@mhorndisk:
All these limousine liberals telling us how to live, while doing the opposite. Do what I say, not what I do. The hypocrisy is stunning. This is the ideology of the left. They actually admire these hypocrites.
As a socialist… no. No I really do not admire these people. They actually embody everything wrong with the structure of the Euro-American economic economic and political order whether Democratic or Republican, whether liberal or conservative. You know, that problem where it's always all empty words and gestures about justice and equality or the rule of law or responsible finances. Empty gestures and self-serving hypocrisy.
The people you are making posts about are all rich elites and I analyze them as a class problem, not a left/right problem. They're like that at least in part because society made them into those people by elevating them into demigods through media worship or mammon worship. They may have marginally better personal values than the elites to the centre-right and far right, but they're values that only rarely shine through the haze of being a rich entitled prick. At the worst, as mere mortals they'd only be that self-righteous prick of a neighbour you hate.
The problem is not Leonardo DiCaprio's hypocrisy. The real absurdity is that any entertainer is as rich and powerful as some small island nations -- and that people would hang on his every word as if he were a goddamned Nobel laureate.
