic migrants from 3rd world countries.

Anyway, here's the question for you;

I have advocated raising the cap to full market value and discounting from there based on need and frequent assessments to assure need.

The "wage gap" isn't a thing in the way 99% of leftists believe.

The correct definition for it is; it's the average wage of all people in full-time employment divided by gender.    It doesn't look at things like women working fewer hours than men and professions each of the genders choose.

As an example (according to the AMA), the highest paid medical profession is surgery, with the single highest paid profession being a brain surgeon.  Women make up only 19% of surgeons and 4% of brain surgeons.  Similar figures in the UK.

Conversely, women dominate the lowest paid medical professions such as pediatrician and gynocologist.

According to 1985 figures (latest I could find), only 2% of people in the mining industry are women and less than 1% of them was actually involved in mining.    Obviously, this means that women in the mining industry make a lot less than men if you do a genieric piss take of a survey on wages.

Not being paid equally for the same thing is highly illegal in the UK, yet under 13 years of Labour rule there were only 16 prosecutions for this.  That screams volumes about how realistic the problem actually is.  The way vaginalists and their cucks tell it, we should have had trillions of prosecutions a day for it.

The Confederacy was the southern states where slavery was legal.    The south's economy (cotton, tobacco, etc) was very labor intensive and would have failed if slavery was outlawed.

The Republicans used ending slavery as a way to end the stranglehold of the Democrats (also referred to as "Dixie-crats") had on the south.

Democrats were the party of the KKK until at least the 1960s.

Democrats of the 1960s (think LBJ) did more harm to blacks than anything since slavery ended.  Due to the way the welfare laws are written, it's better for single moms than for families with the father in the home.  Also, the more you breed, the more cash you get rolling in.

Southern Pride is a mixed bag.  Liberals claim it's only ever about racism while ignoring the fact that a lot of blacks also have Southern Pride.
