But the point here is whether people are being discriminated here as in 'to cause harm' or what not. And right, like you mentioned in the article, these people can have opinions on whether is ok to capitalize white is a bad idea. In my opinion, this is a non-issue. I think both words should be treated the same but whether one is or not I don't think is a major issue. Racism is an issue, not how we spell words. If a letter can lead to major turmoil then we have bigger problems than how we spell words

I agree that racism is major issue here in the US and around the world but when people talk about racism they usually mean whites being racists against blacks, or blacks treated different/inferior, or subjugated. Can this exacerbate the problem? Sure. Should we concentrate in fixing inequality and racism against races rather than how a newspaper spells "Blacks"? I think so

Yeah a few are in Stage 3 . Less than a year. The virus was discovered December 2019 and the world started to became aware January 2020. The reason why it has taken less than other vaccines is because 1. There's a race to see who can produce a vaccine first (not necessarily a bad thing if proper protocols are followed) and 2. Other coronavirus have been studied for years, this is just a new variation of it. China mapped the virus and published to the world January or February of this year which would speed the process towards a vaccine

What should worry you is that the president has constantly criticized the FDA, CDC, and other health agencies/professionals and is trying to have a vaccine before the election at any cost just so he can tell people that he's doing something.

1. In a capitalist society you vote in such private entities/platform with your wallet. You don't like "cuties"? don't watch it. They'll pull it out for low ratings. If they brought to viewers or is renewed for a second season is because people like it (or at least they think they would). Just because you don't like it doesn't make it should be canceled. Do I think is disturbing and weird? sure I do, but we can't tell them to cancel it just because you don't agree with it. This is the definition of cancel culture.

Now, I've never watched a shane dawson video don't even like but, putting shane dawson (surely, a weirdo by some people's standards) in the same category as Harvey Weinstein, a convicted rapist and other sexual acts paints you as a dishonest person and someone that paints everyone with the same brush. Why should we cancel Shane Dawson for what he did in the past doing black face? even if people found funny (since he had thousands of views)? If someone made a racially charged joke in the 80s and now is being brought up, should they be cancelled? even people enjoyed and were ok with that in the past?

You can be pro-shut down and still still go to salon/barbershop. No one (republican or democrat) is against going to the barbershop if necessary precautions are taken (small amount of people inside, everyone using masks unless necessary to take it off -addressed down below-, etc…). Hypocritical would be for her to say all salons to be shutdown and then go to the salon. Meaning saying not to do something and then doing the exact same thing she said not to do. I've never heard her saying not to do that. What is shameful here is that salons are closed in this area California where she went to, this is what is wrong. Is it wrong if she went to a place where it was open? no, not more wrong than the average bill  getting a haircut. You can be "pro-shutdown" and still go places, as the cases start to go down and rate of infection increased, no "pro-shutdown" is pro-shutdown because they like it or they're fanatics.

Second, we don't really know if she didn't wear a mask at all, we are just seeing a few seconds of videos and picture. Do we know if she was using a mask when arrived there? Was she wearing it the whole time? we don't know, we're just assuming without actually knowing. For example, I went to the barbershop a few weeks ago and they asked me to the my mask off because they couldn't cut my hair. An image of image without context would've been seen as hypocritical but that is not telling the full picture. You can see her hair is wet, maybe she took it off since they couldn't wash her hair with a mask, I don't know. The default position would be to without judgement until more evidence or clear picture is given

@raphjd There is definitely no excuse for this. Regardless of who enacted the rules (democrat or republican), we look up to our leaders to do the right things. To be above and superior some of us and serve as beacon of guidance. It is shameful what she did. Wouldn't classify as hypocritical since she hasn't said to stop going to salons (that I'm aware of) or anything of such nature. Still, there's not excuse for this and I do think she should acknowledge her mistake
