"An L.A. family with serious boundary issues have their past and future unravel when a dramatic admission causes everyone's secrets to spill out."

I have seen critic reviews raving about this show and humbly disagree with all of them. The creator and writer has demonstrated previous success in the industry. To me, this makes the poor quality of writing and entertainment value to be all the more disappointing. I wanted to stop watching about five minutes into the show. But since this was an Amazon pilot under consideration to be picked up as a series for Amazon Prime Video, I continued watching to the very end to be as fair as possible. My opinion did not change between my initial impulse to end the pain and the end of the show.

"Set in a dystopian future, a woman is forced to live as a concubine under a fundamentalist theocratic dictatorship."

In a nutshell, the story is real.

It is rooted in historical fact. It includes nothing that has not already happened to women across the world.

The acting is brilliant, and beyond that, the cast seems determined and devoted to tell this very powerful story for not only women, but men. When people's rights are trod on, it affects everyone.

"At a predominantly white Ivy League college, a diverse group of students navigate various forms of racial and other types of discrimination."

The reason I gave this show a chance was because of its title. I knew nothing about it but thought at least it would stir something up. It didn't. Not funny and pretty boring. Shock titles aren't a replacement for bad writing and lame humour. There's a million better ways to waste an hour or two.

"David Haller is a troubled young man diagnosed as schizophrenic, but after a strange encounter, he discovers special powers that will change his life forever."

This is a very different show. It's unique, well acted and the pacing is great. The writing and story development is intelligent and sophisticated. You're not spoon fed, but required to think about what plays out and motivated to discover the depths of the characters. A fun ride and worth the watch! Wish there was more quality programming like this.

"The apparently perfect lives of three mothers of first graders unravel to the point of murder."

Exquisite. 'Big Little Lies' takes us to an incredible journey with its emotional and intriguing storyline. The characters are so thoroughly and thoughtfully developed. Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern gave breathtaking performances. Directing, screenplay, photography, everything is brilliantly done. I would deeply recommend it.

"An adaptation of the fairy tale about a monstrous-looking prince and a young woman who fall in love."

Overall, this film is a complete bore. It could've been better if even the special effects were good, but the CGI in particular is horrendous. I'm all for Disney remaking their nostalgia- catering 90's films, but they need to be interesting. This film, sadly, is not. Even the Christmas sequel is better than this film because it's at least something.

    • John Wick: Chapter 2

"After returning to the criminal underworld to repay a debt, John Wick discovers that a large bounty has been put on his life."

Overall, John Wick: Chapter 2 is one hell of a sequel. It has everything a sequel should have and definitely doesn't disappoint. If you loved the first one then you're probably going to love this one. It is a straight up, balls to the wall thrill ride that is more than worth the price of admission.

"When a mysterious woman seduces Dom into the world of terrorism and a betrayal of those closest to him, the crew face trials that will test them as never before."

Excellent movie. Personally, it is the best of the saga. It caught me from the beginning; The action scenes surpassed all that they have done previously (the final scene, incredible and the best I saw) The performances of all the cast very good and Charlize as incredible villain, all cast excellent. I really liked the surprises, which for fans and fans will know who they are and they will love it. The film made me laugh a lot, thrill and enjoy. The 3D is very good, and I emphasise the reason of the betrayal of Dominic since I did not imagine that reason.

"A couple deals with their cultural differences as their relationship grows."

I just loved this movie. It's billed as a comedy and I did laugh out loud frequently but it is also a touching drama of relationship and illness and the quintessential American story of the immigrant family's son and the white bread girlfriend. It had a very sweet touch, mixing the comedy and drama. Ray Romano was fantastic as the father of the girlfriend and I also really liked the girl, Zoe Kazan. Sorry, this isn't much of a review except to say that it was really very good!

    • A Ghost Story

"In this singular exploration of legacy, love, loss, and the enormity of existence, a recently deceased, white-sheeted ghost returns to his suburban home to try to reconnect with his bereft wife."

I had high expectations for the film and it managed to surpass them. It went beyond what I initially assumed would be its premise. It's a beautiful, poetic tale of love and the way that the connections we make throughout our lives can shape us. It's really mostly a silent film but the mesmerising cinematography and the delicate, ethereal directing really help make this gem some sort of masterpiece. Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck aren't given a lot of dialogue but they're perfect in these roles. They're both two incredibly talented actors who are at their best playing internal characters and here they completely inhabit the meditative nature of the roles. If anything this deserves even greater attention than it has gotten.

"A team of scientists aboard the International Space Station discover a rapidly evolving life form, that caused extinction on Mars, and now threatens the crew and all life on Earth."

All in all, it was a huge disappointment to me. With a star cast (Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds), you would expect more than just a very bland space thriller.

"In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X, somewhere on the Mexican border. However, Logan's attempts to hide from the world, and his legacy, are upended when a young mutant arrives, pursued by dark forces."

This is by far the best Wolverine movie and possibly the best X-Men movie to date. I haven't decided yet. It's up there, and it deserves to be. Everything payed off in this film. It is emotional. It is character driven. It has heart. It is emotional. This is everything anyone could have wanted in a Wolverine film.

    • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

"Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes-Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash-it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions."

The plot is well written and the extra character development time raises the stakes and our attachment to the characters during action scenes. The actions scenes are visually incredible, in fact the entire universe is colorful and beautiful to behold.

"When four lifelong friends travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival, sisterhoods are rekindled, wild sides are rediscovered, and there's enough dancing, drinking, brawling, and romancing to make the Big Easy blush."

I just love entertaining, wild and raunchy comedies like Girls Trip! I am glad I am not a prude otherwise I would have missed one of the best comedies I have ever seen in a long time! The comedy in this movie feels real old school.

    • Ghost In The Shell

"In the near future, Major is the first of her kind: A human saved from a terrible crash, who is cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier devoted to stopping the world's most dangerous criminals."

Everything felt very forced. The movie lacks a story. To me it feels like the cherry picked the awesome scenes of the movie/series and made a movie out of it.

Unfortunately, they butchered everything and missed the entire point of the Ghost in the Shell series and turned it into a lame action movie with zero substance. What happened to all the thought provoking ideas from the movie/series? I can't wait till someone does a comparison of the original scenes vs these remade ones, what a joke.

      5/10

    • T2 Trainspotting

"After 20 years abroad, Mark Renton returns to Scotland and reunites with his old friends Sick Boy, Spud, and Begbie."

After 21 years of waiting, the sequel to 'Trainspotting' has finally become a reality, and what a fantastic ride it is. Sure it lacks the flare that made the original the classic it is, but with new ideas and a worthy plot that wraps up the original's ending, 'T2 Trainspotting' finds inventive ways to allow us to love the characters we grew up with.

    • Atomic Blonde

"An undercover MI6 agent is sent to Berlin during the Cold War to investigate the murder of a fellow agent and recover a missing list of double agents."

A very long and bland action movie that goes over its time limit. As excited as I was to see this from the fast paced and well edited trailer, I left the theatre disappointed and expecting more.

Good: Charlize Theron and James McAvoy were great in this film and worked well with the role given. The movie has a vibrant and appealing rock star style with bright neon colours.

Bad: The action sequences lacked innovative and new stunts and were not entertaining at all except a one-shot staircase scene. The story and plot of the movie were not interesting or intriguing. Also the movie seemed to jump all over the place going from one setting to the next. Also the addition of Sofia Boutella was not used effectively. A lack of comedic moments.

Overall: This movie was a let down and a movie that I prefer more is John Wick which understands what it is and entertains the audience. As great as the cast was, the plot and action sequences lacked creativity and stylistic moments.

"Devoted lifeguard Mitch Buchannon butts heads with a brash new recruit, as they uncover a criminal plot that threatens the future of the bay."

It was hilarious with non-stop laughs and a lot of great one-liners. Too many people are trying to turn it into what it's not. It's a comedy and delivers on that front. Didn't feel like it needed a deeper story line because that isn't the purpose of the movie.

"Things go terribly wrong for a group of girlfriends who hire a male stripper for a bachelorette party in Miami."

Nice to see Scarlett Johansson do a comedy, she mostly has been in drama or action, but I gotta say she was pretty funny. The other females here also don't disappoint, Bell, Kravitz, Glazer and McKinnon all play off each other quite well. I really bought their friendship, and that they all had a history together. A well done dark comedy, very funny, and raunchy, but not too over the top. I also liked the way the characters were not portrayed in a one dimensional way. If you're looking for a film to see with your friends, then check Rough Night out.

"Secure within a desolate home as an unnatural threat terrorizes the world, a man has established a tenuous domestic order with his wife and son, but this will soon be put to test when a desperate young family arrives seeking refuge."

Pretty decent horror movie, I'd recommend.
