Not here for a fight, but just want to point out that "this will happen eventually if we don't change by 2023" means something very different to "this will happen in 2023" Reading the post properly shows that she said we had 5 years to change course, not that we will all die in fire and brimstone in 5 years. The article even says "an article predicting humans would go extinct by 2023" which any rational person would realise is different to what she was saying. Lazy journalism trying to sensationalise something by misinterpreting it.

FWIW, I don't think anybody has any real clue as to when the planet will (or did) reach the tipping point.

@frostycab First: We do have a clue. There is no tipping point. Climate Change is a ridiculous panic just like Covid was.

Both have a kernel of truth. Covid was/is a real virus that can be lethal if you're fat, diabetic, old, or lacking vit-D. And climate does change.

But locking down the world over it? Ending normal life? Going to dictatorial measures, like the world is somehow ending? Garbage. UTTER. GARBAGE.

Next - All you've done here is play Karen saying "Greta didn't predict the world literally ends now in 2023, only that now in 2023 it's too late to change - the doom is baked into the cake, as of now in 2023".

Sure. Conceded. Valid point. You win that one.

Except it misses the bigger more important points, namely

            • Greta is a grifter & hypocrite
            • who deleted a prediction she'd endorsed, rather than admit it was wrong
            • China uses fossil fuels more than ever, now in 2023, and we still aren't at any tipping point
            • because, again, the GINNED-UP PANIC over natural & inevitable climate change is garbage, and always was

            Perspective.

"Lazy journalism trying to sensationalise something by misinterpreting it." - Like everything our libs & our "valid media sources" & our "leaders" do, on every issue, every time?

A rational person would realize that she was talking out of her backside.

ALL climate alarmists are talking out of their backsides. My entire 55 years on this planet, climate alarmists have screeched some doomsday climate scenario or another.

Since the earth got its atmosphere 4 billion years ago (according to the Smithsonian Inst), there has been climate change. Climate changes existed before humans and will exist long after humans.

Not what I said at all if you bother to read it, but like most conservatives you've find a way to turn things around in such a way that you can have a nice little argument about it. If I'd written "FWIW, I don't think anybody has any real clue as to if/when the planet will (or did) reach the tipping point." you'd probably still find a way to disagree.

I totally agree, it's always going to be something that happens. I think that the panic comes from people worrying not about climate change itself, but how soon it might reach a point where human life in unsustainable. I think that's a fair consideration, as climate change has led to mass extinctions in the past and will probably do so in the future. In all likelihood nobody will know the timeline or outcome until long after I've shuffled off. I don't blame them for worrying about it. Many people worry about the future for their progeny, and I get that. They're just trying to extrapolate far beyond what I think we're capable of calculating at the moment. Our opinions on any of it will be long-forgotten by the time anyone is proven right or wrong.

Exactly what you said. You pointed something out. I then correctly pointed out what you pointed out.

And I even conceded it - Karen take the W when you get it.

Update: Sorry for coming back to this but I'm still half SMH, half chuckling that I got you to snootily disavow your own W. Hahahaha.

Grifta defended by libs, in their best "I'M FACT CHECKER" t-shirts of course:

Hey @frostycab you might enjoy it? Like you, Newsweek talks around & around & around the basic facts that

                      • Grifta 2018 had tweeted a "wipe out of all humanity unless we stop using fossil fuels over the next five years"

                      • and Grifta 2023 wanted to memory-hole it

@blablarg18 Hardly a Karen type move. If anything it was the Karen's of the world complaining about the covid measures, or trying to stop climate change.
Climates change naturally, but not at the rate we've seen. Humans have caused massive changes over a short period of time, you can disagree because you don't like being told to pay 10 cents for a bag or whatever but to deny it in the face of everything is ridiculous.

Even if there is a 99% chance that the scientists are wrong, what is your problem with trying to take better care of the planet?

Ah, the same BS argument believers use.

If there's even the slightest chance god exists, you should believe.

BTW, the Twitter Files prove that most of what we were told about covid was a lie. Even science proves that we were lied to about covid, because vaccines never, ever prevent catching or spreading a virus, as that is not how they work. This is even bolstered more by the WhatsApp leaks of the UK's (then) Health Minister. Let's not forget that those in charge didn't even believe in the covid rules because they routinely broke their own rules. Covid clearly can't be as bad as they claimed if they won't wear their masks, except in public. 250 people attended Obama's birthday party, but only the loser staff had to wear masks, because wealth and fame made people immune. It's the same reason a fed court ruled about NYC's mask mandates, since the rich and famous were exempt from the mask mandates. In the UK, cops took off their masks to beat a man for riding the train without a mask, even he was medially exempt from wearing a mask.

@raphjd No it's not the same, believing in god will have no affect on those around you one way or another. Helping take care of the planet will and is quite frankly the decent thing to do, problem is most people are too selfish to do something for others (which also helps them out too) or they just make it political. Unless you have a vested interest in the fossil fuel industry what does it hurt?

Vaccines don't prevent you catching it, they just lessen the effect it has on you because your body has already started making antibodies, like all vaccines. I couldn't care less if you got the vaccine because ultimately it's your body your choice. Saying that if places wanted to stop entry or whatever because someone didn't want the vaccine... well that's thier choice.
Twitter as a source? Really? I might as well ask the crazy guy on the corner for advice.

My entire 55 years on this planet have had 1 climate scare after another.

Until about 1978, we were told that would currently be living in the worst ice age the planet has ever known.

Then we were told that we would be living in an extremely hot, tropical planet with acid rain.

Then they said that we would be living on an extremely hot, dry planet.

                                Now it's climate change.

The planet has had climate change for the 4 billion years it's had an atmosphere.

Anyone living in the southern part of the US, knows the 8 to 10-year cycle of La Nina/El Nino.

The glaciers haven't melted away, as Gore told us.

All the rich climate alarmists bought sea side property. Obama paid $20 million for his waterfront property on Martha's Vineyard.

COP26 saw well over 420 private planes attend the climate alarmist event.

As for the vaccine, why did they need to lie about how well they worked?

Twitter is a better source than your lying, conspiring liberal media.

The Twitter Files are backed up by internal documents. These documents include emails to/from the FBI, CIA, CDC, Fauci and countless others.

Clearly, covid was mostly a lie. We know this from the various emails, leaked WhatsApp messages, Slack (Messenger-type program), and countless other things. It's not just the US, but all western governments and beyond.

They knowingly lied to us about covid and the vaccine.

It took CBS 2 years to finally admit that Hunter's laptop is really, but you think they are a valid source.

Also, like YouTube, you can find non-random guy posts, such as all the media outlets. So saying Twitter isn't a source, says you don't even believe your beloved liberal media because they post there.

I found out about the racial opposite of Dylan Roof on Twitter. Emanuel Samson was a black man who shot up a white church in Tennessee. Like Roof, he survived; meaning the police didn't kill him. Without this being reported on Twitter by local media, this would have been completely buried by MSM.

Without Twitter, your liberal narrative that whites are roaming the planet looking to kill every non-white would be deemed fact. With Twitter, the truth can get out there.

Even if there is a 99% chance that the planet - which is much, much, much bigger than us - would somehow need our help, what is your problem with human freedom? or with wanting truth? Is being terrorized with lies, your preferred state?

                                  Seems like it.
