@MrMazda I disagree. There are still actual journalists and investigative reporters out there; I'm talking about "news," not editorials or opinion pieces. Anyone with critical reading skills can see the difference.

@raphjd said in Ghana passes bill that makes identifying as LGBTQ+ illegal:
Maybe you should watch Campus Reform
LOL...that bogus channel where they do fake interviews with their own people? And even if they are real interviewees, they are just random college students, or whatever. They are not politicians or academics or anyone that really matters. That is your "real" journalism? Explains a lot..... Watch some of the interviews done with Bubba and Daisy Mae outside Trump rallies. They are highly entertaining and cringe-worthy, but I don't think they are representative of the average GOP voter.
Seriously, you claim to be so well-informed, yet you get your news from YouTube? The DIY of journalism? Funny. You deride the Guardian, yet link the New York Post or some other Murdoch-controlled shit rag. You only take yourself seriously with that stuff.
I'll stick with actual journalists rather than more right-wing or left-wing hacks, sycophants and propagandists. Thanks anyway for the "recommendation"....lol

@raphjd Forgive me for not taking your word for it, but for obvious reasons I'm guessing, as with most of these topics, you've got the wrong end of the stick.
But if find this "theory" written down somewhere, please do share it.

I read and listen. Both sides.

I've seen a lot of white saviours saying that blacks would not be homophobic if it wasn't for honkeys. The concept is that non-whites would not have a thought in their heads unless whites put it there.
No, you've never seen that. It's just something you've made up. That's the problem with you people; you just invent things to support your agenda: "stolen" elections, Biden impeachment, criminals pouring across the border, after-birth abortions, "graphic" porn in kindergartens - facts mean nothing to your lot.

@raphjd said in Ghana passes bill that makes identifying as LGBTQ+ illegal:
So, you are admitting that blacks can be homophobic all on their own?
That would mean they aren't the victims your side loves to claim.Where to start? Why do I need to "admit" that blacks can be homophobic? I am well aware that many of them are. But I would contend that it is not their skin color that makes them so; it depends on their cultural background and religion just like it does for any other race. In fact, many American Evangelicals have supported some of the most draconian anti-gay laws in various African countries.
https://foreignpolicy.com/2023/03/19/africa-uganda-evangelicals-homophobia-antigay-bill/
Have I, or any other liberal said that blacks cannot be homophobic? No. It's just another fatuous result of your lack of understanding of what it means to be "woke" or progressive. And I would venture to say that blacks living in Ghana are no longer victims of racism (ever since your people pulled out) in the same way blacks living in white majority countries have been.
Am not sure why you thought convoluting this two things would win you an argument, but seriously mate, major apples and oranges.

@raphjd Do you really understand the meaning of "imply"? It would appear not. If you "inferred," I am afraid you did so in error.
Your assumptions of me are just tedious now. I don't believe you are stupid, so I guess, like Trump, you are just disingenuous because you think that wins you the argument. And because we are online, you are unable to hear the chorus of groans.
Many people have changed their opinion about gay marriage. Even almost half of Republicans support it. People do change. So what? Trump, on the other hand, as always been and will always be an opportunistic, sociopathic, narcissistic whore. And anyone who would vote for him is either a blooming idiot or an invertebrate devoid of integrity.

RE: Gay couple marry at Mar-A-Lagoposted in Politics & Debate
@raphjd I never claimed he was a homophobe. I don't think he cares about anything but himself. He is a sociopathic, narcissistic whore. He pretends to be a racist, homophobic Christian to pander to the idiots who vote for him. And if you read, many of his cult members are pretty upset about this wedding.
I wonder how many abortions he is responsible for?
What do you think his chances would be of becoming PM? lol

@raphjd In other words: Trump has no principles and will do anything for a buck.

RE: The DEI Threat?posted in Politics & Debate
@MrMazda What do you mean by "us" and "them"? According to the most recent stats I could find, nearly 70% of Canadians are white. Were your "thems" non-whites, or something else? DEI, as it works in the US is not only focused on race, but also women, sexual minorities, the disabled, etc. "Inclusion" is aimed at just that; aiding those who have historically been "excluded."
I guess I'm an idealist, but I do wish people would work towards a world where this is only "us." When you start dividing, it is possible for anyone to end up becoming "them." My guess is that is why many Caucasians are threatened by this notion. They are not used to and feel very uncomfortable with being "them."
And you have to see the irony when White people in North America talk about "invasions"

The DEI Threat?posted in Politics & Debate
Why is it that it is mainly white, heterosexual, Christian, non-disabled, conservative men that are so against diversity, equality and inclusion?

Your claim that NO ONE supports it is bullshit.
Sorry, I should have been more precise; no one I know. And I know a lot of people; many of them very liberal educators.
I think maybe you'd be better off talk to US teachers and librarians rather than listening to, well, you know.

I'm a proud gay man, not some "queer" freak, thank you very much.
What does that mean? You are an Orthodox Gay? The "right kind" of gay? Not one of these new fangled kinds of gay like the young folk are doing?
Your gay or the highway?

And isn't it nice that unlike not that long ago, you can go about your life, for the most part, with dignity and not being considered "a freak"? One would almost think that victims of intolerance would learn tolerance, wouldn't one?

It's funny how you are adamant that things are never happening only because you haven't heard about it.
I said I'd never heard of it, not that it wasn't happening. This is your problem. You have such an agenda that you don't really read the words before you. You would rather just hate everyone. Like I said: fertile ground for research.

RE: A right-wing readerposted in Politics & Debate
@raphjd said in A right-wing reader:
It's a joke because YOU PEOPLE refuse to debate or discuss in any sort of honest way.
Keep telling yourself that. You, the great example of honest debate. I had never heard of "Lawn Boy" until it was mentioned by you, and I didn't even comment on it. But I guess that since I didn't specifically condemn it, you, in your honest debate style, assumed I condoned it and told me to go fuck kids. Very Murdochian. You seem to live in a black and white world, and for some reason it makes it easier for you to make sweeping judgements about people. (Notice I've never called you a racist, fascist or self-loathing homosexual despite the vast evidence).
Anyway, things are clearer to me now. I was under the misapprehension that you were also an American since you erroneously claim to know so much about it. It must be very frustrating for you to live in a place where the Conservatives are basically Democrats.
I may pop in from time to time. I have an academic interest in social anthropology, and this forum is a fertile source of extremist anomalies.
Until next time, have a good weekend, mate.
