I think you're just over thinking about the situation. Live free meaning fall in love who you want to fall in love and not think about it. Obviously, it's not normal to bring home an old guy to mom, but you have an opportunity to change what is normal.
And it seems like you want the security and all the other good stuff from the older guy but not willing to put up with the cons. All relationships have pros and cons. What you're feeling is normal. You just have to let go and fall for someone without any hesitation. It might be the best love ever in your life.

I'm 23 yo and I like men from 40 to 55-60,depends of looks. Of course,there are exceptions but I'm talking in general.
