Joey Stefano had a tragic story and if it's done well, it can be a really compelling movie.

I'm glad to hear Jeff Stryker is currently doing well- there are enough tragic stories out there of former porn stars. Having an occasional one with a happy(ish) ending would be nice for a change, and Stryker is a true legend. I'd love to see his story as a movie too!

It doesn't play for me in VLC, but works fine in Media Player Classic.

Although the extension says .mp4, Media Info identifies it as iso5 …and no, I don't know what that means.

I love a gay themed movie which has heart and can make you laugh-not to say the sadder, more serious ones aren't important of course, it's just my preference.

So if you like your themed movies lighthearted, or inspiring- these are some of my recommendations:

Also- even though we're talking movies- I have to also add the TV series New Normal. It was a lot of fun while it lasted.

I love “The Birdcage” (Williams was just perfect) and “Pride” (although I wanted that one of the boys didn't remain alone at the end of the film, and yes, I'm talking about Joe).

I didn't like “Longhorns”, but Villanueva was hot enough to see the whole movie. Haha.

The other ones that you mentioned, I'll keep them in mind.  😉

I loved Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a Hustler in this.

My favorite is Hellbent followed by My Beautiful Laundrette.

Watched this last night and it's a nice documentary, straightforward and the face of Tab Hunter, just gorgeous

Gay media in general is pretty much bunk.
Even though it may fall into the category you call "cheesy sentimentality", I found Big Eden to be quite endearing.
