The current system in place for minimum ratio is causing a problem with this website. I've not been a member for very long and in that time I downloaded a couple of big torrents, making my ratio quite bad. They're still seeding and have been for weeks now but nobody else is downloading them. I've downloaded lots of free leech torrents that I thought were going to be popular for the purpose of seeding them to increase my ratio but nobody is downloading them either. So it strikes me that there's probably a lot of members in my situation - download rights taken and struggling to get them back because nobody is downloading their seeded torrents.
If you take everybody's download rights, how is anyone supposed to download the torrents you're seeding? I think you need to lower the required ratios to boost the number of people downloading. I understand that you want to create a community that distributes torrents fairly, and to encourage seeding, but there's no point in that if nobody can download. There needs to be a balance.

That's your main problem here, when you're new to a torrent site you should make sure you do not download any big torrents
Focus on small torrents at the beginning, keep them seeding for a while, build your buffer slowly.
Also do not grab old torrents at first, as they won't get many downloads; only in the long run if you keep seeded for a really long time.For now, keep seeding what you have, and maybe find some content to upload? That will surely get quite a few downloads, maybe some bonus points as well, all of which will help you grind that ratio back. Did you download a couple of large collections? That would be another entry on the long list of reasons why large collections are problematic. I ask because you have downloaded almost 200 GB, which is a lot of videos, almost certainly over 100 and perhaps well over 200. So it's not like you just signed up for an account and then discovered you had a bad ratio the next day.
Stick to newer freeleech videos to try to get upload credit. Wait until you get to 600 seedbonus points and then redeem them for upload traffic for the most efficient conversion, although 10 GB is really just a drop in the bucket in your situation.

I second what others have said: stay away from large (especially old) torrents at the beginning, and focus on freeleech videos - I have gotten a lot of upload traffic from just downloading only a few files from a large freeleech collection early in the freeleech and leaving them seeding. And look around for new content to upload (make sure it's not already here, but different formats are allowed). If you are able, right now you can get a lot of upload credit (5x the usual) for a fairly small donation.

Try and download larger freeleech torrents that have a lot of leechers and not so many seeders yet. That will raise your ratio. Also give your completed torrents votes that will give you some seed-points that you can exchange for traffic.

I've been seeding more than 10 torrents for weeks and weeks now and there's nobody downloading any of them.
I can see there's lots of other users who've had their DL rights taken who probably have the same problem. I'd suggest reducing the ratio limits to encourage people to DL and actually share torrents on this site. Otherwise you're just ending up with a cabal of power users who uploaded TBs of data.

I've been seeding for weeks and still only have 433 points. And 600 points will only give me 10GB and I still need to upload 80GB to get my download rights back. It's almost pointless at this point.

The strategy is simple: Mind your ratio.
There are VERY reasonable and progressive ratio requirements, download limits, and grace periods. There are lots of ways to earn seedbonus points and plenty of freeleech torrents of all sorts.

Problem is, the download limits are based on the number of torrents, so a large collection can still quickly wreck a ratio, as you found out.
People tend to download freeleech torrents much more while they are freeleech because of the artificial demand created by them being free, so it's important to hop on freeleech torrents when they are new if you need upload credit.

Another thing that can help is to find a new torrent, just posted, that has many files. Then, select only a few of them–maybe 10% of the total size--to download. That's straightforward with uTorrent; I'm not sure how it works with other clients. That way, you'll get those first few files very quickly and become a "preferred source" for other downloaders. Your ratio for that torrent could end up being very high, especially if you've got a good internet connection. For example, right now I see 5GB torrent (Rafael Alencar) with only one seeder (the original uploader) and four leechers. Download that torrent, pick only a couple hundred MB of files to download, and you'll be out ratio jail soon.
Note also that torrents get "stale" very quickly...within a day or two, there are LOTS more seeders than there are leechers, especially for freeleech torrents. I recommend only downloading stuff that's very new--preferably, not more than a few hours old. It might not always be material that you like, but if you use the "select only a part" tactic I suggest above, it will help your ratio even if you junk the stuff a week later.

If you're "here for" just doing your shopping I think you're missing the point of this community and torrenting in general. It's all about sharing and a lot of it happens in the medium/long term. It takes some rules for it to work out in the long run.

it looks more like this user doesn't feel like contributing anything. He just wants to consume. He probably has fundamental problems with his attitude.

It might be worth taking a look at the "Guide for Starters" and seeing if it can be edited to give newbies more tips on getting–and keeping--a good ratio. Perhaps it needs a warning against downloading like mad at first which digs the new user into an un-recoverable hole. People need to have reasonable expectations about what they can and can't do.
Also, maybe there's a way of making that guide required reading for new members (maybe it already is, I joined a long time ago).

….something required to read... and there is for sure a checkbox that the user has to check ! Honestly, i do not believe, that anyone has read the Rules or the FAQ who run into ratio problems.

Just last night I added 45GB worth of torrents, all of which had several downloads, but my ratio is still almost the same. In fact my "Uploads" page shows just 764MB of a 30GB torrent I CREATED uploaded.
How is that even possible. I CREATED THE TORRENT. So I at least uploaded 30GB if there's now 13 seeders for the torrent. Not to mention I've got the fastest internet in my city. First I tried just seeding from my desktop, then I seeded from my laptop, too.
No luck. Still showing I need to upload 45GB more to get my download rights back. Insane. I know for certain I've uploaded more than I've downloaded from this site.
Definitely seems like a ploy to force donations. Which makes sense. I mean they need money to run the site. But I wish it was more transparent.

One thing you should note is that your torrent client only updates with the tracker once every 30 minutes per torrent. For this reason, there is a delay in the stats updating, which may seem to make things not seem right. This is actually normal, due to the nature of the way torrents work.
@OP: I see that you're seeding your torrents, but there are no leechers. I can help you a little in that respect, as some of the torrents you are seeding, including a 200 GB collection qualify for freeleech and/or promotion. This will no doubt help with your situation. Just make sure that the port that your torrent client uses is forwarded through your home network or VPN to your computer.

Yes there is something fundamentally wrong with torrent distribution.
I have been posting several absolute new vids and seen my upload speed go into the ceiling for then go back to the lousy 2-24 kb/s after the vid have reached a single complete upload, or stop completely at sharing aspect 1,5 while seeing it has been snatched 50 times and more.
When i download something the speed is in MB and my upload speed on the same stays in the few kb despite i know my upload speed is better. And the low speed upload ends immediately after the download is complete.Yes i have been lucky with some freeleeches, particularly the christmas offers. And i have understood the advices on how to get up ratio, but the problem remains. Torrent clients prefer using those who have higher speed, and that is probably those who use seed boxes.
Its unfair. And the problem lies in the torrent technology. Its fucking inferior technology.So meanwhile I use eMule, and i upload TBs monthly there. I have no problem with my sharing ratio there, its 10-20 GB down pr month, and I think its ok.
The reason to use gay torrent is of course the browse and search possibilities. And there are offers not available by emule, but also th other way around. Adding a file for upload for emule is as easy as putting it in a new folder while releasing a torrent is .. yes you know, but i think the process of searching up for not making duplicates are tedious, and i usually gets lost in surfing and forget about adding torrents.And right now- have got a new pc, and when i add some of the old torrents, they start downloading again, despite me having the file. I really want other ways of spoiling my ratio. Any ideas why ?
