@nf16 said in Adequate penis sizes:

@bi4smooth : With all due respect, the whole "selective breeding" thing is mostly a myth. Even if it were not, there is no evidence that male slaves were bred for penis size. Large-scale studies of penis size have not found any statistical significant differences between black and white penis sizes.

Not so much - being born & raised in the American South, and educated in the 1970's and 80's - when we weren't being so prudish about these things, I was exposed to this information in both HS and college.

The printed flyers (advertisements) from the slave auctions, as well as the documented sales of slaves, often mention their estimated age, precise height & weight, and an "other" category that was PRIMARILY used for their breast or penis size & usually filled in as U for unremarkable, L for large, or XL for extra-large. Sales receipts from the auctions show a clear correlation to the "other" having an L or XL entered to higher sales prices.

NOTE: sometimes the "other" field would have a "H" entered - indicating that they were "household trained" - that is, trained to work inside the owner's home. The field would also sometimes have a number - which was used solely for women, to show how many live children she had birthed - women who had successfully had children were highly prized, as the children were "free slaves".

History aside, remembering that the immigration of dark-skinned people has not abated since the abolition of slavery 155+ years ago, it's fair to say that there has been ample time for the "law averages" to come into play, and the percentage of Black Americans who can trace their ancestry to slaves is decreasing (statistically speaking: they are being diluted). As a result, the differences are "evening out" over time.

That said, many of the "studies" you refer to were flawed on 2 counts:

they were run by white men who had an interest in showing that there was no "real" difference - because of an ill-formed belief that a larger penis was somehow "superior" - and they couldn't have a study showing blacks as being superior! If you read the statistical details, you'll see that they "threw out" specimens that were "abnormally large or small"... in other words, they pared down the samples so as to all-but-guarantee the result they wanted! the more modern the sample, the more "diluted" the pool of Black men who are the result of the selective breeding exercise in American slavery.

I've looked for it, but there was a Japanese study from pre-WWII that looked solely at Black American men descended from slaves - and they DID find a statistically significant size difference - in penis length, overall height, and low BMI (associated with muscularity). We saw the study in my college statistics class (these studies were being used to show how filtering, or not-filtering, the source data can be used to skew results), but I haven't found it in my Google searches.

Since this discussion has the potential to get quite ugly, can we please go back to the original topic? Personally, yes, I'm happy with what I have. As a top, I'm perhaps not as concerned about the penis size of my partner as some might be. His ass, on the other hand.....

I agree that the topic could get uncomfortable - but that doesn't mean it should be ignored either!

Again, as a study in American culture: isn't it amazing that it's OK to refer to Asian men's smaller endowments, but not to Black men's larger ones? (Isn't it even MORE amazing that we throw ALL Asians - from Chinese and Japanese and Korean, to Thai, Vietnamese, and Indo-Chinese, to Indian and Pakistani! These are NOT all one "race" of people!)

Personally, I couldn't care less about penis size. My ex-fiance was Black and about 8.5" in length (erect). My current b/f is Vietnamese and is about 6.5" in length (erect)... I fall in between those 2 measurements (I was smaller than my ex-fiance, and I'm slightly larger than my current b/f).... and all of that means didly-squat!

Although, whenever this comes up, I'm reminded of a segment from a live concert by the a cappella group The Flirtations. They have a segment called "One of us," in which they say things like, "One of us was a high school wrestler." One of those statements was, "One of us thinks size matters," at which point, the individual in question piped up, "And the rest of them are lying!"

It is sad, but true - men have been comparing penises pretty much since we realized we had them! One of the things I try to teach my children is that - it is important for your lifelong mental health that you come to terms with, and like your own body: height, complexion, eye color, body-style, hairy or not, large-breasted or small, large penis or small - these are all aspects of your body that are generally (without surgery) unchangeable! Learn to like it, appreciate it, and do not envy others for the body THEY got! It was all an accident of nature... it doesn't make them superior to you in any way... just different!

A related question: when you're reading an online profile hookup site, how much do you automatically subtract from their stated penis length?

That's an excellent question... but, alas, I don't add or subtract anything - because I don't care so much... I'd rather know about their chest and face vs their penis! (I know that's just me - I don't intend to speak for others!)

I think so. A good gay friend is someone you share interests with - that's usually a good foundation for a relationship. Possible. But you'd also have to be prepared to potentially lose the friendship if the lovers part works out badly.

      @fun17
Sharia law does not require evidence, at least not as we know it in the US.

"Revenge" accusations are not uncommon - all it takes is to get a few citizens "in good standing" to attest that someone has broken the code, and they will be punished - severely.

There is nothing in place to stop a "band of queers" - gay men and women who have not yet been "outed" - from making accusations against the leaders of these vigilante groups - and not only shaming them (by making accusations), but also stripping them of their "power" by marking them as accused.

My point is not that this should be done! No, rather to point out that this kind of "law enforcement" is RIFE with abuse and false accusations. It fell to the wayside CENTURIES ago, not because people stopped believing in their religion, or became less pious - but because this "system" is deeply flawed, unjust, and totally unreliable as a way to enforce the law.

Of course, but why is it so "difficult" (or they are so afraid of) for them to come out? There are other jobs where coming out seems to be easier than in sports, and especially in football.

      @raphjd:

Of course, there are gay players in every sport.

      ?

Viruses tend to evolve over time to be more benign - as we've seen with another retrovirus (RNA virus), covid.

A pathogen's ability to cause a disease is NOT related to the symptoms it produces. What tends to happen with airbone infections is that weaker strains (with weaker symptoms) are more likely to spread successfuly because they don't affect people's routine. Stronger strains are more likely to make people too ill to actually go out and infect others. Having weaker symptoms is a key to keep the virus circulating, this does not always mean it is more or less harmful.

Take HIV as an example, it basically has no symptom at all. You can live a whole decade completely unaware before getting ill from what HIV has done to your immune system in the past years. HIV is a model of efficiency and there is no evolutional basis for it to become less dangerous or to develop symptoms.

      .

Surely HIV has done it a little? surely it's less malign by now, than it was in the 80s and 90s when killing everyone?

This has nothing to do with the virus itself but rather with the drugs used to treat it. There always were reasons to finance new drugs, but prejudice had a big impact on this, both politically and culturally. It took a lot of time for effective drugs to be developed. The first ones did the job but also had enormous side effects so there were lots of people who just prefered to not take them as they'd feel less sick not taking anything...

      .

If that's true: Why wouldn't people monitor viral & T or CD4 levels, dial up meds whenever they start to go wrong, but dial back (giving the body & the person a break) if they clearly go the right way?

This question I don't fully understand... If you're referring to drugs that are administrated on a six-monthy basis, for instance, there are lots of factors that impose a burden, like it being too expensive or requiring drug levels that could be harmful to our bodies. It being a possibility or not is up to technological advancement and finnancial investment of course. Currently there are trials taking place for PrEP drugs that are administered on a monthly basis or three-monthly basis.

      Directly from Wikipedia:

      |

Ebola virus disease or simply Ebola, is a disease that affects humans and other primates caused by ebola viruses; there is no cure or specific treatment that is currently approved for market, treatment has been primarily supportive in nature.

      | |

They are working on a vaccine.  But a bunch of anti-science nuts oppose the existence of vaccination.

I repeat, there has never been a cure for a viral illness.  Don't expect that HIV will be the first viral illness to be cured since it has a lot more complexities that most viruses don't have.
