Gay Lesbian Bi vs. Trans

Seems to me that the fundamental desire of people who are gay, lesbian, or bi is to be able to have relationships with members of the same sex without being discriminated against. In other words, being accepted for their own desires and beliefs, etc. Being accepted for what they are.

Now, there is a huge difference between being a transsexual and being a transvestite. A transsexual can be born that way biologically (which occurs in less than 1 in 1000 people) or people can have surgery done to alter their genetalia (which very rarely occurs). What DOES happen is a large percentage of men decide to wear women's clothing, women's wigs, put on cosmentics and jewelry, and sometimes have fake breasts - to APPEAR to be something they are not - a woman.

Seems to me that this is quite the contradiction. Gay, bi, lesbian people want to be accepted for what they ARE, while transvestites want to be accepted for what t hey are NOT!

What I resent is having transvestites lumped in with homosexuals. That is insulting. What's next? lumping pedophiles, necrophiliacs, and people who practice bestiality in with homosexuals?

I am interested in how others feel about this issue.

Second one, I'm going to disagree a bit. For starters, you seem to have misunderstood/mislabelled the groups you are talking about.

Do not confuse having an intersex trait with being transgender. Intersex people are assigned a sex at birth — either male or female — and that decision by medical providers and parents may not match the gender identity of the child. TRANSGENDER - An umbrella term for people whose gender identity and/or gender expression differs from what is typically associated with the sex they were assigned at birth. People under the transgender umbrella may describe themselves using one or more of a wide variety of terms— including transgender or nonbinary. Some transgender people are prescribed hormones by their doctors to bring their bodies into alignment with their gender identity. Some undergo surgery as well. But not all transgender people can or will take those steps, and a transgender identity is not dependent upon physical appearance or medical procedures."

I think transgender transvestites are simply dressing in a way that makes them feel comfortable in themselves. Some may wish to actually transition, but have reasons holding them back. I'm sure there are many who see transvestism as a kind of fetish too, but you don't seem to suggest you have any issues with people who like wearing leather, rubber or other such things.

Third paragraph, I'd refer you back to my take on paragraph 2, though I'd like to expand on one thing. The tone of your post seems to suggest that you are talking specifically about men trying to appear to be women. What is your take on women who dress like men? I mean, trousers have historically been a male garment, but women wear jeans all the time. What about women who wear boots rather than heels? Women with boyish haircuts? Women who wear chest-binders? I think you can see where I'm going with this.

Sorry, but any way you look at it that's bigotry. "Resent?" "Lumped in?" So a gay man who cross-dresses is a lesser part of our community than another gay man who doesn't? The fight for acceptance has been going on for decades. Gay Pride became simply Pride, and has encompassed gays, lesbians, transgender, bisexuals.... but you want to tell transvestites that you resent them being a part of our community and you're insulted by a perceived affiliation with them? Acceptance needs to go both ways, or would you prefer that we wind back the clock just a little bit so it's just us gays and the rest can go and fend for themselves?

As for the reference to paedophiles and the rest, I think you'll find that they are all criminal pretty much everywhere. Transvestites, at least in most forward-thinking countries, are not.

You asked for opinions on this and that's mine. You are of course free to have your own, but I'm going to say that while I personally find many of your posts floating somewhere between amusing and cringe-worthy this one has left me utterly fucking livid, and I'm holding back on what I'd happily say to someone's face if they were stood in front of me with that attitude. I think you need to go and reflect on who's lumping people into groups.

Agreed to the points made by frostycab. This is primarily an "issue" in your own mind, and as well, one of your uglier attempts to seek attention with the pedo and necro references. No need to feed this disorder with many more words.

But I will note that your headline is a mess, using Trans for your transvestite rant, when most people would correctly associate the series GLBT / LGBT with transsexuals.
