I watched the series before I started to read the books. Not sure that is the best order. The books are quite 'slow' compared to the series, but give you a much deeper insight in the characters and everything that is going on. Also, the storyline is sometimes a little different. I would say, enjoy the series for now and read the books in a few years or so. Or the other way around for that matter. Anyway, doing it simultaneous isn't working for me.

I keep mine trimmed. It makes it look more manly than shaved and cleaner than full grown.
