There are many different types of lube. You should check out different brands. Rule of thumb is that water-based lube dries out faster and that silicon-based lube is more difficult to clean (in addition to removing it from the sheets). Also, if you need to fast before intercourse, it's probably not worth the effort, as food is a major element in comfort and stress levels.
