I'm an egalitarian.  I don't generally get physical with anyone, but if push comes to shove (literally), I have no qualms about hitting a woman specifically.  If a woman slaps me, I'm 100% guaranteed to slap back.  Being born with a slightly smaller frame is not an excuse for behavior that is by all rights inexcusable.

If I would hit a man for something, I'd hit a woman for it too.  To my mind, anything else would be hypocritical of me.  For those who would judge me harshly, I'd urge you to remember that giving someone special treatment is exactly the same as saying 'you need to be treated differently because you are inferior'.

I'm an Egalitarian.  To be perfectly frank, I hate feminism as I find it to be entirely hypocritical.  As such, if someone proclaims themselves a feminist, I automatically consider them to also be a hypocrite until they prove otherwise.  Feminists, in my experience, are all too quick to yell about wage inequality, but are silent in regards to other aspects of inequality that work out favorably for them.  For example, the number of women working inherently dangerous occupations in this country (mining, construction, etc.) is essentially zero.  If a woman claims a man abused her, he's automatically guilty.  If a man claims a woman abused him, he needs to 'man up'.

Rather than being 'sad' or a 'shame', isn't this inevitable?  The causes they list (gendered specialization and presence of children) suggest that partnered gay men are earning less than their straight counterparts because they don't need to.  Straight women typically focus on raising children and often only have part time jobs.  The children themselves are an added expense.  Thus, even though each male makes slightly less than straight males, the couple as a whole is practically guaranteed to have more money, and the ability to afford to take more leisure time.

I'd say no.  Personally, I'm not even vaguely attracted to Asians.  I'm definitely most attracted to white guys.  It has nothing to do with their skin color, just various physical traits I do or don't find attractive.  There are also plenty of white people I don't find attractive, for one reason or another, or a few rare people of other ethnicities that I do find very attractive, but it just boils down to white people being far more likely to have the features that I like.

Been there, and done that.  My Parents "love" me, but will go out of their way to change the topic of discussion, if they think it might go anywhere near that.

In my experience, it is simply that they don't understand, and are not wiling to take the time to examine their own issues with it.  My parents have made comments to the effect that they don't really want to talk about it, because my brother is in a crazy church, and they aren't sure how he and his wife would deal with it.  Okay, I get my brother is in a church that is a little odd.  I accept that my sister in law would have issues with it.

One of my last vacations, I was trying to talk to my parent about the fact that my job was being "downsized", and I was likely going to have to move to find a new job.  Every time I tried to open the subject, my mother would start to talk about the people she used to work with, and derail any attempt on my part.  Finally, after being put off about a dozen times, I just stopped trying.  Now, three or four years later, they are wondering why I don't talk them much.  I do still visit them, for the holidays, or occasional weekends, but I don't really enjoy it, and spend most of the time just letting them do the talking.  When I do answer questions, I only say as much as I need to, and don't really give any details.  "oh your house is so nice"  "It's a place to live."  They don't seem to have noticed, and I can't say that I care.

I realize that there is a piece of my life that is "missing", but it isn't the part I am looking to fix right now.

Perhaps I'm unique this way, but I wouldn't hesitate to burn that bridge.  When it comes down to it, they clearly don't support or respect you, regardless of what they may claim.  They say blood is thicker than water, but I've found that when it comes down to it, it is thin indeed.  I'd rather choose my family based on who I actually trust and want in my life than people who think I should feel obligated to spend time with them.
