        Is this racism of low expectation or is this just racism?

        Do they think that non-whites (see countless Biden quotes) are too useless to do well or are they making it so non-whites aren't given the opportunity to do well?

          It is just Racism. Liberals have been keeping POC down since the founding of this nation. They have to keep them stupid so they will think that welfare helps them move out of poverty.

            @raphjd Are you sure that this is true? Because I can't nothing about it on the Oregon Governor's website or their state Legislature website. And I am pretty sure that it would be mentioned there at least one of the websites. Can you track your sources?

                  I simply did a search, using DuckDuckGo because Google admits to hiding things they don't like, came up with pages and pages of results.

                  oregon governor signs high school law

                  Take your pick;

                    If you read the links I provided, the Governor's office claims that the website was not updated because the lone female that does that was off sick with a non-Covid related illness.

                      I lived in Oregon for 20 years before coming to Italy. The mentality of Oregonians is interesting. Hyper-right-wing groups exist in most of the geography of the state, but population centers in Eugene, Salem, and Portland along with some low-population coastal centers swing politics hard left.

                      Eugene was the destination of Haight-Ashbury hippie culture, ported there by the Green Tortoise bus line from Lowell, just outside Eugene. I had a home in Lowell overlooking the lake and the old Green Tortoise bus depot.

                      San Francisco pressured hippies out, and there was a steady stream of buses going from SF to Eugene. The Grateful Dead and abundant marijuana culture, tie-dye, and the rest came along for the ride. Funny... those hippies are now the white-collar group, and advancing "norms" that take one back to the 60's in the need to fight the "establishment".

                      Along comes our lesbian friend and governor, but since her governership took hold in Oregon, both sides of the fence are universally lamenting the extent of absence of presence in decision making from Salem ever since. Nothing much there makes sense.

                        Oregon is not that different, then, than - for example - Florida: if you're within 20-30 miles of the coast, you're most-likely a centrist or democrat. However, once you get into the interior, the Republicans rule with an iron-fist! 🙂

                        There are some exceptions: Miami-Dade is relatively even, thanks to the Cuban-Americans who favor Republican politics in general.

                          @boltvolts Maybe I was not explicit enough. Until the late 60's, Grants Pass Oregon had an arched sign over the city limit that said "Welcome to Grants Pass... N***er, Get Your Ass Out of Town by Sundown!" Obviously the second part was in smaller lettering. Truly scary logger enclaves where you really had to be sure you were known going in not to be shot. The only thing I've experienced that was similar is the archetypal Cajun deep in the swamps of Louisiana. I worked all over the US, including 30 weeks in Florida (Jacksonville, Pensacola, Orlando, Miami), plus working catastrophe losses after your four consecutive hurricanes following Hugo.
