RULES for this section
-
We all know that politics can get heated, so there is some leeway in the general rule regarding "polite disagreement".
Popping into a thread for the sole purpose to flame, is a NO NO.
Popping into a thread for the sole purpose to complain that the thread exists, is a NO NO.
Popping into a thread to complain that the POLITICS section exists, is a NO NO.
Making false reports about staff or another user, is a NO NO. If you claim that someone called you a "faggot nigger", you had better have proof. Remember, I can see the original posts and edited posts.
If you routinely post nothing but childish comments that do nothing to further the discussion, that is a NO NO.
If you can't or won't further the discussion, then ignore this section.
If you want to call your "enemy" a cunt or the like, take it elsewhere.
Don't be petty. A disagreement here should not mean that you refuse to fulfill a re-seed request. Nor should it mean you get into a flame fest in the cooking section.
NEITHER SIDE IS EXEMPT FROM THE RULES.
Don't expect me to see every offending post, use the report button.

I want to clarify something.
When I post, I am posting as myself.
HOWEVER, if my post looks like :police: <insert text="" ""> :police: </insert> then I am posting as the forum admin.
Of course, all posts in the rules section are forum admin posts
EDIT: This isn't the case anymore since we no longer have this ability in the current forum software.

Please stop using "tard".
I'm sure you can find another descriptive name for the other side.

Thank you! I really agree with this. Stick to liberals and conservatives. Let's keep some level of maturity even though things can get heated. You don't earn any extra points for insulting your opponent in such a childish way. I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of sanction if this is ignored repeatedly. It adds nothing to the discourse.

Should a rule be added regarding spamming threads/posts? I'm seen one user post multiple times in a row on the same thread when he could have modified the original post.
If possible, perhaps the forum system can be changed so that posts are merged if they are both by the same user and posted one after another.

That would be nice.
Maybe I'll have to start editing threads for this.

Attacks on children should also be banned on this forum. For the sake of civility, can we please leave innocent children out of this? One thread was closed because it was an attack on our current president's family, yet there is a thread on here now attacking the Obama children yet it's still up. I'm reporting it and hopefully this isn't tolerated since it wasn't tolerated when someone attacked #45's children and grandchildren on here.
-
Children are allowed to be attacked, but only if they themselves have done wrong. "Sins of the father" type stuff is banned.

"Attack" in this case means criticize/critical of. This is things like GWB's daughters underage drinking with secret service protection.
You are not allowed to do baseless attacks on kids because of their parents.

"we just removed the (for some people offending) recent forum topics from our homepage."
we reserve the right to discourage people from discussions because we can make the word "polite" can be used to mean anything we want it to.
We will say that both sides are subject to the rules but fail when we inevitably show our bias in trying to police the large amount of content here.

Please show me where I've been acting in a biased manner as admin.

I started my own thread on this. https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=51089.0
I think it is too much for the moderator to be editing multiple posts by the same user before others can reply, but there should be some guidelines put into place and enforced. Like giving them a time-out if they repeatedly violate the guidelines after several warnings. Even one reply might be permissible for clarification but 3, 3 and 5 in a row is just ridiculous. -

I back up the call for more guidelines put into place and enforced on this issue.

I know what you are getting at and I somewhat agree.. but you seem to only complain when certain people do it. The two worst offenders in recent history are DrAss and Sutieday. One of the things hat has driven me nuts for decades is when people make empty messages with no relevant content that amount to pure spam. I remember when I used to do real time chats with people.. and I would have 3 computers running at once, trying to get things done, and someone would keep leaving tiny turd comments such as "OH?" or "LOL" on the chats causing an alert to go off interrupting my train of thought.

so what is your point except calling out other forum posters? do you agree or disagree?

For instance, if the rules you want were employed, you would not be tolerated in the forums.
But then on the other side of things.. even though I have the 2nd highest reputation on the site out of nearly 1,000,000 members.. and over the years have seeded roughly 70 terabytes (that's 70,000,000,000,000) bytes of data.. I can no longer upload anything because I committed the crime of uploading a 6 megabyte (that's 6,000,000) bytes of data file that was a book - that was requested into the books and magazines section, that had no gay or lesbian themes in it. I still haven't found that rule yet, but I sure know about it now.Yesterday, I was just thinking about this kind of syndrome as it relates to government and life in general. It is far easier to destroy than to create. For example.. someone can spend many hours setting up dominos, and knock them all down in seconds. Skyscrapers that take years to put up can be reduced to a pile of rubble in minutes. A painting that might have taken months to complete can be defaced and ruined in an instant.

Proposal for a new rule:
When users post pictures of news headlines, usually in an attempt to discredit others, they should have to also post the link to the source and main article so readers can assess the full story, not just what you want them to infer from the title.
-
@frostycab You can search any real headline - if found, you link it - or if not found, challenge the person.
Maybe you're describing a "best practice" but just IMO making it a "rule" would be heavy-handed.
