      The UK arrested 85 anti-monarchy protesters during the coronation.

      Some were released without charge, but 56 are still being held without charge.

      "Not My King" signs and chants are enough to be arrested.

      ALSO, it appears that despite not being allowed, the government told the police to arrest the protesters. The police are supposed to work independently, based on facts and law. So far, the government has said they will not have an inquiry into whether or not the government ordered the police to arrest the protesters.

        @raphjd That coronation could not have been more boring if they tried. The news media focused on things such as:
        Harry not bowing; Harry leaving right after the coronation; George making faces like he is on meth; horse trampling people; lack of approval when prompted by the Archbishop; some celebrity passing out; protesters being arrested.
        I am surprised that nobody mentioned that the Royal costumes looked drab due to Charlie replacing real fur for synthetic.

        Sorry to say, the days of Royalty are over (unless someone would like to make me their king!). Same goes for the Pope and Archbishop and presidents / prime ministers, etc.

              @lololulu19

              It's not so much about the specifics of the protest but that a simple sign and chant can get you arrested, on the orders of the government.

              Also, 56 protesters are still being held without charge.

              Shockingly, the police aren't arresting all the other protesters, such as the anti-oil twats that are blocking roads, thus preventing ambulances and fire trucks from getting through. Nope, the police are arresting people that are trying to remove the protesters.

              If the reports are correct, the police aren't cooperating with the victims of the anti-oil protesters who are gluing themselves to other people's cars, so their insurance companies can take them to court for the damages they are doing to the cars. This means the victims' insurance premiums go up, just like when you are hit by an uninsured motorist or victim of hit and run.

                  On Sunday, UK Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer justified the arrests by saying that the coronation was being watched around the world.

                  Yesterday, 6 people who were arrested on their way to the protest, had their bail conditions (assigned by the police, not a judge) dropped and told that no further actions would be taken.

                  The protesters were arrested for, but not charged with, "suspicion of causing a public nuisance under the breaching the peace section of the criminal code".

                  There are about 20 people still under arrest, but without any charges, while another 46 are on police bail but without any charges.

                    @raphjd What a coincidence! On Tuesday, @blablarg18 justified the arrests by saying that Charles is a mess nobody (save maybe libs) could respect for real.

                      @raphjd I would like to say that this kind of thing would never fly in Canada because the Charter of Rights gives you a constitutional right to a peaceful protest, however we all know what happens when you criticize your leader in this country.... The leader invokes the Emergency Act to give himself dictator like powers to do very much the same thing, only worse. He went so far as to freeze all of their assets and hold them up on unconstitutional charges without bail because they have no access to their assets in which to post their bail with.
