RE: VPN PrivateInternetAccess
Removing Comodo Firewall was the solution I was looking for.
Here's a still active page that I'm sure PIA doesn't know is still up that I'm using to get the service even cheaper:

RE: VPN PrivateInternetAccess
I do control L in the port area (a blank) when it shuts down, it automatically sends a log error report then I tell them what the # is. Tx for advice.

RE: VPN PrivateInternetAccess
Right now I have about three pages saved in Word of various solutions such as changing ports, purging DNS, etc. I really want the thing to work. I thought there was a connection with my EaseUs backup that runs every Sunday night, but there isn't. I really want them to work and their tech support is excellent.

RE: Problem with VPN (IPredator) and gigatribe
Private Internet Access has proven to be a complete wipeout for me, it drops every few days in the middle of the night, impossible to reestablish the connection in the AM without logging off completely. They had me change all kinds of ports, and now want me to change the DNS to a specific #, which I won't do.
Has anyone had problems of this magnitude?

RE: Problem with VPN (IPredator) and gigatribe
Since PrivateInternetAccess keeps no logs, and let's say I'm in the US, and since servers would be faster in the US, would I be okay using them instead of using ones in Europe?

VPN PrivateInternetAccess
A few people on here recently discussed that they were using this. I've been on about a month and am experiencing dropped connection, often overnight, and it never connects again. Several approaches were offered by tech staff, which seem to work for awhile and then conk out. If it drops this often, it's useless. These are the solutions offered. I'd be curious as to how people are doing with this service, or others they might be using, thanks.
1. Click on our icon in the System Tray or Menu Bar
2. Click on Settings
3. Click on Advanced
4. Change the remote port to 9201 or 1194 or 8080 or 53 (1194 is default)
5. Change the local port to 53
6. Save and then Disconnect.
7. Reconnect
8. If this does not help, please go back to the Advanced Settings
9. Change the protocol to TCP
10. Change the remote port to 443 or 110 or 80
11. Leave the local port blank.
12. Save and then Disconnect.
13. Reconnect. -
RE: Problem with VPN (IPredator) and gigatribe
Just activated PrivateInternetAccess and couldn't be happier, can't believe the speeds.
For those interested, I stumbled on a "backdoor" somewhere that gives you a reduced rate, at least by the month:

RE: Problem with VPN (IPredator) and gigatribe
They appear to have DNS leak protection, which I learned HMA does not, they directed me to a testing site and found that all my information was visible.
I looked into bitcoins last night and it appeared I needed to spend $905 and change just to get started, WTF?

RE: Problem with VPN (IPredator) and gigatribe
There seems to be a very curious contradiction I'm learning about the VPN setup. I went years ago with HMA, to good results, and then this Sony corporate hacking revealed that indeed they keep logs. The two times I was caught was when I used their servers that were based in the US and Canada. They didn't reveal anything to the companies that wanted my info., and I used their servers in Europe afterwards.
I was told at the time that I wanted a service that was not US based, because in theory, a US based server could be served with papers, etc.
Now I learn that apparently only US based companies are not required to keep logs.
So if a company like Private Internet Access keeps no logs whatsoever, and people often share IP addresses, then how can they possibly be no good because they're in the US?

Umlimited Muscle posts allowed?
I posted my first one, to tepid response. There are three others I'd like to post, but I see some of these g-rated pictures are of high school boys, so some might not be 18 yet.
Recently I saw the Genesis Children get approved on here, which is filled with underage nudity, so I assume my pictures are allowed.
Still, I'd like to be sure before I proceed.

RE: Problem with VPN (IPredator) and gigatribe
IPredator was a nightmare, I got rid of them after the 3 mo. initial period. I was very happy with HMA (HideMyAss), but after extensive reading, I now realize that they indeed keep logs, and apparently, only US based VPNs are not required to do so.
There's a wealth of bad, inaccurate info. out there, including sites that I'm convinced have been created by the companies themselves.
I tried a 3 day trial with PureVPN, and after they get your payment, they want photo proof from your credit card or the like if you're using Paypal or even Bitcoin. They were simply ineffective as well.
I found these two sites excellent, and am going to try PrivateInternetAccess, as they've been reviewed by CBSNews, Kiplinger's and got a #1 rating from PC Mag:

RE: FraternityX piracy warning on new film
Fascinating stuff, but to me, it goes at the heart of torrents and the like. Namely, would I actually buy their stuff, with so many fuglies in it? Right now I have P90X coming to me through the Interlibrary system. If it's any good, it's easy enough to dupe. Would I drop $140 on this if that was the only option? Absolutely not.
I'd be curious to know what kind of tracking system was in place that enabled Flava Works to successfully sue for $1.5 million (whether they get it or not is another question).
