SanDisk Professional G-Drive review: one drive for all the files | up to 22 Terrabytes!

When size matters, this could be the answer. But, I always get two drives in case one fails...and disk drives do fail.
-
@Rotron Where do I get them and for how much? I'll take TWO of them.... One for my TV Tower, an one for my server.
-
@eobox91103 You bet! I have experienced drive failures a few times already and they hurt. I've got five 2TB drives right now and i have run out of ports. I am now thinking of buying a larger capacity drive as I'm going to need more space soon.
-
@eobox91103 How right you are -- it's not if an external hard drive will fail, but rather, when.
Keeping a "paired" set of external drives is time consuming as one continues to add files, but there can be a magic moment when they are full and can be archived.
But any amount of time creating a dupe-failsafe is preferable to the moment (you / your cat / a trick) knocks a drive off a table, and you hear nothing, or the dreaded "click of death."
-
@Rotron 2 TB.... That's cute.... My laptop has a 5 TB external. My TV Tower with porn and movies has 16 TB, and my server has an 8 TB porn drive.
When my drives start to get full, I don't start deleting stuff.... Oh no, no, no.... I just get bigger drives. Haha. My porn collection is over 6 TB between the three machines.

@MrMazda Availability really depends on your location. Since I don't know where you are from, the safest I could recommend would be Amazon.
Sandiak official Amazon Store:
SanDisk: SanDisk https://www.amazon.com/stores/SanDisk/SanDisk/page/CD971F4B-EE23-4EA1-96E3-567678AC9C0A?channel=Store share - TwitterSince you have several setups, you might want to take a look at the convenience of Synology.
-
@flozen Yeah so what I would do is to buy another drive a few years later and move my more important files to it.
-
@MrMazda having 5 of these 2TB drives is bit messy with all the cables and things so it's time for a larger upgrade.
-
@Rotron I am ideally looking for 2. One for my TV tower (in my bedroom) and one for my server in the basement. For the server, it would be the ONLY external drive. For my TV Tower, it would replace the existing 500 GB drive to become the ONLY drive.
I am in Southern Ontario (Canada), so Amazon is perfect

@john32123666 Same two brands that I use and recommend. I worked for Toshiba for 5 years and they are really durable.

I have a NAS with 48TB and one with 104TB, plus about 60TB in various external drives.
-
@raphjd Holy Cow! You must be the Terrabyte King here. I want a Synology NAS but I still find it impractical for the asking price of the unit but I'm willing to spend the money on the drives itself.
-
Here's my micro guide on NAS brands;
-
TerraMaster is good value for the money, but the least user-friendly of the big 3.
-
QNAP has the best software, but not as well built as Synology.
-
Synology is the best-built but lags behind QNAP for software.

-
@raphjd Thank you for the info. I'll definitely check this out later. Now I have to cook lunch for my honey.
-
@raphjd Holy crap Batman! And I thought my storage capacity after the recent upgrades was huge.... I bow to thee!
-
Still looking for more storage @MrMazda

@john32123666 Those are for physical storage... I'm looking for the kind of storage you need to store mass amounts of digital porn haha

I got the joke at first read.
