Why are porn star ID request posts being deleted ?

UPDATE TO THE ISSUE
UPDATE
I recieved a help desk response to the original post question - aka: Why are porn star ID request posts being deleted ?The answers are as follows:
Regarding the banning of upload requests:
"About our differences with other similar sites, we are like companies. One company may has a different set of rules and also different work ethic. The site owner/administrator concern about this issue at the moment and implement it on our site."Regarding why porn star / scene ID requests were being taken down - the respondant misunderstood the issue but said:
"The main and the most important reason is because we care about everyone safety, regarding DMCA process. That's why we additionally prohibit users for using code name to name a torrent."Which is ironic because members performer / scene ID request posts are being taken down in this forum because they seek to identify the person by their professional / online name - so in line with the policy and not because they seek to codify their names.
CAN THE MOD FOR THIS FORUM PLEASE STOP TAKING DOWN PERFORMER / SCENE ID REQUESTS NOW ?

Hi
A recent spate of posts related to idnetifying porn stars and individuals have been removed, including one of my own. Why ?
Or
Where else should these kind of posts be placed ?
Previously ID request posts in the porn sub-forum here worked very well for years.
Please explain the sudden change.
cheers

Unfortunately all section from the site: Request is no longer allowed ...
No requests for uploads anywhere ...
As per Site Rule: Requests for uploads are strictly prohibited. This includes the torrent descriptions, comments, forum and shoudbox.

Do / should requests to ID a particular porn perfomer constitute an 'upload request' ? Surely an upload request is different to an ID request ?
Also just out of interest why is the new rule concerning upload requests in existance ?
Upload requests are a mainstay element of forums i belong to on other torrent sights. For eg: one of your main competitor sites https://en.gay-lounge.net/ has 4 sub-forums dedicated to posting requests including for subtitles and porn identification. So why has gaytorrent.ru restrcited this suddenly ?

Clearly an ID request is different from an upload request. If you want to find that information, a good resource is PornBaseCentral, at https://pbc.xxx/wiki/Main_Page . That said, I think people should use judgment in how they use the ID information they get--as much as we might enjoy a performer's on screen activity, we need to let their private lives remain private if that's their desire.
Also just out of interest why is the new rule concerning upload requests in existence ?
Nobody has answered this, but I think it's because the site wants to protect itself: The forums and the torrent pages are public--one doesn't need a username/password to read the material, only to post or download torrents. That means anyone can see this stuff, including copyright owners. If someone requests an upload of "Tasty Twinks from Transylvania"*, a copyright owner could see that his material is being requested and thus can watch for it and potentially take action if it shows up.
.* I'm using that film name as a placeholder, not as a covert request. I don't think that title exists. If it does, it's made by the same company as "Bushy Bears from Boston," "Hairy Hunks from Huntsville," :Filthy Fratboys from Florida," and, from their straight division, "Naughty Nurses of Nashville." You get the idea...

Thanks - actually i meant often members place posts wanting to ID a performer's /star's onscreen ID nor their private ID - these types of posts are being systematically deleted but i don't think they should be.

No official explanation is forthcoming to date in the forums, rules or helpdesk. It's not clear why the reason has to be so inexplicable.I would suggest to the volunteer forum admin that maybe they can stop deleting posts simply asking for performer ID verification as these don't constitute upload requests but they do enable someone to purchase a perfomers product as well as look for them in existing torrents.

@twinkerzzz Would someone please EXPLAIN... The reason for this STRANGE BEHAVIOR.. must have something to do with the SKIN TRADE.
Youtube Video – [01:20..]By the way.. the guitarist in black with the huge pile of black hair.. has done porn.. and he has a massive cock.. no kidding. His name is Warren Cuccurullo. There is a rumor that the reason Warren was fired from Duran Duran is because arren was constantly showing off his huge cock.. even at parties with other members of Duran Duran present.. and Simon.. whose also supposedly got a huge one.. was jealous because Warren's is even bigger.
If you want to request porn star ID's I suggest you go find yourself a gay torrent site!

Ah, I see what you mean--somebody posting a picture of someone and asking "who's this" so they can find more videos for him. I can't think of a reason those should be deleted. If the question gets answered and the performer's stage name appears in the forum, it's likely that the performer's name also appears in torrent listings.

I don't know why the forums are public. Putting them behind a log-in wall would solve lots of these problems.

@eobox91103 and @twinkerzzz that is true .. I have often wondered WHY not only is this forum is viewable without even having a membership ... but so are the list of torrents being shared on this site. That is just BEGGING for trouble.
It is impossible to know WHO uploaded what.. although a couple of weeks ago a very suspicious person was asking for exactly that information. I really don't want people to know that i was the one who posted "Pope Paul Prancing around the Park in Pink Panties while Poking a Presbyterian with his Penis" -

Many have for years posted images of porn performers and scenes wanting to know who they are / what film.
A porn star data base sight wont provide indication without a name. gaytorrent.ru forum has been invaluable to users wanting to ID perfomers or movies because so many members are so knowldegable. It's a very normal type of posting for even non torrent sites. We still need confirmation the sub-forum volunteer admin understands they are permitted to allow these type of posts. The new rule was advertised as a splash banner yesterday on the main sight as a consequence of me posting this thread and the sub-forum admin signposting me to the help desk. The banner specifically stated 'no requests for uploads anywhere' (see News: 22-4-18) IT DOESNT SAY 'NO REQUESTS ANYWHERE' ! Obviously if ID requests go as far as requesting an 'upload' then the post should be edited or taken down, but if not, then ID requests shouldn't be deleted.
Can i ask the volunteer admin to respond.
Cheers

@twinkerzzz That is an excellent point.
It should be OK to ask, "Who is this?" "What movie is this from?"Just don't request that a video should be uploaded.

@twinkerzzz That is an excellent point.
It should be OK to ask, "Who is this?"I agree. I wonder if this strange rule would apply to a torrent comment such as, "Who's the guy in the green shorts in the third picture?" This can be very helpful if someone wants to only download one file out of many, and it isn't adding any information to the site.
These things are odd. To quote (the late) Richard Feynman, Nobel laureate in physics, "The universe isn't as strange as we imagine; it's stranger than we can imagine." I don't think he was a member of this site, but his saying applies.

@eobox91103 all this aside.. members are ignoring the elephant in the room.
The content of this site has been dropping faster than a 90 year old woman's tits when she takes off her bra.
In the past, I used to download 20-50 torrents per day from this site. In the past several days, I can barely find 2 torrents a day that look interesting, and even then, I almost always wind up deleting them because they suck.
Someone was arguing with me, saying that even though no gay porn has registered copyrights.. every single recorded image, video, text, video.. is automatically copyrighted the instant it is made. Well, if that is true, then ALL of the content on this site is copyrighted. I wonder what the guys in locker rooms taking a shower to taking a piss think when they see that someone has recorded them without their knowlege, and posted it to the internet? Forget about fake copyrights.. THAT delves into an entirely more serious violation of people's privacy... But.. I am tired of beating this topic to death and having it ignored. My concern is that by the time people wake up to reality.. the damage done to this site will be irreparable.. as it stands now.. a massive number of the best videos on this site have been purged. With that said.. let me point out what IS illegal.. SELLING content that does not belong to you.. this site has NEVER done that. There are many sites that do. typically these other sites charge you a monthly subscription fee.. so you can download content from them that they do not own. Many of these sites have you pay by the minute to view this content. The legal concept is that you cannot SELL something that you do not own. The big stink with mainstream music and mainstream movies was that there were people with warehouses filled with bootleg CDs and DVDs and SELLING them. That is illegal. Whenever MONEY changes hands.. that changes the legal status. As they say "Money changes everything". Not only are their no subscriptions fees on this site.. there are no membership fees to join, and there is not even any advertising! There are not even ads for dildos nor fuck machines nor ads for adult male sizes of Hello Kitty panties!

You raise a lot of complex and inter-connected issues here. Any artistic product (granted, that term seems clumsy when applied to porn) is presumptively copyrighted to its "author," which could be either a porn studio or an amateur with a camera. The copyright owner is the only one who is entitled under law to sell that material. Distribution at no cost by a non-owner (which is the core of a torrent site like this) could be pursued by the copyright owner as a civil matter, seeking damages for lost revenue. These sorts of claims could be successful if brought by a large Hollywood studio against someone who pirated the latest James Bond or Star Wars film, but a porn studio complaining about file-sharing of a 20 minute gay porn fuck scene wouldn't get a lot of sympathy in the courts.
The hidden camera/voyeur material you reference explodes into lots of messy issues: In a studio production, the performers relinquish their rights to the material to the studio. That can't be done if the "performer" doesn't know that he's being filmed...so a copyright for that material could be argued to belong to both the author (who has the camera) and the guy being filmed. But that's the least of problems. Such material is clearly a violation of privacy, which is a serious enough matter. But also, there is no way of knowing that the "performer" in a shower/locker room/public toilet is an adult. I've seen some over-the-stall videos of a lad wanking where it's quite possible that the lad is under age. Making, possessing, or distributing that kind of material is a serious crime. But I think I'm getting off the topic of the thread here...

@eobox91103 one new excellent point you made was that even if they did pursue it.. it would be a CIVIL matter and not criminal, since no money was transferred.. and also.. since it was not sold, they can't collect any money from the sale.. of something that was not sold! Hypothecially, the could sue for damages - but that has never happened. Even if awarded damages, in a civil suit, that is next to impossible. Is have two fantastic examples of that.. I already mentioned Fred Goldman winning a $35 million award against OJ Simpson in CIVIL court.. but Freddie has yet to see a dime of that. Another case was Hulk Hogan suing Gawker and being awarded $115 million. Well.. Hogan has yet to collect a dime of that.

There have been cases where porn companies have sued people who shared or downloaded copyrighted material. I don't have data on how many (if any) of these actions resulted in awarded damages, but it's difficult to collect on a civil lawsuit. The two high-profile cases you mention are an example of that, but even "mid-sized" cases in the tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars are tough to collect, unless the defendant has insurance to pay it. While there are ways to forcibly collect on a judgment, they are difficult and time-consuming, and often not worth the effort on the part of a plaintiff who "won" the judgment.
Some porn producers who sell subscriptions include a condition in their terms of service providing that a subscriber is liable for a certain amount of damages (usually around $50K) if s/he shares copyrighted content. This can make a subsequent civil action easier to win, but still doesn't help with collection.
Another spin on all this is an interesting case involving FlavaWorks; see https://www.thesword.com/flava-works-gay-porn-lawsuit.htmlhttps://www.thesword.com/flava-works-gay-porn-lawsuit.html . In brief, FlavaWorks contacted one of their subscribers directly who had torrent-shared their material, and asked for payment of $97K. The subscriber was a public figure and counter-sued on the grounds that FlavaWorks was trying to extort money from him. I don't know how it turned out, but I think both cases dissolved.
(FlavaWorks was in hot water over some other issues--I seem to recall that the city or county of Miami was suing them for operating a business without a license, and the city of Chicago was suing them for doing porn scenes in a row house in a manner that could be seen from the street. Since both of these actions involved a government, the studio was under greater threat of asset seizure, etc. I don't know how these turned out.)

Since that happens to be the case, I'm not sure what point you think you're making here.
There are many sites that do. typically these other sites charge you a monthly subscription fee.. so you can download content from them that they do not own. Many of these sites have you pay by the minute to view this content.
If you're referring to the main streaming and download porn sites (TLAVideo, AEBN, Gay-Movie, Gay-Top, etc.), they have all licensed the content they make available. The studios take a cut of the fees.
With that said.. let me point out what IS illegal.. SELLING content that does not belong to you.
So is copying something and handing it over to someone else, even if you don't charge. You're still violating their copyright and, presumably, depriving them of a sale. You're simply wrong that money has to change hands for it to be illegal.
Porn studios have pursued these cases in the past, albeit with mixed success. They've won some; they've lost some. Generally, their most effective tactic has been to threaten a lawsuit and settle with the individual or site, since defending yourself is expensive, tedious, stressful, and time-consuming. Titan Media, in particular, used to be very successful with this model and, contrary to your confident assertion, were able to obtain money from quite a few file sharers.
Titan was successful enough and abusive enough during their most active litigious period that the two major gay porn torrent sites at that time both banned sharing of their videos. One of the torrent sites today still has that ban.
This is something I'm reasonably familiar with, having previously been attacked by one of the studios several years ago. It took hiring a lawyer to get them to back off from their threats against me.

I''m sorry you had to go through that. Your screen name sounds familiar--perhaps you shared this story in the forum, and that's what spurred me on to researching things like the FlavaWorks case. I think I posted a response, but haven't followed up on that since then.
