Will you not watch bareback porn even though you practice safe sex?
-
I met a guy online. When I told him that I love to watch bareback porn, he was really surprised and said that because it's not safe and you can contract STDs, he doesn't watch unsafe sex.
He also asked me if I practice safe sex, to which I replied yes. I then told him that watching bareback sex has nothing to do with practicing safe sex. (although it might influence)
From the tone of the conversation it appeared to me that he was very reluctant to continue the conversation with me, as if anyone who watches bareback porn must also practice unsafe sex, and therefore should be wary of

That is the dumbest thing I ever heard. Does he think we can contract an STD through a pornstreaming video? How about a VHS tape? Does he think you can catch A.I.D.S through watching VHS taped sex? Bet he wears a mask during zoom calls doesn't he? OMFG!! This people don't live on planet earth.

There are a group of people (including myself) that prefer bareback. But, that doesn't mean I'm careless. That's just as bad as someone making assumptions about someone because of their race or culture. Not only that, it's non of their business! All this means is that people who prefer bareback need to take more extra precautions than the average person.
Plus, by the way, if you're with someone for more than 5-10 years, I don't give a shit what anyone says, eventually those condoms are coming off! This is why knowing your partner is compulsory. Don't just be with a man cause he's cute.
These things are some of the very issues that irritate me about the gay community.

Agree, its red flag, his beliefs are so 80's
-
@kekkaishi I don't see the point (his point) of associating watching bareback porn with practicing safe sex... I don't understand his point. I think it has nothing to do.

Porn is entertainment
Sex is entertainmentPorn is FANTASY
Sex is real-lifePeople who cannot tell the difference are a danger to themselves and others...
-
@kekkaishi i think those are different things, in the end of the day, you are responsible for your own safety

He doesn't sound very smart. Also he's missing out on the hottest porn. Condom porn is so boring to me. The sex looks so boring. Barebackers fuck like they REALLY mean it.

I guess there are three separate questions here:
(a) Is it dangerous to watch bareback porn?
Answer: No! At least no more dangerous than the dangers of porn consumption in general.
(b) Is a sexual partner who watches bareback porn likely to be more risky in their real-life behaviour than one who only watches condom porn, other things being equal?
Answer: I would have to say possibly yes. People who are fastidious about only watching condom porn are probably going to be more fastidious in their sex lives, other things being equal. I say this as someone who overwhelmingly prefers bareback porn and (when on prep and with chosen partners) likes bareback in real life. The problem with judging sex partners by their porn preferences, just from a practical perspective, is that it might not be a big enough factor in a person's real life behaviour to be worth worrying about compared to other things.
(c) Is it ethical to watch bareback porn if you consider it too risky to do yourself?
Answer: On a simple level, no maybe it isn't. Porn actors (unlike professional sportspeople or adventurers) generally do what they do for money and not for the love of it. If we consider an action unacceptably risky we generally shouldn't ask others to do it on our behalf for money.
However, this assumes that our personal judgment of risk must be a Kantian universal judgment for all humans. It might be, but it seems reasonable for someone to say: "I personally wouldn't accept the 1 in a Million chance of catching HIV whilst on prep having sex with other, frequently tested, partners also on prep, but it's still a low enough risk that it's not irrational for a porn actor to take it for good money, even though I personally wouldn't. Therefore, if such people want to accept that risk, I shall watch their material."

Notwithstanding the Kantian considerations advanced above, this I have to agree with!!
