If a movie/clip/scene is uploaded as part of a collection that same movie/clip/scene cannot be uploaded separately, bu the reverse is not true..
Has that rule changed in the last 12 months? What you say seems the logical thing to me, and I see that kind of upload all the time, but about a year ago jackny explicitly confirmed to me that the opposite was true - clips that are posted on their own after they were previously posted as part of a collection are not considered duplicates.
A bit off-topic for a torrent forum, but perhaps someone here can help me out. I want to access an FTP server (located in the US, I think) that seems to hold an excellent clip collection but that apparently only accepts connections from China (probably the People's Republic though I'm not entirely sure about that).
I have already tried a dozen or two public proxies in China that I found on various sites but not a single one of them would allow me to connect to it (from outside China).
Can anyone point me to a proxy located in China that can handle FTP and that will allow connections from outside China?

You could also try leaving a friendly comment where the torrent was posted. That worked for me a couple of times in a similar situation.
Directly below the "Download" button for the torrent file is a button that says "Say thank you!", and to the right of that one is a drop-down menu where you can select how many seedbonus points you want to give when you press Thank you.
The way I understand it (I may be wrong), as an uploader you have a limited time (a few days) to complete one full upload (create one new seed), and your torrent will be automatically deleted if after that period no-one has managed to get a full download (perhaps this doesn't apply if you seed continuously, without a single break, until completion of the first full upload). Depending on your upload speed, you may be struggling to complete one full upload within the alloted time frame with a very large torrent.
Popper, can you give us an update where we are with all this, please?
Is the action actually still running? It's been three weeks since the master list in the first post has been last updated and no rewards have been given out since.
Are we going to get a starting signal for voting at some point? It doesn't seem very sensible to me to vote while we're (apparently) still collecting more definitions.

Homemade - Videos (of a sexual nature) made by non-professionals. The production values can be amateurish or professional, and the videos may be sold or given away for free by the producer, but the producer should not be associated with a "proper" video studio (typically, all camera and editing work for all videos will be done by the same person). The models will normally be (real) amateurs as well.
BTW, can I just run an idea by y'all? Would it be feasible, when a torrent is associated with additional categories by voting, to add these categories automatically as tags? As far as I can see, at the moment the additional information gleaned from those votes is only available in optical form, as extra icons, but cannot be searched for.

The Amateur category always existed and was always used mainly for the professional studio productions with so called amateur models. The same is valid for the other gay torrent sites. To give a place for the real pure amateur productions with amateur models and without any commercial intention, we've created the "Homemade" category, which is specific to GayTorrent.ru (at the moment).
Oops, I had no idea such a genre existed.
Let's try put that in a definition then, shall we …
Amateur - Videos (of a sexual nature) that are professionally made and where the models are claimed to be "amateurs". True amateur videos should go into the Homemade category.

Slightly off-topic but related: I think it would be helpful (and not just for avoiding or spotting duplicates) if it were possible to include file names in a search. From what I can make out, they are at present only searchable if they have been included in the torrent description. Probably not a trivial thing to implement but I thought I just mention it anyway.
Amateur includes "amateur" models in professional productions. In quotes, because often the amateur status is a fiction mounted by the studio. Examples for professional amateur model productions are Czech Hunter or FranterniyX.
Homemade are real amateur productions with real amateurs models, In this sense they are close to the "members" category productions. They have no commercial purpose.
Hm. Call me a pedant but someone who models for a studio, even when it's his first time, ain't no amateur no more. No siree! :cool2:
I wonder if we really need a special category for professionally produced fake amateur clips. Perhaps it would make sense to drop that category altogether and unite all videos where non-professional people are before and/or behind the camera into a revised "Homemade" category. It could be re-named "Non-professional" or something like that to make the change obvious to all users. (Members' own productions could stay separate or be put in there as well.)

Oops, I didn't mean to sound disappointed. But you're right, I would have preferred a change in the policy. My problem with clips appearing on their own, sometimes just a week or two after they were posted as part of a full set of parts (or a smallish collection), is two-fold: It feels like a rip-off of the original poster (rightly or, quite possibly, wrongly so, if the new poster has his own source), and more importantly, to me these torrents are unnecessary clutter. I mean, why do we have a no-duplicates policy in the first place? I assume that it is exactly for those two reasons, i.e. to "protect" the original poster of a file, and to avoid torrents that provide nothing new reducing the overall attractiveness of the range of torrents on offer here. But I may well miss other aspects, as I did with the one you made about less experienced users having trouble selecting individual files from a torrent, and I also generally think that generous interpretations of rules are preferable, so my reply wasn't intended as an implied criticism.

Having read the new text, I'm not sure if it changes anything with regard to posting clips singly (or in small groups) that have been included in previous "collections" or torrents of complete sets (i.e. all parts of a scene released bit by bit e.g. on a weekly basis, a common practice with subscription sites).
Up to now, such new posts have not been considered duplicates because the earlier post "didn't count" even when it comprised no more than one complete set of several parts, and the new post(s) contained single part(s) or a sub-set of the full set (in the same format).
Can you please clarify if you plan to count such posts as duplicates from now on? I would certainly welcome it if you did. :cool2:
The ratio color change helps users to know their ratio is below their minimum ratio requirement; which starts a grace time when download privilege will be lost if not rectified.

But the thing is, I've been well above the minimum requirement throughout the period the ratio was showing in dark red, so it looks like there may be a gremlin in the coding somewhere. What seems to have set the ratio colour back to white is the fact that I passed the 250 GB download mark today (unless that's just a coincidence).
I see from the screenshot above that I wasn't the only one for whom the ratio was showing in that almost unreadable dark red font on dark background. It used to be shown in white, and has just turned white again today, but was red for a week or two before today. Do these colour changes actually mean anything or is it just a website design issue?
