The name calling and lack of civility…
-
Can we please discuss politics and debate in this forum without so much name calling? This has seriously gotten ridiculous. I understand in terms of satire (such as my signatures) some name calling is fine, but this constant childishness is uncalled for. The deflection has also gotten worse on here. What happened to making an argument and then defending your position without constant deflection and childish name calling? We're adults here, not high school teens (or middle school pre-teens in some of your cases). Also ***tard and other variations have been banned, yet I'm still seeing it posted in threads. Why is that?
-
Yep I agree.
The big problem here are the low quality posts shitposts that only insult or otherwise do nothing to add to the conversation.
Shitposts like this: https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=50358.msg273406#msg273406
And this: https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=50358.msg273393#msg273393
Shouldn't be allowed, because they don't even have a point. They're literally only there to insult people.
Spamming the forum is also stupid (e.g., Drwas) and do nothing to add to the conversation whatsoever and is totally rude and incivil. All he did was copy and paste a bunch of articles, which is low quality and requires zero effort. That's a sign of someone who is desperate because he has a hard time thinking for himself.

This is the Politics & Debate thread; therefore, if someone posts a news article or quotes from a news article, why not frame an argument against what the article says or begin a debate about the facts or false assumptions of the article? In my opinion, the only "low quality shit posts" are the ones where childish insults are thrown or massive generalizations are made such as "[certain person] makes all [certain group of people] look bad." This isn't about being politically correct, it's about being civil adults. Someone on here kept saying I deemed everything I didn't agree with as irrational and that simply wasn't the case. I deemed specific arguments irrational only after making my argument why I believed they were irrational, not by simply stating they were irrational just because or only because I disagreed. Instead of forming their argument to counter mine, they just claimed I call everything I disagree with irrational, and then they proceed to flame other posts of mine with irrelevant points that are clearly meant to derail and deflect. If you do not know how to be civil then you should rethink participating in this thread, simple as that. How can we expect to debate when one side is being extremely childish?

The two of you are being hypocritical here. You are offering no substantial input, but intstead just attacking other member - whomever they might be. That is actually against the rules. If you got a complaint, complain to the moderator. Don't rinse out your period stained panties in the forum.
"Name calling" as you put it.. is essentially done on a mass scale by such institutions as the Quinnipiac University, which keeps churning out polls showing Trump and his policies being more and more unpopular. For those who are not aware of it.. Quinnipiac University is known to be one of the most liberal Universities. As we learned from the 2016 election. Poll results are often completely WRONG.

Yeah I dunno, I don't mind the shit posters… I mean, know thy audience and all that. I'll generally engage on the same level as the poster. If they're just trolling then I'll enjoy mocking their idiocy. It's just that kind of board. If it gets more civil then that's fine, but we can also enjoy it as it is...

I would love to see proper debates/discussion here.
HOWEVER, I don't see that happening when certain liberals follow me (and others) around down voting EVERYTHING we post no matter what the topic is or what I happen to say. I made a factual post about the London attack that it was 1 attack with 2 parts and the usual ass clown liberals down voted it.
Also, liberals keep reporting me on the Help Desk making up lies about me especially, but others as well because we don't agree with the liberal mind set.

Also ***tard and other variations have been banned, yet I'm still seeing it posted in threads. Why is that?
Because I'm not going to waste my time hunting down all the posts from before that rule was put into place.

See, you had a point for a second there, then you went on the attack. Now I see you as a liar, who is only pandering to your fellow liberals. You are just a partisan hack.

So this was supposed to be a compliment?
No wait, "substantial input"!

My reply was a retort to pppussi's comment of "I totally agree". If everybody that agreed or disagreed with a post pulled that stunt, the forum would be flooded with comments of simple "I agree" and "I don't Agree" perhaps pppussi didn't notice the "thumbs up", "thumbs down" icons in the lower right. Sutieday sure knows about them. Sutieday clicks on "thumbs down" on people he doesn't like without even reading the comments, and then denies doing it. I know how long it akes to read 3 paragraphs.. and I've seen Sutieday hit that "Thumbs down" button within 2 seconds of a post popping up.

There is an expression that goes "you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear". Likewise, when someone makes a 3 word comment, I sometimes can't come up with "substantial input". In that one case, I was trying to impress upon ppussi that he should refrain from spamming the forum with his trivial retorts. Sutieday does very little more than click on Thumbs Down and occasionally adds a 3 word shot.
I think that is enough back and forth for today. Let's see if DrWas has dreamed up another 13 new fake topics to share with us today. Maybe something with UFO's today.. or giant rutabagas that speak Mandarin Chinese. -

That seems especially descriptive of most of Fredericks posts.

Why not the original poster frame an argument? You're requiring that people responding come up with an argument, when the original poster didn't even do that? Ludicrous.

Low quality shitpost detected. Royalcrown, are you going to call out both sides as above or just conservatives? You clearly have no problem singling out raphjd, as hard as you tried to mask your intent. Hypocrisy much?

This thread is about the lack of civility, not me making an argument for a certain position. Where in my original post did I make a political statement that needed an argument to back up the statement? I have made plenty of threads on here–-the non-satirical ones---that made a claim and I backed up my claim with an argument filled with logical reasoning, not gut-feeling or name-calling or just stating, "You're wrong because I disagree." This entire forum is becoming toxic and it seems like there isn't an honest effort to bring some civility to it.

I'm saying that spamming the forum without actually adding any content is rude and incivil. Anyone can use google and turn up the same articles. Reposting them here without saying anything is pointless. Do you really want to turn this forum into a spamming match? I mean, more than it already is?
This entire forum is becoming toxic and it seems like there isn't an honest effort to bring some civility to it.
I absolutely agree.
However, where we disagree is whether you are actually helping or not. Calling out rapjhd when there are easily far more egregious examples, pretty much everywhere, is hypocritical. For example this: https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=50262.msg273492#msg273492
Liberals love to censor, insult people with accusations of racism, sexism and internalized-homophobia (lol) without actually presenting a counter-argument. But for now at least, this forum provides freedom of speech, and conservatives are wising up to bullying, gas-lighting tactics.
And because the usual tactics are not working here liberals here are definitely salting the earth/poisoning the well, by ramping up the toxicity to 11.
Call out your own side too, because honestly they're not going to listen to us conservatives.

See, you had a point for a second there, then you went on the attack. Now I see you as a liar, who is only pandering to your fellow liberals. You are just a partisan hack.
An attack or the truth? Did you or did you not say this in another post, "Maxine Waters makes black people look bad,"? You have repeatedly made disgusting generalizations like this and I have had to tell you on more than one occasion that Maxine Waters does not speak for me and I am black. She does not represent me because I do not live in her district. You cannot say someone speaks for an entire group of people just because you "feel" like that person thinks they represent an entire group of people. I do not make posts saying David Duke represents all white people because HE DOES NOT. He doesn't even represent a significant number of white people because white supremacists are a tiny, tiny extremely small fraction of the population. No white person represents all white people. How am I a liar when there are no posts on here of me ever saying, " represents all white people?" There's plenty of evidence of you saying Don Lemon, Maxine Waters, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and a whole host of other black people represent every single black person. So I ask you again, who is the real liar here?
-
Did you or did you not say this in another post, "Maxine Waters makes black people look bad,"? So I ask you again, who is the real liar here?
"Maxine Waters makes black people look bad" is not a statement of fact, but an opinion. So saying that he is "the real liar" is not only a personal attack, but also wrong. Do we really need to spam the forum with all the articles generalizing Trump supporters? Because you KNOW those bigoted articles exist and are 100% serious, whereas what raphjd said was just a quip. I can also point you to all the generalizations about conservatives on these very forum. So what you're saying is also hypocritical, because again, you're only calling out one side.
