What are best practices for making a torrent freeleach?
-
I went on a kind of a torrent binge over the holidays and my ratio dropped. I've been uploading new content but I thought a faster way to help bring it up would be to make a torrent free leech.
My understanding is that the free leech torrents are popular, so I have a chance to seed it from my account but I know a lot of people keep their torrents in places where they're constantly uploading at fast speeds (are they called sandboxes?), so I couldn't really compete.
Anyway, is there a best practices to figuring out which torrent to make free leech so I can get more seed points or would just buying seed credit be the best bet?

@Richiroma the thing is, fixing your ratio can be really hard depending on how much you have downloaded.
If you have downloaded 100GB and uploaded 10GB (therefore 0.1 ratio), uploading 100 GB would be enough to increase your ratio to 1.1. And it would be very easy to extrapolate this, and upload 200 GB, going to 2.1.
But if you have downloaded a lot more, let's say 2TB... Uploading 200 GB will be just 0.1. A pretty negligible number, despite the effort needed to upload 200 GB.
The first thing you need to do is check your numbers, have a good idea of how much you need to upload to achieve a ratio that is satisfactory to you.
If it turns out to be a big value, there is no easy way, and uploading your own torrents will be the fastest and most reliable approach.
As you have pointed yourself, freeleech torrents have a high demand, this means you are competing for the opportunity to seed. If you spend your own points to make torrents freeleech, you are contributing to increasing the ratio of all other seeders, and you might never get to seed it yourself, or seed only a small fraction.

Back when I had potato internet which made it a nightmare to maintain a good ratio I did try using a seedbox, and only for a single month at a time. It's been ages since I had to do it, but all I did was add anything new that looked like it would become popular. (Think popular performers in the busiest categories. That sort of thing.) I'd jump onto anything that:
-
Was uploaded very recently, preferably in the last few hours, and
-
Had only 1 or perhaps 2 seeders with lots of leechers, and
-
the bigger the download the better, (Simply means there's more upload traffic to be had)
You ignore the whole concept of downloading what you want for yourself, and concentrate on what others are hungry for, and the high speeds you get make you a very attractive peer to connect to.. As I say it's been a while but I seem to remember being able to farm in excess of TB of upload credit in a single month that way with very little effort and I'm sure I could get even higher rewards if I really tried, all for the paltry sum of about £10 to £15 for the seedbox.
As @ianfontinell-0 says, you need to look at how big your deficit is first. Then you know what it will take to fix it. If you give us some numbers I'm sure it'll be an easy task.

@frostycab @ianfontinell-0
My UL is 14.98 TB
DL is 16.04 TB
So my ratio is 0.934.I like to keep my ration around 1.1.
Considering you both, I'm thinking to cash in my bonus points for the upload credit and just continue uploading new torrents.
-
@Richiroma you need to upload roughly 3 TB to go from 0.93 to 1.1
I don't know how many bonus points you have but I suspect it won't even tickleheck, since i joined in 2017 i have only uploaded 4 TB lol

I'm sat on nearly 7500 points, and that's only worth about 720GB, so unless you've been collecting for a looong time I doubt you're going to get far like that. What up/down speeds do you get from your ISP?
You're not at the panic stage, regardless. You've got nearly 4TB of download buffer before you hit your 0.8 minimum ratio. If you're dead-set on improving things then I'd defo say to get a seedbox for a month to try it, as you should be be able to get back k to 1.1 with some careful curating of what you download. Even if you don't go down that route you should find that targeting downloads with the characteristics I outlined above should help, as long as your speeds are what I'd term as competitive and not Stone Age.

Yeah, I'm been at this for over a decade here. lol
I had about 25,000 points. I just cashed them in and raised my ratio to 0.5. At least I'm going back in the right direction.
-
@Richiroma ... Don't waste your time Freeleeching your own torrent cuz it's pointless,
Instead use your points here : https://www.gaytor.rent/getbonus.php
Uploading your own torrent and dl & seed FL [sort by
size] https://www.gaytor.rent/browse.php?search=&incldead=1&infl=1&orderby=size&sort=desc
Stay away from new torrent that will ruin what you invested ... -
@frostycab I had 25,000 points. I just cashed them in and raised my ratio to 0.95.
Uploads usually max out around 10mps. I'm thinking about upgrading my plan with my provider, if so it would go up to 100mps.
I'll look into a seedbox. I need some place to put all the torrents I've uploaded, anyway. Thanks for the suggestion.
