@blablarg18 said in "Why Martin Luther King Was Republican":

@raphjd I never thought about MLK party. Wow was he GOP? For 100 years after USA Civil War, most blacks were. Thus plausible.

While Dems were KKK party just as you say.

WERE being the operative word. Neither of current parties are anything like they were except that Democrats support social justice and social welfare and the Republicans are essentially the party of rich industrialists who con the working class into voting against their best interests with bogus culture war issues.

    • RE: Impeach Biden: support keeps growing, now at 53% overall

@blablarg18 So let's see what happens. My money is on Biden will not be impeached, Trump will go to jail, and DeSantis will take over the party of deplorables. But he won't win. The current face of the GOP is a pack of imbeciles who think they are the smartest people in the room and don't realize that all the intelligent people are rolling their eyes. Boebert, MTG, Jordan and Comer: The Three Stooges plus one.

@blablarg18 The people responsible for fentanyl deaths are the people who take fentanyl. What happened to personal responsibility?

    • RE: Impeach Biden: support keeps growing, now at 53% overall

@blablarg18 So the Mexicans are sneaking fentanyl into your Taco Bell? Nope. Fentanyl is a cheap substitute for heroin, but much harder to regulate dosage. People don't die from "bad" fentanyl, they die from "too much" fentanyl.

When did conservatives start caring so much about drug addicts? Over the years their compassionate solution has been to cut funding for rehabilitation and just throw them into prison. They only care now because they think they can blame this on "the border." Well, newsflash: If Americans didn't buy drugs, people wouldn't risk smuggling them here.

And admirable attempt at stereotyping me. Fail.

@raphjd These are all anecdotal anomalies. All you have to do is to look at what these parties were then and what they are now. I don't believe every Republican is a racist homophobe, but if you are a racist homophobe, you are probably a Republican.

@blablarg18 Any trans person I have ever talked to or read about or seen interviewed are thrilled to have transitioned. Are there those who later regret it? Maybe. But they are the minority. There only struggle which can lead to massive stress is trying to get acceptance and validation from small-minded bigots like yourself.

And just give up trying to question my intelligence. You sound absurd.

    • RE: Happy Pride!

@raphjd This is why you can't win arguments. What does sex/gender have to do with Covid? Apples and oranges. But since you brought it up: no one said that the vaccine would prevent you from getting or spreading Covid. Fox said they said that. What they said is it would help prevent you from dying from Covid, and as the death rated plummeted after people started getting jabbed, it seems to have worked.

But that is not the point here. Biological sex is a thing, scientifically. Gender-identification is not, at least not yet as neurobiology is in it's infancy. But whether you want to believe it exists or not is irrelevant. Your beliefs are not facts.

I would also be careful. The people attacking Trans people hard are not friends of homosexuals. I wonder if they think we are "natural"? They don't. The Right has an agenda in their "war on woke" and gay marriage and gay rights are in their sights. Listen to Matt Walsh. They are starting with Trans because they see them as an easy target. But they have much more in store. Notice which books are being banned in Florida schools. Wake up.

@raphjd I would say that the second part of your post shows how the hard-right intentionally fails to understand science to suit their agenda.

    • RE: Happy Pride!

@raphjd No. If you look at my original reply to you, I stated that they do not. I think they were hoping they would, but it didn't work out that way. There is a lot of evidence, however, that they boosted the body's ability to fight off the virus, and this seems to supported by the dramatic decrease in hospitalizations and deaths after people started getting vaccinated.

And it was never "a lie by the left." Even Fox News had vaccine mandates. It was early days and no one was certain about anything. It takes time for scientists to discover the truth, but everyone was prematurely jumping in and trying to gain political points from the situation. It was one of the biggest shit shows I'd ever witnessed....on both sides.

Don't get me wrong. Big Pharma has a lot to answer for. But medicine often works and we all live longer lives because of it.

    • RE: ‘Witch’ Megan Fox responds to ‘desperate’ claims that she forced sons to ‘wear girls clothes’

@raphjd Did you read the "article."? (Seriously, Page Six? Was the Enquirer sold out?) She said that only her oldest son prefers to wear feminine clothing, which you can see in the photos (unless we are counting long hair and Led Zeppelin t-shirts as "girly"). She also explains that has been hard for her as a mother to balance protecting her child while allowing him to express himself and that it is horrific that a loser right-wing politician would use this to score some cheap political points.

As we all seem so concerned here about protecting children, I'm sure you'd agree.
