There is some speculation that there may be a cure in the works, but I've heard about things like this before, and although they looked promising, they fell a little flat.

Also, sadly, there are some people who are known commonly as "denialists", who do not help in any way with the advancement of research, as they deny that HIV even exists in the first place. The funny thing is that they claim that the basic principle that we understand HIV is simply a "theory"... None of them like when I ask them if they believe in gravity, and when the answer yes, point out that even gravity by scientific definition is "just a theory". So I'll as them how they can be so willing to believe in "just a theory" when it comes to gravity, but when it comes to something else, it's "just a theory" and it "hasn't been proven"... Technically NEITHER HAS GRAVITY!! Not in an exact quantification that can be scientifically validated with hard evidence anyway... But yet, here we are with the belief that what goes up, must come down. When I ask how the "theory of gravity" is any different than the "theory of HIV" as they so delicately put it, not one of them could ever tender up an answer for me.

You're thinking about Olestra. And yes, it had very disastrous consequences. Consuming Olestra gave people cramps, really bad gas and diarrhea. If you Google around, I'm sure you could find some funny meme or video related to it.

That being said, I'd be careful with what you put in your butt, but a small amount of canola oil shouldn't be too detrimental.

Honestly, I doubt it. It might be theoretically possible, but not realistically so without doing it pretty much constantly. Also, there's no telling what that could do to the functionality of your penis. I remember seeing an old documentary on TV as a kid about Indian nanga babas or something (closet thing I could find with google) who would stretch their dicks and literally roll them up in sticks and stretch them around large stones they'd then swing swing from their dicks (that's how I remember it, anyway).
