      On the federal  level in the US, much like in France and the Constitutional Council, there will be a fight if and when it becomes law of the land and, DOMA (defense of marriage act defining marriage as between one man and one woman) has already been ruled unconstitutional so that's something.

      @ozyme:

      @myrea:

      I had the impression that Austrália was very gay friendly tho… much more than Europe.

      Australia is very gay friendly but not when it comes to marriage as yet but the support is growing. Religious groups are very powerful in Australian politics and they are against same-sex marriage.

      same with America: religious groups very powerful in US politics. We're winning by default tho- as the federal gv't has decided to allow individual states to dictate same sex marriage laws, those laws banning such unions are one by one being ruled unconstitutional. Pennsylvania the most recent US state to now fully legalize same sex marriage. 19 down, 31 to go!

      However  slowly, I agree re:
      @Dax:

      …It may not happen tomorrow, but soon all Australian states, all states in the US, all EU member states and several other countries in the world will be able to celebrate the right to same-sex marriage. There may be ups and downs, but progress cannot be stopped.
      Progress will NOT be stopped!

      Being gay is not easy… but not only in Russia.

      In Brazil gay people are commonly insulted in a lot of environments. Religious men talks in the name of god against the "devilish homosexualism".

      So, the offenses grows up e turns to agression, by the back of god.

      The churchs, mainly the neopentecostal churchs, are using their power to convince their "lambs" vote in their candidates, so they can make laws limiting the homosexuals rights.

      I think the main problem to the homosexuals is the religion, not the government of any country in particular...

      I agree with jayschmi1. Radicals took advantage of the situation. I dislike Assad for his ruthlessness but he is turning out to be the lessor of two evils simply because he is more secular.
      There are people within the rebels fighting against radical usurpers but I am not sure how successful they will be.

      When the dust settles the Syrian people will turn their hate and violence onto the gay community. So I don't see how it can be better if the rebels win, even if they overcome the radicals. If they bring sharia suffering the lives of gays will be worse. If Assad wins he will most likely also use gays as scape goat.

      From my perspective considering how cruel and wicked Muslim heterosexual men are to gays. I am not sorry if they die, Rebel,  Assad or civilian. All of them want me as a gay man to die and suffer greatly before I do. So let them kill each other, they enjoy inflicting this hatred and suffering on gays so let them reap what they so like to sow.

      There is nothing to be proud of in Syria. If I were you I would leave and never look back, their hatred has consumed them leave before it consumes you. You think of them as your brothers but if they know you are gay, they will come for you.

      Maybe Biden should run for President in 2016, would be nice to see a gay friendly President in office that was gay friendly before he took the oath of office.

      I must say I see much more of this from Republicans in the future and the cartoon is dead accurate. They can not survive with out supporting Gay Rights and time will prove this to be the truth.

      'natural marriage'? no coupling (even same-sex) is natural but marriage is man-made, you do not see congregations of animals to confirm the partnership of their peers.
