"President Trump has decided to end the CIA’s covert program to arm and train moderate Syrian rebels battling the government of Bashar al-Assad, a move long sought by Russia, according to U.S. officials."

Some analysts said the decision was likely to empower more radical groups inside Syria and damage the credibility of the United States.

"We are falling into a Russian trap,' said Charles Lister, a senior fellow at the Middle East Institute, who focuses on the Syrian resistance. “We are making the moderate resistance more and more vulnerable. . . . We are really cutting them off at the neck."

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, known for his hawkish views toward Russia, tweeted that "if true – and I hope it’s not – it would be a complete capitulation to Assad, Russia, and Iran."

Tell your nieces and nephews to take Russian language classes – it appears they are really going to need them.

I'd love to see a less aggressive US foreign policy towards the Middle East and peace there as well. Not sure if this is the right way, but let's just wait and see.
