      @Frederick:

      Same way you make other insurance affordable.. such as home, life, and auto.

      So then you do agree!  Everyone should have to buy insurance!  The reason that the system works with home and auto insurance is that every home and auto (in most states) must be insured

      Life insurance is a little different but the payouts are set to a fixed amount so it's fairly predictable as to how much will be paid out.

      You keep talking about these  astronomical prices but they don't really matter because nobody pays those prices.  The insurers and providers negotiate rates that are MUCH lower.

      But how do you make it affordable if you expect people to only buy it when they need it?  We already had that in this country.  We had high risk pools in all 50 states.  They were extremely unpopular and extremely expensive.

      Once again you are making the case for socialized medicine.  If you want to know if it will work just look at Medicare.  Your father has the choice between traditional Medicare that is run by the government  (pat A and B) or he can choose a private Medicare Advantage (part C) plan.  Over 85% of seniors have chosen the government option.  They don't want the bureaucracy of insurance companies.  They choose the government option because it is simple.  I'm going to guess your father is in the 85%.

      We should have a system like this for all Americans where they can choose between a government option and a private one.  I actually think there is a lot of value in Medicare Advantage plans for some people.  It's nice to have choice.

      A recent poll by Trump University shows that Trump has never failed at any thing.

    • John Kelly turns on Trump!

      John Kelly ordered White House staff to put duty to their country before their duty to Trump.

      My guess is that he won't be around much longer after this.  Trump can't have people like that working in the White House!

      If only sick people buy health insurance the system can't survive.  It isn't setup that way.  Single payer healthcare would be much more efficient but Republicans wouldn't dare do anything that doesn't generate a profit off sick people.  They are Christian after all…..

      Why are we forced to pay for police and fire protection?  I've never need a cop and my house has never caught on fire.  It seems that someone owes me a big fat refund!

    • Republican Town Halls

      Why are Republicans so afraid to have hold town hall meetings?  If the Republican agenda is so popular shouldn't they be excited to hold these meetings?  Paul Ryan hasn't held a town hall meeting in over two years.  It's like they are ashamed of the work they do.

    • RE: What do people really need?

      @raphjd:

      Too often, the argument here is:  The young, beautiful and virtuous shouldn't have to pay for insurance coverage, since their premiums go to provide care for nasty, old, dissolute people whose need for health care is their "fault," because of bad choices that made them overweight, smokers, etc.

      A company I used to work for in the US had a program like this, as a "benefit".

      It was an annual "complete check up".

      Young people would pay astronomical amounts, while older people would pay very little.  This is despite young people getting very few tests and older people getting lots of tests.    It's a complete rip off for young people just starting out on much lower salaries.

      A doctor friend, who I showed the paperwork to, told me not to do it until I was 55yo because it was a rip off til then.

      I'm confused.  Was this an insurance plan?

      There was a time in America when it was socially acceptable to treat black people that way.

      The KKK Democrats are the same people who call themselves Republicans today.  They changed parties during the war.  Stop spewing lies.

      TV ratings don't mean anything.  People don't watch TV anymore.  It's all streaming now.  The late night hosts get millions of viewers daily.

      Drawing a crowd is extremely easy.

      I'll give you an example of someone who can draw a crowd.  I was walking through Chinatown one day on my lunch break.  I saw a man on sidewalk with a box.  People start to line up at this man and a crowd started to gather.

      He reached in the box, pulled out a live pigeon, snapped its neck and put it in a bag and sold it to the first person in line.  He then proceeded to do this with a couple dozen pigeons.  It certainly drew a crowd.  Some people supported it.  I imagine some didn't.

      I saw Trump speak about 12 years ago.  I wasn't impressed.  He was actually at an event with several other speakers (Tony Robbins, George Foreman,  etc).  Trump was by far the worst one.

    • RE: About these polls…

      The polls were accurate all along.  Trump is VERY unpopular.  Only a total of 35K votes needed to shift in three states and he would have lost the electoral vote.  When you take into consideration that he was CLOBBERED in the popular vote he is the most unpopular President in history.

      Plus according to him, the election had an additional 3-5 million illegal votes.  The people who voted for Trump are criminals!  Take a look at this woman and her family and friends in the link.  They were harboring an illegal immigrant!  CRIMINALSS

    • Everybody knows that Trump is the leaker!

      It's pretty obvious that Trump is the leaker.  He has been doing it for years.  He used to call reporters claiming to be a Trump employee named John Baron and leak info.  He is a VERY sick man!

      But that's where you are wrong.  They aren't working under the table.  They work with "legally" with stolen identities.  On paper, 11 million legal workers will disappear.

      Perhaps all of the H2B Visa workers that Trump is importing to work at his clubs will offset that.

      Btw, remember when he used to say "America First".  I guess he didn't mean it…..

      The economy doesn't have to grow.    If Trump deports 11 million illegal immigrants it will shrink.
