Bad Ratio Even With Ratio >2.4
-
Lately I've getting bad ratio messages from the trackers and downloading the torrent will start only after hours later. The message is
Bad Ratio: Ratio 2.418 (To many torrents .. Your current limit is 15 at the same time ...
Did I miss something that 15 is the new limit? AFAIK, according to rationator, my limit should be higher than that? Is this a system glitch for my account?
I also noticed that there are "Leeching Torrents" listed in my account that they were no longer downloading/uploading in my client, but they stuck there not removing. Some even from months ago.
Could mods help me please, thanks in advance.

This is normal, 12 is maximum for downloading torrent ...
You'll get BAD RATIO or too many torrents running when you exceed 12,
and the rest will be queued when completed [NOTE: tracker updates every per half hour] ...
I believe this is how system works ...
I have 6.720 ratio and still getting that error ...SEE : https://community.gaytorrent.ru/topic/60749/bad-ratio-preventing-download-i-have-a-good-ratio?

@superpush you can download up to 150 torrents per day, but only 15 simutaneously. If you're seeing torrents in your leeching list that you are not actually downloading that means you haven't fully downloaded all files. You don't have to, that's OK, you can still seed the files you selected, but as long as that torrent is active, even though it says "seeding" in your client it will always count as "leeching" in the system. Once you stop that torrent, it can take up to 30 minutes for that information to be passed on to the system, that's why pausing everything else will not resume your download rights immediately.
-
@ianfontinell I have to say, I am a bit flummoxed when I read about members having issues regarding the # of files they can download per day.
The last example -- 15 torrents simultaneously, up to 150 per day. I can hardly comprehend how someone needs to choose so many desired files, especially when they could download at that rate again in 24 hours.
And, with so many downloads on a given day, does that not have the potential to nuke their ratio, unless they are pulling only from the newest uploads and Freeleeches?
I can hardly believe the maximum downloads could be watched and evaluated each 24 hours. But gentle, long-term members seems accepting about new arrivals striving for these massive maximums.
To each their own!

@flozen well, to be fair new users have to deal with much more strict numbers. When I first got here I remember it was quite common to deal with warning screens saying I only had x downloads left, I really had to cherry pick what I was worth downloading at a given time.
If you are not familiar with private trackers you'll definitely end up nuking your ratio as you said, but if you know the drill you're safe.
I'm not that of a heavy user, and I still have a >1TB download buffer, I couldn't nuke myself even if I tried to.
-
@ianfontinell I'm sure that once makers of adult content catch up to the audience for suit-and-tie cat porn, your buffer will drop.
Purrrr, nice kitty.

@john32123666 I didn't know partial downloading counts as leeching and will never becomes seeding. That's interesting because for sure this will makes me avoids torrents that have many resolutions in a package (480p, 720p, 1080p etc).
As to the 15 torrents limit, is there any FAQ or such that mention this value? Does it change accordingly to your ratio or it's a fixed limit? I couldn't find the value any in the FAQ, there's no mention whatsoever on "simultaneous downloading".
Though, personally, I feels like the 15 limits is punishing users with good ratio. I wonder does the limit have real impact on keeping the community "clean", especially with good ratio users.

@superpush The concurrent downloads rules can be found in https://www.gaytorrent.ru/rules.php#96
Torrent Limits: Downloading of more than one torrent at a time is limited by the following parameters: Total uploaded amount is < 5 GB and your ratio is: < 0.75 = 3 torrents < 1.00 = 4 torrents > 1.00 = 5 torrents Total uploaded amount is < 10 GB and your ratio is: < 0.35 = 3 torrents < 0.75 = 4 torrents < 1.00 = 5 torrents > 1.00 = 6 torrents Total uploaded amount is < 25 GB and your ratio is: < 0.35 = 3 torrents < 0.75 = 5 torrents < 1.00 = 6 torrents > 1.00 = 10 torrents The above limitations remain in effect for all accounts with User Status and a total uploaded amount greater than 40 GB. Once Power User status has been achieved, the following limitations go into effect: Total uploaded amount is > 25 GB and your ratio is: < 0.75 = 7 torrents < 1.00 = 8 torrents > 1.00 = 15 torrents Users who have donated to the site are allowed 200 torrents at one time.
This limit does not aim to keep the community "clean" but rather to reduce server maintenance costs. The hardware usage is directly related to the amount of active torrents registered. The system already has to keep track of all seeding torrents, regardless of how many there are, and still leave some free memory. Having that be the case for downloads would increase the maintenance costs to an indeterminable value.
I don't think it has any negative side effect on anyone regardless of good/bad ratio. You can queue up as many torrents as you wish and they will all download according to your available download slots, eventually. You don't get any reward for downloading multiple torrents at a time, so limiting it can't be a punishment either.

There is no rule on ...
As to the 15 torrents limit, is there any FAQ or such that mention this value?

but they stuck there not removing. Some even from months ago.STATS: FAQ (Guide)
Most common reason for stats not updating:
The user is cheating. (a.k.a. "Summary Ban")
The server is overloaded and unresponsive. Just try to keep the session open until the server responds again.
(Flooding the server with consecutive manual updates is not recommended.)
You are using a faulty client. If you want to use an experimental or CVS version you do it at your own risk.Best practices:
If a torrent you are currently leeching/seeding is not listed on your profile, just wait or force a manual update.
Make sure you exit your client properly, so that the tracker receives "event=completed".
If the tracker is down, do not stop seeding.
As long as the tracker is back up before you exit the client the stats should update properly. Why is a torrent I'm leeching/seeding listed several times in my profile?
If for some reason (e.g. pc crash, or frozen client) your client exits improperly and you restart it,
it will have a new peer_id, so it will show as a new torrent.
The old one will never receive a "event=completed" or "event=stopped" and will be listed until some tracker timeout.
Just ignore it, it will eventually go away.I've finished or cancelled a torrent. Why is it still listed in my profile?
Some clients, notably TorrentStorm and Nova Torrent, do not report properly to the tracker when canceling or finishing a torrent.
In that case the tracker will keep waiting for some message - and thus listing the torrent as seeding or leeching - until some timeout occurs.
Just ignore it, it will eventually go away. Why do I sometimes see torrents I'm not leeching in my profile!?
When a torrent is first started, the tracker uses the IP to identify the user.
Therefore the torrent will become associated with the user who last accessed the site from that IP.
If you share your IP in some way (you are behind NAT/ICS, or using a proxy), and some of the persons you share it with are also users,
you may occasionally see their torrents listed in your profile.
(If they start a torrent session from that IP and you were the last one to visit the site the torrent will be associated with you).
Note that now torrents listed in your profile will always count towards your total stats. To make sure your torrents show up in your profile you should visit the site immediately before starting a session.
(The only way to completely stop foreign torrents from showing in profiles is to forbid users without an individual IP from accessing the site.
Yes, that means you. Complain at your own risk.)Multiple IPs (Can I login from different computers?)
Yes, the tracker is now capable of following sessions from different IPs for the same user.
A torrent is associated with the user when it starts, and only at that moment is the IP relevant.
So if you want to seed/leech from computer A and computer B with the same account you should access the site from computer A,
start the torrent there, and then repeat both steps from computer B (not limited to two computers or to a single torrent on each,
this is just the simplest example). You do not need to login again when closing the torrent.SEE: FAQ - https://www.gaytor.rent/faq.php#20 | https://www.gaytorrent.ru/faq.php#20

@superpush you are automatically seeding as you are downloading... even before your download completes. That is how torrenting works.
Your limit of 15 is not because of your ratio, it is because you have not yet transferred enough. That number will rise over time.
-
@ianfontinell That makes perfect sense, thanks for the info.
@john32123666 Good info, thanks, will check my client and settings accordingly. -
