Seed bonus and older torrents - how to know if uploader is still here
-
I'm not sure where to ask this, but how do I know if the uploader's account is still active on older or recycled torrents? Sometimes they ask for bonus points, but I have no idea to know if they're still here years later. Thanks.

Short of asking a moderator for assistance and providing them the torrent link, or filing a helpdesk request and providing a link for them to verify whether or not the account is still known, there is no way for a normal user to verify if the account is still known. This is largely for privacy reasons. While we cannot disclose information about who the individual is, we should at the very least be able to confirm whether or not the uploader is still known.

Okay, thanks. One follow-up question: what happens to those bonus points given after the uploader's account no longer exists?

These are both questions I have asked myself, so thanks for making the effort, viscous.
I will admit, when I see it's a recycled torrent from more than a year ago, it's unlikely I will add Seedbonus points, not knowing if the member is still active. And yes, do points awarded to recycled files and departed members simply float off into the ether?
Knowing the member status of a recycled torrent – possibly indicated by an additional line of text, "Uploader: Active" or "Uploader: Inactive" -- would be helpful to the points above.
I do realize, however, that this Forum is a pre-designed module. Some enhancements are doable and worth the effort, while others are (choose one or more)...
impossible;
possible, but too time-consuming to program and upkeep;
are of very limited benefit; and/or
are of benefit, but only to a small group.In any event, this recycled torrent information seems worth the effort, imho, and at the very least, your topics are open for consideration / explanation, viscous. :clap2:

Correct… If SBP are given to an uploader that no longer exists, the points simply vanish into never-never land... They are deducted from your total, however because the target account is not known, they aren't credited anywhere and simply "disappear".

And yes, do points awarded to recycled files and departed members simply float off into the ether?Yes, it's all very Zen. Are they seed bonus points, or not seed bonus points? If a seed bonus point that is not a seed bonus point lands in the ether of gaytorrent.ru…does it make a difference? Perhaps we should leave it as a great imponderable.
