The site is turning into a "collection" spam-fest
-
Part rant, part seeking advice form the mods on this one.
The sheer number of "collections" that aren't really collections is just getting out of hand IMO. Just now I looked at the torrent list and the most recent upload is this pile of unknown random crap (which may be good but I'm not even going to bother checking to find out!):
https://www.gaytor.rent/details.php?id=1fb45ea17345bc6b31aab4170a5875fb105ec8d0a0cfce8b&hit=1
Now please don't get me wrong here. Not really being an uploader myself I do appreciate it when people upload to the site, but there are so many dumps of completely random files with no meaningful titles or descriptions that I've become really hesitant about grabbing a lot of them. In the above torrent for example, it is described as nothing more than "Personal selection gay video's" which tells us nothing, and even the 5 pics don't help much.
The site rules state "A COLLECTION is a group of files that have a well-defined common theme." This rule seems to be routinely disregarded. You don't have to look for long to find things like "Selection of bareback videos" or "Stuff from my hard drive." Where is the theme to these? "Bareback" is not a theme, it's a category. "Chaturbate vids from July 23" is not a theme. "UK/US Twinks" is not a theme. Some of these uploads can be enormous and have hundreds of files in them.
To my mind, a theme is something specific and defining. A collection should be things such as a bunch of vids from a studio, or featuring a specific performer or sex on a boat or SOMETHING that can tie them together.
I'm interested in what other members opinions are, and what standpoint the mods would take if I (and everyone else) started reporting them all (because there are a hell of a lot of them!) Are you all happy to put up with them, or should we all be hitting the report button multiple times every day? I have no interest in restricting the amount of stuff added to the site, but I can't help but feel it's about time that we all stop accepting the poor-quality, non-curated mountains of spam that we have to sift through to find the gems. This site, like any other, is only ever going to be as good as what's put on it, and I can't help feeling that we've all just accepted the crap for too long, allowing it to become prolific.

We don't have enough staff to check every torrent, so we rely on them being reported. Of course, staff will deal with something when they come across it by chance.
On the flip side, we also have the problem of people making 15 separate torrents in a row that should be 1 torrent. Some of these torrents don't even equal 1gb when made into a collection. If it's a specific person's month of uploading, it should just be a single torrent. It drives me insane.

@raphjd Thanks for the input. I think what I'm really asking here is whether or not the specific type of thing I described is worth reporting en-masse. Like I said, I don't want to deprive users of content, but it does seem to have become a free-for-all where people can upload any number of random videos in a blatant attempt to get upload credit. Similarly, I don't want to become the guy who fills the report inbox to the point where the mods all think "Oh no, another petty report from that tit!" It's just that whenever I've taken a punt on downloads like these there is absolutely nothing to tie any of them together.

@raphjd don't have enough staff to verify DMCA complaint's either.. but they get taken down without verification. Seems to me that they are taken down instantly without verification. I wish the takedowns would be delayed several hours instead of being automatically taken down instantly.
-
@frostycab another problem is collections - usually of onlyfans - which might contain a couple of good scenes, but the scenes have random names, and the vast majority of the scenes are very short and/or solo content.
-
DMCA is a completely different topic and it has it's own legal rules.

I get what you are saying and I feel your pain.
Everyone needs to do their part, not just leave it to a few to make this site better.
Personally, I would rather have more collections, not less. However, in my utopia the collections would be highly specialized, like the example I gave in my previous post.
-
@raphjd I agree. I love collections that are curated properly and are actually proper collections. I'm just referring to the random dumps of unconnected rubbish. You're also right that it would be far better for people to collate some of their uploads rather than post them one by one, though I can see why some might opt not too if they don't have the bandwidth to seed large torrents at a reasonable rate, or if they can only seed for short periods.
Just out of interest, how do staff deal with reports of this nature? Does somebody actually download the torrent in question and make a judgement, or is their decision based purely on what is visible in the listing?

It depends on how obvious it is if violates the collections rule.
Most of the time a staff member will manually look at it, unless it comes from a trusted reporter.
Don't worry about our ratios, the site owner will pay us back if we need it.
