    • RE: White Supremacist Trump Supporters March On City Park

      @magentas:

      Incidents like this are happening more and more, as the alt-right movement feels emboldened by Trump's election. He has brought all the bigots of every stripe out of their collective closets to do as they always do- terrorize minorities.

      Events like what exactly? People protesting peacefully? Is it only okay if people of color, gender confusion, socialists, etc. to protest not-so-peacefully? This protest was peaceful. No incidents. The counter protest the next night led to 3 arrests; started by a lovely progressive spitting on a conservative blogger.

      Not everyone who flies/wears the confederate flag is a racist.    For many it's simply a symbol of southern pride.   For some it's a symbol of rebellion.

      Only an SJW would reduce everything into an ism and/or a phobia.

      It's by definition anti american

      In no definition of the word can it be expressed to be "anti-American." This is LITERALLY the most ridiculous argument against the flag that I have ever heard. Please source some SCHOLASTIC information regarding such a claim.

      The people who flew that flag fought against the America we have today.

      You should REALLY sit back and think before you respond. For one thing, the Confederacy has been dead for 152 years. The America we have today didn't exist 152 years ago. The America we have today is NOTHING like the America that existed then, especially in terms of size and scope of the federal government, which is one one of the core reasons for the war. The America we have today might have caused the vast majority of Northern states to secede as well.

      @alibix:

      It's both. They aren't mutually exclusive.

      The confederate flag is also the definition of anti-american.

      Do you need a dictionary, history book, civics book, or sociology book? Or all of them?

      1. The CSA didn't try to overthrow the federal government.
      2. The CSA didn't start a war against the federal government.
      3. The CSA was literally the Confederate States of America.

      Obama went 11 months between questions from reporters at one point. 11 months! How is that not hiding, and that was even from his worshipers?

    • RE: Barack Hussein Obama is not a Muslim?

      @Negrescence:

      (1)The whole muslim focus is just a push to rail people against him. (2)Why is it that out of all the presidents Fox News often mentioned Obama's middle name. They wanted to well up peoples xenophobia/Islamophobia and coral them like sheep. (3)He was treated entirely different from the right out of all the other presidents. (4)That sounds like racism to me.

      1. You are probably correct. I think he is probably an atheist. Most socialists are. He worships at the altar of government, not of any particular god from what I can discern.
      2. I can say, in all honesty, I think this is your confirmation bias at work. I can't tell you that I have ever noticed any appreciable spike of his middle name's usage on the channel. To be fair, let's be real, Barack Obama is muslim-sounding enough that they don't really need to add the Hussein. If you hear it on Fox, you might be more apt to notice it than if you heard it elsewhere. I also think your confirmation bias is at work to assume conservatives are xenophobic. Most are very much in favor of LEGAL immigration and immigrants. Our current FLOTUS is an immigrant! Islamaphobia is an irrational fear of Muslims. Considering the vile things extremist Muslims do, and the realities of Sharia, and how mass migration of Muslims into Western culture is causing major acts of terror and no-go zones, I am not sure that a distaste, dislike, fear of Muslims is irrational.
        I have no clue what an ocean reef has to do with this or sheep, so I can't respond.
      3. His democratic predecessor was impeached! How was he treated worse? (By the way, most of the political tit for tat that is usually used to suggest this typically has its genesis in the way the Dems treated a Republican president.) Also, no other major change in existing programs/ taxes has ever passed without bipartisan support until Obamacare. That act alone would cause Republicans no desire to work with the Dems after that debacle.
      4. 44 was elected because he was 1/2 black and because his name was Barack Obama. The country tried to prove to the world that we weren't racist or Islamaphobic. We elected a first-term senator with no real experience at anything other than as a community organizer. So, you are right, his election was completely due to people judging him solely for the color of his skin and looking past his completely blanked out history and lack of achievement.

      Rather than focusing on actual oppression, people are getting butt hurt of some historical thing.

      You didn't actually make an argument that the confederate flag isn't a symbol of racism, presumably because you know it is. Instead, what you did is lump together rapping about white people not hiring black people with being upset about our government proudly flying a flag that symbolizes the treasonous lengths white people once went to protect their right to treat other people as chattel slavery.

      Don't rewrite history. The War was not about slavery, alone, and actually had NOTHING to do with moral issues of slavery, but of the economic and financial consequences.
      Slavery of blacks on this continent would never have existed if their fellow Africans weren't so willing to sell each other into it.

      There is a world of difference.   A private company is liable in many ways for services.  A church is pretty much exempt from any liability.  Ever hear of priests molesting children?

      Ever hear of the more than 4 billion dollars in settlements and fees or the more than 10 dioceses who have gone bankrupt?

      There is a case that was just heard by SCOTUS that will deal with the issue of this thread. They can decide it.

      Typical liberal democrat. When facts aren't on your side, try and obfuscate and twist meanings to fit an agenda so you can call people names. When that gets called out you call it spam or irrelevant.

      FTR: O'Reilly was actually one of the "real" commentators who covered Obama. He called out what he believed to be his and his administration's failings, but he also called out others who were overly harsh or just plain partisan and discussed the things he thought Obama was doing right. I hate to admit is, because I have always hated O'Reilly, but the truth is the truth.

      8 years in office, 3 sit down interviews:
      1st was in March '10 to try and get his Obamacare to poll better so he could get it passed.
      2nd was the one you imaged was actually aired on the FOX channel in conjunction with their pre-SuperBowl coverage 4 years later. It also had him chiding Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly as being unfair for asking questions about ObamaCare’s shortcomings, the IRS scandal, and Benghazi.
      Last was in April '16, to Chris Wallace, a registered Democrat and one of the moderators for the upcoming Presidential debates.

      Obama may have been many things, but he wasn't the greatest advocate for freedom of the press.

    • RE: #45 Has Fired FBI Director James Comey

      @PorchMonk:

      On Tuesday, Sean Spicer, when asked if the White House had anything to do with Comey's firing said:

      "It was all him. … No one from the White House. That was a DOJ decision."

      On Thursday, Donald Trump told Lester Holt:

      "I was going to fire Comey. My decision."

      Tell us again how the reason didn't change.

      Again, you are assuming that Spicer knows everything. Sometimes he screws up. The President HIMSELF has explained this to a biased reporter that is part of the biased media. Trump doesn't hide from the media, and he also gives interviews and questions to outlets that are critical of him, unlike his predecessor. This is one reason they need to do away with the press briefings. Submit questions and let the Press Office reply at their leisure.

      The separation of church and state ends when tax dollars are given to perform actions for the state.

      There is no codified separation. There is the no state establishment of a church. Giving money to a private company for a service is no different than giving money to a church for the same service.

Also #45 made things more complicated with his recent NBC News interview with Lester Holt. Why does the reason for Comey's firing keep changing?

      MORE FAKE NEWS!!! He never threatened to resign:

    • RE: Did Trump admit to obstruction of justice?

      @Drwas:

      It is unclear if Trump understands the implications of mentioning the “made-up Russia story” in the same sentence that he discussed his reasons for firing Comey. If Trump were to admit that he fired Comey because he was irked by the FBI’s investigation into the Trump campaign’s possible connections to Russian election interference, he would be admitting to obstruction of justice.

      That same charge was what ultimately led to President Richard Nixon’s resignation. Nixon was investigated for obstruction of justice for his hand in covering up the break-in at the Watergate Hotel. With this latest gaffe, the parallels between the two presidents have become more glaring.

      First, if what has been "reported" by such venerable news organizations as the WaPo or NYT can be relied upon, the investigation was begun because of an unreliable dossier that was prepared for opposition research. No intelligence agency ANYWHERE has found it credible, so IF as has been reported and that is true, Trump is correct in being "irked" and questioning the already questionable judgment of Comey. Plus, the firing of Comey doesn't impede or obstruct the investigation, as was testified under oath by Acting FBI Director (and Democrat) McCabe. Also, Grassley AND FEINSTEIN that Comey did inform them that the President is NOT under investigation. So, as was laid out by Rosenstein, there was just cause to fire Comey, and even if he was investigating Trump, Trump could still fire him for his mishandling and job performance elsewhere. Otherwise, every FBI agent would undertake investigations of every president the moment the election is over for job security. That is a ridiculous notion!

      Second, as has been pointed out by many legal experts, firing an FBI Director is COMPLETELY different from firing the AG, the Dep. AG and a Special Prosecutor. Any attempts to link them are not born by reason or logic.

    • RE: #45 Has Fired FBI Director James Comey

      Some unnamed source claims the Dep. AG threatened to resign and you take it as Gospel! It would have made zero sense to fire Comey BEFORE now. He fired him once he got his top 2 guys at the DOJ FINALLY confirmed so they could then BOTH be included in the search for a new head of the FBI, someone that would be responsible directly to the Deputy AG.
      As for the Dep. AG taking the blame, it's a ridiculous claim because the only person that fired Comey was Trump. Now, if the highly respected Rosenstein didn't believe the following passage he should never have written it and his name to the bottom:

      _  "Although the President has the power to remove an FBI director, the decision should not be taken lightly. I agree with the nearly unanimous opinions of former Department officials. The way the Director handled the conclusion of the email investigation was wrong. As a result, the FBI is unlikely to regain public and congressional trust until it has a Director who understands the gravity of the mistakes and pledges never to repeat them. Having refused to admit his errors, the Director cannot be expected to implement the necessary corrective actions."_

      The reason hasn't changed, btw. It is entirely possible that there were multiple reasons to fire Comey, but why is there a need to drag every single one out of the closet. Trump had a valid reason, and he used it. Everything else is a search in the hopes of finding a story! Just because a Republican does something it doesn't automatically mean that it was wrong; no matter what the "news" tells you!

      (What is more of a story is how Vince Foster died of a "suicide" the day after President Clinton fired his fiercely independent FBI Chief, William Sessions.)

    • RE: #45 Has Fired FBI Director James Comey

      First off, the timing has already been debunked. Dep. AG confirmed less than 2 weeks before his underling is fired.

      Trump wanted Comey gone, everyone wanted Comey gone, and Comey's boss agreed that Comey needed to go since he had been unwilling to admit errors he made in response to the extraordinary errors happening above him (Clintons, Lynch, Rice).

      As for the oft-repeated lie that he was fired after asking for more resources, not only did the DOJ state there was ZERO VERACITY to that claim, Comey's #2 guy testified under oath that that wouldn't have happened because that wouldn't have been the process, and that the FBI had all of the resources it needs.

      If you all would sit back and breathe, you may have a point in time when Trump does something truly wrong, but this continue boogeyman search is going to wear you out, and the continually wailing from the Left is going to fade into background noise to vast swaths of the American electorate.

      One other thing, it is one thing to argue position or opinion, but it is highly distasteful to state claims as facts that are not verifiably factual, especially when there is no attempt to correct the record when the facts play out differently than you had claimed.
