New Design
-
I just did a quick sloppy mock up of what could be improved from the current design.
-
Put Info/Snatched columns on the left, next to subcategory thumbnail column
-
Name/Description column right after. Text only.
-
Thumbnail column that displays only a SINGLE row of images.
You can still make it responsive. The first three columns (Category, Info, Description) will always be present and the amount of thumbnails shown would be relative to the width of the user's browser.
Additionally, maybe the user can also choose to disable/enable the thumbnail column should they only want text in their search results - so disabling thumbnail column means the description column would expand. Could save on bandwidth for both the site and the user and because it is responsive, the height of each line is also smaller allowing the page to display more results
Vertical space is also precious real estate and I think being able to display as much results in one page makes more sense (especially for something that is a search function). A comparison of the new design where you can see 8 results and the old one where you can see around 17 results (both sites are zoomed in the same).
I would even say if possible, i would omit the thumbnails for subcategories (because it forces a minimum row height) and instead just use Colored, styled text.
I do like the new color scheme. Improvement from the previous one. you're definitely on the right track, though and I think the new redesign definitely has good potential with some tweaks.

In general, I like the new design very much, more concise and less cluttered. However, for the torrent search result page, I think it's the opposite because thumbnails are now shown inline for every result. In the old design, I could quickly browse the titles/descriptions of the search results and only look at screenshots that interested me by hovering the title. In the new design the thumnnails overpower the title/description and it takes me much longer to find things I'm interested in. So I second the previous commenter's sentiment to make the thumbnails optional via a profile setting, not just for bandwidth saving reasons but also for the reasons outlined above. It would be much appreciated if that would be possible!

Good Morning,
I prefer the old version.
In the browse section, there are images that elongate and it does not display it correctly.
And I prefer older top menus, they seem faster to me.
Thanks!!

I think new layout is too wide on PC. Search results have no margins on left and right, so text ant table cells is near borders of screen. It's inconvenient.
-
its kinda okay-ish (i like the new colours) but theres sadly so much wrong/broken now
Desktop:
- overall: max-width for the content-area would be awesome (something like 1200px/80vw for desktop?)
- torrent-overview: i still "hate" those image-hover effects over the torrent-titles. would be awesome to move them to the camera-icon. they also now kinda obsolete because the images are now shown in the description-field
- torrent-overview: as i talked about the description: please truncate those and/or make the container-height dynamic. scrolling containers is bad practice and also fucks up the regular scroll if the mouse is placed in the middle
- torrent-overview: the screengrabs kinda (optically) clash with the section-images -> move them (screengrabs) to a new place or maybe replace the section-icons with something more abstract so they don't look like screengrab-images?
Mobile:
- overall menu + screen-elements (buttons, select-fields, checkbox etc) are way to big. got an iphone 11 pro and the poll-box on the frontpage takes almost 50% of my screen. with the huge menubar its more than 50% for not much information. (also the question is missing on mobile+desktop?!)
- search field is obfuscated by the huge dropdowns (move them to a new line?)
- viewport is kinda buggy/broken, could be also due to the wayy to huge boxes (overflowing horizontally)
thanks for your effort of this redesign. i'm pretty sure with some fixes this could be a great new design for gt.ru

Not a fan of the images being on the Search page, but because I think that people should be able to see them if they want to then I'd like the option to turn them off via a setting.
yeah ..don't worry.. at the end you will find some toggles on that page where you can switch between long and short description, if you want to see pics, all pics or no pics. etc… give it some time. it'll evolve for the better.

Since the redesign seems to be a work in progresss I won't comment other than to say it seems to be going well. You'll get lots of noise about it, I'm sure, but people hate change. They forgot that they themselves had to grow up at one time. I DO like that the site is much faster now. Oh, I still think that Feet should be its own catagory.
-
I really like the progress on the redesign!
I just saw the extended view on the search pages, and to me it seems to be the best of the search and browse features.
It works well for the way I use the site. I see some other proposed tweaks, and I will see how it all works out.
Thanks for a HUGE effort!

I think new layout is too wide on PC. Search results have no margins on left and right, so text ant table cells is near borders of screen. It's inconvenient.
I echo this comment. The search page wants to expand to full window width with no margins, and with a wide-screen monitor, this is clumsy. I suggest a maximum width. This might mean reducing the number of displayed thumbnails, but we had that in the previous search screen when mousing over, and it was not a problem.
I do like having the torrent description and thumbnails "live" rather than only on mouse-over, although it increases the server's upload. It's also a good way to identify "deadbeat" torrents that have no description and/or thumbnails. Eventually it would be nice to have a gate in the upload process that stopped torrents with no sample images…but let's not get ahead of ourselves.
I commend the hard (!) and conscientious work of the moderators and programmers who are clearly trying to make this already-excellent site even better.

I also came here to make this comment. Having the preview pics is nice but the search.php page is just far too wide. I love the rest of the redesign but browse.php is the perfect width for a torrent list page imo.

Glad to hear about this, I was wondering why it keeps changing for me - sometimes it was like the old design with no preview images on the list, and other times they were there making the list very long to scroll. I agree having the option there for those that like them is good.
That was my only gripe really, everything else is fine, the font size is more manageable. Appreciate the work being put in to making the site more usable and modern

Minor bug in browse page.
In the browse page, if the picture selected is one of those tall, multi shot pictures the entire shot is shown in the browse page. In the old page, it appears as if these overly tall pictures were trimmed to a reasonable height.

I'm sorry but this is awful, all I see is the name of the torrent and pictures with no information?
I would be hard pressed to decide on what to download with this minimalistics display, the old one was fit for purpose, this is not. If people wanted to see just pictures and little else there was always the browse function, not sure how this is supposed to be the slightest bit better? -
Hey, I wanted to thank you for the new option to see all the miniatures under the name of the torrent! That makes it easier to browse and find torrents.
I like the new design, but I have a problem in my cellphone: I can't see my stats directly, like in the desktop version. It only shows the "Profile", "Affiliate", "Messages", "Details & Stats" and "My torrents" buttons, but I can't see my ratio, I can't see my seedpoints, and I can't access to the page to trade points for UL GBs, so I have to switch to the desktop version to look at it.I hope this can help.
Thanks. -
Couldn't switch it back fast enough, takes much longer to scroll down on non-mobile. I don't need to read every full description unless I decide to click on something. Not better for me, not sure why it's assumed to be better for all.
A shame this doesn't offer something like a desktop version (old display) plus mobile device version (new display), depending on what is being used, like FB.I'm ashamed that as an individual I can't keep up with the development power of Facebook and Microsoft and Co. Shame on me. Sorry sorry sorry

Thanks. But people must also understand that after such a long time with a design from 2006, it is time to make some changes. I see the statistics of how many people use the site from a mobile device. The reasons are many and varied. Instead of questioning them, I have long since decided to support them fully. Unfortunately I lacked the time until now. It is not done in a few hours. Instead, I will let you participate in the process a little bit and I will also be fed by your feedback.
Those who follow this thread here attentively have already noticed that opinions differ greatly on some points. None of you is wrong. With the next update you will be able to customize the layout to your needs. For the next hours, maybe until tomorrow, you will have to be satisfied with the current version. Even then it won't be the final version. But I'm sure that in the end I'll be able to do more than just fulfill your wishes!
Minor bug in browse page.
Let me finish the search page. then i go over to make the browse page better.
I like the new design, but I have a problem in my cellphone: I can't see my stats directly, like in the desktop version. finally i will make tweaks to the cellphone view of those pages. The Design is somehow "mobile ready" but not fully optimized for the cellphones. be patient !

PLEASE ,it was OK like it was before!
If i wanted to see images of twinks getting fucked i used to check but not like this Please dear make it configurable at least
:crazy2: -
The new design is a bit confusing for me… I guess I will have to get used to the new layout, but, for example, the fact that all the personal information is under one heading seems to be less visual than before. The same happens with the "Torrents" one: now you have to click to find the options...
Changes, though, are always good
Let's get used to them, then. -
I think the new design is nicely streamlined and well thought out. Sure, there are glitches here and there, but those are being corrected. The folks here seem to work hard to provide us a great, free experience. They often get a rude response for their efforts. They want your input, of course, but even that can be accompanied by a "thank you" … look around the world today and imagine how the simplest courtesy can make a huge difference.
-
The new layout is amazing and its faster. But I still missing tools to filter the search results like per date and size… it'd be very very useful.
Thanks. -
First, thank you for going to the effort to update the UI. I know this isn't easy and I appreciate the effort taken to make things more usable and visually nice.
I tried the new UI and switched back after 5-6 pages.
I'm using this on a laptop and everything feels positively huge and takes up a lot of space. This may be a big ask but can we make things smaller so we see more per line and the fonts aren't so large. I liked the older UI's clean look with only text and images appearing if you hovered over. Now, it's a sea of images and it's a bit overwhelming. Having one image may help but 5-10 images on each line is just too much. Maybe it's me but it's too busy and hard to focus on what you want.
Thank you for giving us the ability to provide feedback on this
