RE: Turn offs
You are quoting data without puting it into context, and without any kind of critial or analytical perspective. It's a very narrow-minded way of seeing the world.
Anyone can say something is flawed or out of context without pointing out the flaws or how it is out of context. That is even more incindiary than the supposedly out-of-context data. It is ironic that you mention the lack of analytical perspective since you have provided absolutely no analytical perspectives or empirical evidence for your counter argument.

RE: US: The 6th Circuit Court of Appeals upholds gay marriage bans
It is not abnormal to show compassion toward others. I have neither the time nor the energy to point out all the injustices in this world; there are enough in my own "backyard" so to speak. When I asked why he cared, it wasn't about compassion that prompted me but about interest. I have vested interests in my causes. I don't have any vested interests outside my country unless I was to donate to Doctors Without Borders or The Peace Corps. I was curious if he had a vested interest in the States even though he is in the UK. I just would like to know more people efforts toward equality they seek.

RE: The effect of gay marriage on marriage itself
3. I meant explain your reasoning for stating it was a false cause fallacy from above. I hope you have a better source than wikipedia.
Again, I say cite your sources and explain your justification for the false cause fallacy. Anyone can post numbers, all I see is the number of marriages and not of cohabitation. If it says approximately 5 per 1000 are married in Sweden, then this doesn't mean that the other 995 per 1000 are cohabitating. That is a very weak induction. You can go from specific to general, but not general to specific (see square of opposition). The set membership comprising non-married includes single people and widows or widowers. This is still not proof of greater cohabitation in Europe. Since you like fallacies, this is a fallacy of division; something that is true for the whole class (non-married) is not true for all of its parts (cohabiters, etc.). Please list the junk correlatives. In addition, please provide evidence tying into your previous post about how many non-married Europeans are cohabitating in addition to having kids as well as those that don't.

RE: Turn offs
Which cities are there that you think are have a high standard of living. Even if some people are living like kings-most likely only the politicians–everyone else is underserved. What's more, as you pointed out, is the great disparity in income and living conditions. Third world countries are so named because of their low regard for human rights, a low GNI gross national income per capita, country wide average of low literacy, country wide average of low access to medical necessities.

1. Where is your statistics for scandinavia to compare to the U.S..
2. By Europe do you mean all of Europe, all Europeans have more unmarried cohabitation.
3. I meant explain your reasoning for stating it was a false cause fallacy from above. I hope you have a better source than wikipedia.
4. I never mentioned the effect on U.S. marriages. I only mentioned scandinavia. -
RE: Does the Bible condemn being gay?
two wrongs don't make a right and all that, I like raphjd's picture "be the person your dog thinks you are". They may be mean spirited so don't behave like them. Besides that's an ad hominem argument i.e., attacking the person instead of the argument.

RE: The effect of gay marriage on marriage itself
Since legalizing registered partnerships and gay marriage in Scandinavia, an overwhelming number of adults have simply stopped bothering to get married in the first place
This is cum hoc ergo propter hoc in all its splendor.

RE: The effect of gay marriage on marriage itself
The US is a nation of immigrants now, but it was founded by the English and the Dutch–hence, names like New Amsterdam, which was purchased by the English and renamed New York--with some aid from the French and with a prevailing God fearing people mainly of protestant [W.A.S.P. (white Anglo-Saxon Protestant)], congregationalist and other denominations of Christianity. Blue bloods. We allow foreigners (i.e., 1st, 2nd and 3rd generations), but the de facto language of the U.S. is English. The U.S. had an isolationist policy in the 1800s. We then started allowing more people in out of necessity for labour. They provided cheap labor. Even now, why do you think the U.S. outsources to India and China? Because they have extremely cheap labour. Why pay an American who will receive overtime and benefits and have unions breathing down your back when China and India and other third world countries just want your the good old greenback with no regard for human rights.

RE: US: The 6th Circuit Court of Appeals upholds gay marriage bans
Just wondering, but you are in the United Kingdom and the Supreme Court upheld marriage for gays, why do you care about "The States"?
Wow what an ignorant comment. We have enough people who don't care about us. We don't need more indifference or at the very least, lack of compassion from people in the same community (which itself is a dubious term).
The difference is in our perspective. My attributes and orientation do not define me, they are part of me. I'm a person first. I don't always agree with everything just because gay people want or endorse it. It has to fit every aspect of me. I find it interesting bringing up ignorance in that the people here that don't want to be judged are calling Christians idiots for following a book of fairy tales. Christians are judging gay people. Why are you behave just like your persecutors. Just work towards what you want and don't waste your energy on them.

I certainly would like whatever everyone is on, when they say there's no gay marriage in the U.S. since it's legal in 35 states and you couldn't pay me to live in the states where it's not, so just move to a state where it's legal. Besides, I don't know why anyone would want to live anywhere that isn't on the west coast. -
RE: Does the Bible condemn being gay?
In a word, no. When someone says that the Bible condemns “homosexuality,” what they usually mean to say is that the Bible condemns homosexual behavior. (Not everyone agrees, however; see the next question.) Remember, “being gay” doesn’t mean that someone is sexually active.
The Bible condemns some types of sexual behavior, and it condemns lust of any sort (whether heterosexual or homosexual). But nowhere does the Bible discuss same-sex attractions or how to live as a Christian if you have gay feelings. These are subjects on which we must seek God’s heart through prayer and the guidance that we do have in Scripture.
I think that is extremely well put. :true:

RE: Turn offs
It wasn't as much a generalization as it is data driven. Third world countries are poor, the reason for being classified as such. Poverty precludes people from being able to afford dental and healthcare and general nourishment. Transitively, that leads to poor dental and poor physical health. The doctors without borders and the peace core, etc., exist to aid those countries because they are in need.

Here you go. Everyone not in green is likely to have poor hygiene.

RE: The effect of gay marriage on marriage itself
That would defeat the purpose. Marriage is only Christian if you are christian. If you are not Christian, why bother. Civil unions are marriages without the church. Why not just write up a contract or trust, bequeathing your things to your partners - solver civil unions and tax purposes. Want to have visiting rights and say in their health at the hospital - create an advanced directive and give your partner power of attorney, which is stronger than the rights marriage gives.

Saving Christmas - Put Christ Back In Christmas (In Theatres Now)
I though I'd post the article here.
Kirk Cameron’s going crazy on his Facebook page over reviews of his Saving Christmas movie. Kirk takes his evangelical douchebaggery seriously and promoted his film by telling women to get back in the kitchen. He posted this photo yesterday to thank his supporters for the film’s “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes. He’s delusional. The film has an 8% rating. The LA Times called it “an unholy mess” and Peter Sobczynski of RogerEbert.com labeled it as “the only Christmas movie I can think of, especially of the religious-themed variety, that seems to flat-out endorse materialism, greed and outright gluttony.”Kirk was talking about the audience rating. He rallied his Facebook troops, and they briefly raised the film to a 94% audience rating. Already, Kirk’s “good work” has disappeared because the audience rating fell to 40%. That doesn’t matter though! Kirk told his followers to “keep storming” because “the haters and atheists are coming out of the woodwork.” He feels persecuted, but “together, they can’t stop us! Are you with me??” Nope.
What’s ironic — and sadly funny — is that Kirk is the biggest hater. He hates non-believers and non-evangelicals. He hates women, obviously. Oh, and he really hates gay people. Remember, he called homosexuality “unhealthy, detrimental, and destructive.” He fought for freedom by saying, “This is a war we can win.” As if gay people truly waged war on Kirk Cameron.
Anyway. A new video by a group called “Deeper Understanding” started circulating online. Kirk’s production company, Living Waters Productions, already yanked it from YouTube. The footage assembled Kirk’s speeches about how to “witness” to a gay person. Kirk provides instructions on how to tell “our gay friends” they’re going to hell. I salvaged these quotes before the video disappeared:
