Leechers & edonkey objection
-
Administrators: please don't tell leechers and other abusers of this site to use the edonkey network! The edonkey network is not "for people who don't understand bittorrent." It's for much rarer files (among others), and edonkey clients reward people for continuing to share files they've downloaded via a credit system. Plus, there are many security issues that have to be understood. So if you can't figure out bittorrent and don't like or understand the concept of sharing files, don't jump into the edonkey network.
-
Normally, we don't tell people to go to another system. The only times I have ever seen it done is when people refuse to understand that this is a file sharing community, not a leechfest.
As far as I know, no system {other than direct download} rewards users for leeching. This screws up the whole idea of file sharing.
I have used other forms of file sharing, similar to edonkey {though not edonkey itself} and they are pretty bad. They can take weeks to get a file and most of the time they are bogus files and/or infected with viruses. Not to mention that the bad guys are constantly snooping to see if anyone is sharing anything illegal {copyrighted stuff, etc}.
In file sharing, you have 3 main types of users;
1. good members
2. uneducated in file sharing, just need to learn how it works and they will be good members
3. greedy, selfish scum, who will never change

FYI, edonkey is dead. If you try to get to the site you get a warning about courts going after people who download copyrighted material and it logs your IP address.

The term edonkey2000 causes confusion. There has never been anything wrong with the edonkey2000 NETWORK - it has millions of users.
From the file-sharing news site slyck.com:
hxxp://www.slyck.com/edonkey2k.php?page=1There used to be a software CLIENT called edonkey2000, created by the now-defunct company MetaMachines, to search the edonkey2000 NETWORK of servers. When Metamachines went under, the edonkey CLIENT became useless.
The NETWORK of servers called edonkey2000 still works fine (though there are many fake servers to avoid). It's accessed by clients like emule and amule, is searchable, and, as I said, rewards long-term sharing of files, so it's great for finding rare files that you'd never find on bittorrent (or that would disappear in weeks). If you want to find Hitchcock's "Marnie" dubbed in Italian, the short films of Joris Ivens, or your favorite Audrey Hepburn movie, then edonkey is the way to go.
I will also say I've never downloaded a fake file from edonkey2000, but then I don't download the recent stuff that is more likely to be spoofed by the MPAA. It's true it's much slower than bittorrent, but speeds increase as your credit (i.e. ratio) improves. So….don't recommend edonkey to leechers.

Try EMule
EDonkey (and a number of sites with large servers for it) were closed down, but EMule is still going strong and is much better than EDonkey ever was
As said above: As a network, EDonkey is still alive…ED2k is dead (the program)...check out hxxp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EDonkey_network for specific info on it all if you need to

Other than torrents(here and elsewhere) I was wondering if there are any other places our members get porn?
I use hotfile and megaupload alot for medium size file like the ASG and BaitBus stuff but I refuse to use limewire or bearshare or anything like them.
I do alot of I.T. work and I would say about 74% of my work comes from p2p networks delivering malware to a customers pc.

There are quite a number of forums and blogs with links to the storage on Direct DownLoad providers (RapiddShare, HotFile, MegaUpload, etc..). It does not need much search to find a few of them.
You get almost the same than here, GTN and Gay-torrents.net but you need time, a downloader or pay a premium account.
-
I spent $9 on a hotfile account this month to try it out and by unlimited downloading they mean unlimited. I think I get like 100GB of free premium traffic to share a month so if anyone is interested I can let you try it out by uploading some stuff there for "premium download". I have snatched about a terabyte easily already this month and I still has 2 weeks left before I have to renew.

classical ways of P2P such as Gnutella, Kazaa, eDonkey… are also reliable if you know how to use them. there are couple of sites similar to trackers which collect correct file ID hashes - when you click to download such a link, you can be sure it's the file you are looking for. one of such systems is 'sig2dat'; i used to have an account there in the past…

Is that a free account type service or do you have to pay.

it used to be free and, as far as i know, it still should be. i don't use this service anymore due to low sources. as these systems are almost decentralized, there's just a little chance to get some older stuff you want. but for those who need to build up their ratio, it's a good way to get files this way and then bring them here for reseeding, especially for fresh stuff.
an interesting way of implementation has Shareaza {the clean core only! - there are two Shareaza-s released, one of them is stolen, such a nasty act it was}. it offers sharing torrents separately from other P2P channels {needs to get configured first, Shareaza cares about private passkeys, hence torrent files are disabled in default. also DHT-enabled torrent clients have this option, but due to direct access to private torrents, these are excluded from searching {BitComet doesn't seem to care about them properly}. along with the torrent-share, Shareaza offers even more powerful way to get your stuff. however, i can't suggest it for torrent handling in general, as i didn't test it yet, how it reports transfered ratio to trackers; there's always been the problem with cross-networks clients. when i have some leisure, i will try to test this with a clean account…}

I still use emule which was my first venture in serious p2p.
On emule you still find some really rare stuff and what I like of it is it's simplicity in sharing stuff and the centralised search which are the biggest drawback, for me, of torrents.
I mean with torrents you can't move files, rename them or anything that you have to delete the torrent, recheck it, relocate it and so on.
I had to change an hdd recently and man trying to reseed all my torrents is really just cause I am really into the all sharing spirit but is such a pain in the neck.
Also on emule you have an integrated search engine instead of countless trackers you need to sign on, be invited and so on.Torrents on the other side are more organised so for example of a movie you get all the stats, the thumbs, the covers and so on which is more difficult to do on emule but they have implemented collections and sites similar to trackers for that.
I wish there would be just one single system.

…I wish there would be just one single system.
I don't know if I would want that.
Then it would be like shooting fishing a barrel for these movie & record companies. Porn is not as scrutinized as mainstream music and movies. Gay porn is watched by "the man" even less.
A uniform distribution system for digital content would be the end of sharing communities as we know them.

I thought that could be an objection but they haven't been very successful against any of those systems so far and I doubt they would even if there was a single system.
It's the users who share the files not the application and that has been the general consensus in almost any legal battle anywhere.
Emule servers are taken down constantly and new ones pop up but all they do is index stuff.I would at least like to have a centralised search for all is shared than users go to the appropriate p2p system.
Torrents for sure should make it easier to share stuff cause I have much stuff that I can share with a click on emule but don't even start doing it on torrents cause it's too much hassle and too much time I don't have.
And that's too bad. -
as told before, Shareaza has all these options in it…

I have tried Shareaza but I always found out it wasn't good at any of those options.
For example the same search done in emule and shareaza gave on the latter a fraction of the results. There is MLDonkey that has support for everything, DC++ too, but it's so bloody difficult to set up that I gave it up.

I have an account also there are 5 sites i frquent every day, 3 porn and 2 general.
The porn ones are great for AVI files but i have yet to find any forums that post full DVD rips if anyone knows of any PM me.. I just donate $5 every now and then to get rid of the adds. I still find this place the best for Gay DVD's Speed is excelent and theres no spam and popups.
