In fact, back in those days, I probably would have been somewhat leftist myself, asking the King and the Pope, who said that you were ROYAL? Who gave you DIVINE authority? It was that kind of thinking that led to the Protestant Reformation and the founding of America - the American Revolution. It wasn't until the Communists of Russia and the Socialists of Germany and the Italian Socialist Dictatorship and the Chinese idea of Communism came around with the Secularist Revolutionary Ideology full blast, that was responsible for the mass slaughter of hundreds of millions.
The American Revolution was different, although there was the trail of tears and slavery which was promulgated through the Democratic Party, and although America didn't start slavery, we ended it. More specifically, the Republicans did. And now the Pope and the DNC are totally communist. The Pope even warned recently about Libertarians, when in fact, Libertarian means "those who believe in Free Will." Hmm, something to think about. Free Will is a Biblical concept, and he's supposed to be the Representative of God? A Communist Pedophile Leader? I don't think so. Communism, regardless of whether it fought against the evils of the Royal Blue Bloods, has never been good for the world, and it never will, because regardless of what kind of socialism it is, you always have the ones at the top distributing the goods, while keeping the lion's share. Hillary wants Socialism, Obama wants Socialism, Bernie wants Socialism, the Pope wants Socialism, all so they can have power.

that's 600 Million dollars AUS that can be spent in other areas far more important.Australia is unlike the US , we already have firm laws that protect all its citizens , even before US legalised same sex marriage we had and still do have a lot of laws protecting defacto relationships that includes gays.
so the horror stories you hear about one partner dying , making the other homeless,doesnt happen over here.if people want to have a civil marriage , then just make it law get it over and done with , just don't waste money on this nonsensical issue that only benefits a privileged few.
marriage , be it same sex or otherwise has never had a trickle down effect for anyones rights. as an institution its based on unequal rights anyway,by its very nature its "we have rights afforded above yours".

Have to disagree with you there. In Australia being "DE FACTO" does certainly not give you the same rights. My partner recently died of cancer and because we were not "married" i was not recognized by law as his next of kin. His parents never accepted our relationship and refused me to be at his bedside as he was dying. There are also several tax, superannuation and inheritance issues not covered by being in a "De Facto" relationship. Do some research before you enter such a technical issue.
In Australia, we have one of the most open and inclusive societies in the world. We have the biggest gay celebration in the world. We have free adoption and IVF laws. For women we were the first country in the world to give women the vote. Abortion has been legal since the early 80's. While being gay is still not totally accepted by the whole country, it is most cities and most country towns, there is very few places left where you will not find out and proud gay people, and a lot of couples with children. We have all the same rights as straights do except marriage. Gay people are recognized as being in a DE FACTO relationship (any couple living together for 2 years or more) the same as straight couples. Which means that the government lists you as being a couple and will tax you as being in a couple, but when it comes to other laws they don't. For example, If my partner were in hospital, i am not listed as his next of kin. So his mother or father could refuse me from being at his bedside in the hospital. Problem is that for the last few elections we have had a conservative government who are split up the middle in their party, but around 75% - 80% of the Australian public are for gay marriage. They just refuse to vote on it. All our media debates it DAILY and still they refuse to budge. It does make me angry, but it will happen in the near future. On reading a lot of your posts and hearing that its still not accepted to be gay, let alone get married makes me feel for you people, makes me glad that i live here. DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!!
