          Hi Tom

Paypal more than sucks. They are extremely unreliable, may freeze your accounts whenever the feel like doing it, cancel transactions after the goods have been shipped etcetcetc. There also were several articles about them in the German magazine c't.
Most users in the EC can easily transfer money directly to your bank account from any country within the EC, so why not offer bank ransfers? I have long considered donating, but paypal et. al. are a definitive no-no.
This won't help those members living outside of the EC, but all EC residents would profit - and donations might even go up.

You need to get out more, the EC hasn't existed for years and years.

The European Community or European Union ist quite alive and kicking. "EU" might be the better abbreviation. But I still come across both, and if I'm not too mistaken communauté européenne is still the prefered way to call it in France, but there is also the expression union européenne.

Of course, EC was also the abbreviation for the former euro check,

only European Community will make sense.

Well, I should rather avoid abbreviations. Sorry

Now with a new and powerful président France will soon have all the world tremble with fear and awe.

Foof is from Sweden, so he is European, I also live in Europe and I do love France. So neither of us was trying to bash any country, not even France. Just a few jokes among two guys living in Europe. We no longer start wars on that. 😛

The official term is European Union or EU and has been since 1993, under the ?Maastricht? Treaty.

I was just pointing out that it's not a good practice to make these kind of comments. While they may be intended as jokes, some people may/will find them offensive.

You have a point here, but with a smiley following Foof's tongue-in-cheek expression, its intention should be absolutely clear, but better be safe than sorry

                                  Kriss,
That is a bogus email which did NOT originate from Paypal.
You need to log on to Paypal in their prescribed secure method and see the topics about identifying legitimate email from them.

If you follow the intructions on bogus emails then you are inviting trouble for yourself.
