I used to have about 700GB, I stored most of it on my WD My Passport 1TB (age:1.3 years). One day, the hard drive became unreadable and started making clicking noise. I treated it with discretion, I don't understand why this happened.
A data recovery company told me it was either the head or platter's problem, and it would cost me AT LEAST US$650 to recover the data.
I wasn't intended to recover my porn collection of 5 years, I wanted to save my family's photos, but $650 was way out of budget.
Anyway, here's some pieces of advice:
Make multiple backup of your important files. (Cloud storage is the best solution)
I don't know if watching video/torrenting on a HDD is harmful to it, but I suggest you not to store your important files on your porn/torrenting hard drive.
Sorry for my bad English.
