Iowa had a satanist display up in its Capitol.
A protestor (Navy vet) knocked it down.
In brouhaha that followed, libs conceded satanism is NO serious religion & display was there to mock & offend others.... a thing libs never allow done to, say, Muslims.
Recent news:
- Michael Cassidy charged; he calls his actions "Christian civil disobedience"
- Iowa Republican introduces bill to prevent state recognition of satanism as a religion
- Over in AZ, masked senator (Juan Mendez - D) promotes satanism in state Capitol

I'm an atheist.
If we accept 1 religion, then we should accept other religions.
Do atheists get to destroy religious statues as civil disobedience.
-
@raphjd Except it's not a religion. Its own devotees often say that.
When you give birthday party, you invite most of the other kids, even kid who believes birthday parties are nothing real or shouldn't be held........ ...... just not kid who's out to insult people for doing it, give flaming bag of shit as a present, etc.
PS. "Do atheists get to destroy religious statues as civil disobedience" - Yes AND face charges for it, like Michael Cassidy.
-
And Cassidy faced charges - which Iowa reduced & settled:
On Friday, he entered a guilty plea for third-degree criminal mischief. In return, he avoided prison time in exchange for the payment of a fine and the dismissal of the hate crime enhancements.
Can't speak for Iowa.............. but...... OUR LIBS CONCEDED that so-called "holiday display" was 1) not from a real religion, 2) only there to mock real religions. Ie. hate crime in itself
If you knock down a hate crime - when authorities won't - is that a (new, 2nd) hate crime?
Authoritarians say yes. Authoritarians say, only their favored authorities can ever say what's hate crime or remove it.
