Many people have changed their opinion about gay marriage. Even almost half of Republicans support it. People do change. So what? @MrMazda What do you mean by "us" and "them"? According to the most recent stats I could find, nearly 70% of Canadians are white. Were your "thems" non-whites, or something else? DEI, as it works in the US is not only focused on race, but also women, sexual minorities, the disabled, etc. "Inclusion" is aimed at just that; aiding those who have historically been "excluded."

I guess I'm an idealist, but I do wish people would work towards a world where this is only "us." When you start dividing, it is possible for anyone to end up becoming "them." My guess is that is why many Caucasians are threatened by this notion. They are not used to and feel very uncomfortable with being "them."
